country and here in the valley, of course with more than 200,000 students that could be affected by major changes, we are talking more than 1,500 full-time faculty members and more than 4,500 adjunct faculty members, and it was a full house here at the glendale civic center tonight, more than 500 people in the room, and they had to bring out extra chairs for this one. only a couple of people actually spoke up publicly and raised concerns about hair -- about their jobs. the chancellor says dividing the school into regional control will bring the number of presidents down to five, saving about a million dollars. it's a billion dollar system, but that's a place to start in terms of keeping faculty on site. it was an hour and five-minute meeting, which ended pretty

the school officials about layoffs, they said in terms of this plan, no, layoffs are not a part of the equation. maybe something down the road in terms of retiring faculty members and not filling those positions, and you and i both know that's pretty much a hiring freeze that you can pretty much expect for the maricopa county community college district. a lot of people talking about this tonight, but really in the hour and five-minute meeting that we sat through tonight, the word layoffs w time. marc, real quick, the next meeting, they are going to do this again in mesa next week. >> all right, matt, thank you for that update. a phoenix police robot there blows up a backpack in a parking garage near 4th avenue downtown. it turns out there was nothing dangerous inside. police are still investigating who may have left that backpack

state university drives his car on to campus and then starts stabbing people with a butcher knife. investigators say abdul razak ali artan injured 11 in this morning's attack. he was shot by an officer who was responding to reports of a nearby gas leak when the attack began. he was born in somalia and had the u.s. >> i was completely astonished. he seemed like a normal guy, nice, well mannered. >> investigators are looking into whether this was an act of terrorism. sheriff joe arpaio looking into the possibility of a future in the trump administration. he did say somewhat tight lipped but said turning down a possible

republican 306 electoral votes to democratic hillary clinton's 232. however, green party candidate jill stein is expected to ask for a recount there. >> and i was asked many times during the campaign if i would stand up and call for a recount if there were doubts about the reliability and the security of the vote, and i always said, yes, regardless of who is declared winner. the have a voting system we can trust. >> wisconsin election commissioners rejected green party candidate stein's request for a hand recount, so instead clerks will decide how best to recount starting this thursday. stein missed a deadline to ask for pennsylvania's recount, so today she filed a lawsuit seeking a recount in that state. according to the arizona capitol times, republicans' lead

fighting back after their christmas decorations are stolen right from their front yard. the raulston's home is usually the one that wins the neighborhood h.o.a.'s first place award for christmas decorations, but last year and this year someone damaged the displa displays, and now they are setting up booby-traps to try to stop the vandals. >> we put a few little things in place to hopefully stop them from running through the yard and pulling things out, as much as we can. >> and the family not sure if it's the same people that keeps doing this to their home, but they are saying they are also considering installing security cameras outside to catch the people who were doing this. >> arizona senator jeff flake has some advice for donald trump on breaking all diplomatic ties

fox 10 news is back. the defense department is reportedly conducting an investigation related to the sex scandal tied to the resignation of former cia director david petraeus, this news released as petraeus was meeting with president elect donald petraeus's affair with paula broadwell lead to criminal charges against him and his resignation. donald trump tweeting this morning if cuba is unwilling to make a better deal for the cuban people, the american people and the whole of the u.s., i will terminate the deal. senator flake says we shouldn't return to the days of cuban

fox 10 news is back. well, reindeer in japan may soon be delivering pizzas as christmas season approaches. dominos japan is trying to reindeer for deliveries. the company is looking for a way to deliver pizza in snowy weather rather than relying on bicycles. if successful, the deliveries will come complete with trackers so customers can follow rudolph as he delivers the pizza to homes, or more likely track the pizza as it wanders all around your neighborhood. >> mama got run over by a reindeer delivering pizza, a whole new concept. if reindeers don't like pizza, then it might not work. it's chilly out there folks. the temp has been going down here this evening. we have got it at 55 degrees

degree warmer than it was last hour, but the winds have picked up a little bit to add that little degree. 54 right now at goodyear, 51 in scottsdale, 55 right now in chandler. and you can see the cold front working its way through the state. we have got some snow up there. you can see the snow bowl here with nine inches, six inches up in forest lakes, and then one inch with three inches. 57 degrees on the high today. we had 59 at goodyear, 55 up in glendale, and 57 up in chandler, 37 in sedona, 42 up in prescott, 47 up at page, and 62 at gila bend. this is what we are forecasting for the lows tonight. the normal low for phoenix is
