>> reporter: a dedication ceremony took place early this morning at the granite mountain hotshots memorial state park, where governor ducey and family got a preview of the park, a seven-mile hike along the trail, 19 stone plaques honor each of the fallen hotshots and six interpretive signs tell their story along with the timeline of what happened on that day back in 2013. there's also a ring of stones protecting the area where the hotshots bravely made their last stand, and an area for community members to reflect, which is what they have been doing out here early this morning. the park officially opens tomorrow to the public. back to you. >> okay, courtney. now over to tennessee where

evacuations in gatlingburg and surrounding communities. they are just dealing with a disaster there. several homes in the area have burned to the ground. dry conditions are making it you ever it for firefighters. there are reports that a 16 story hotel was at least partially, if not fully destroyed. the national parks service says the fire continues to grow within the smoky mountain national park. >> we have multiple trees now falling with embers, starting additional fires throughout the area. >> rain is expected to start falling tonight and for the next few days, but it's not clear if it will be enough. we'll take a closer look coming up in our full forecast. well, back here in the valley, another wrong-way crash to share with you, just days a after a deadly wrong-way crash

fox 10 reporter matt rodewald was driving in the area when he saw the wreckage. a semi-truck slammed into a small car with an elderly couple inside. that couple along with the wrong-way driver were all taken to the hospital, expected to survive. two women caught on camera stealing cell phones from some cross fit gyms around the valley, and police say baby. now, surveillance ideo from the copperhead cross fit in phoenix shows the women walking to the back of the room with a baby in her arms and stealing a cell phone, just like that. the other woman was distracted by people asking for information about the gym. the women have hit five cross fit gyms in the valley, including back alley near 12th street and northern. we have posted all of the surveillance video on the fox 10

have any clues, please call police. the body of 41-year-old vince scalise was found in sequoia national park. he did not return on saturday after disappearing following a hike. no word on how he died, but the temperatures in the area have been below overnight hours. decorations being vandalized, they booby-trapped the home this year. this year and last, somebody damaged their christmas displays. they told us somebody threw the reindeer out into the street, and the frosty statue was stomped on, so with the latest set of decorations they are setting up booby-trbooby-traps. >> we put a few little things in place to hopefully stop them

and pulling things out as much as we can. >> the family is also considering installing security cameras. well, a valley group is being told to stop an annual tradition, bringing a christmas tree to the top of camelback mountain. here are some photographs of years past. it's been happening for the last 15 years, but this year the parks and rec department cut the group's tree in half and carried it back down the mountain. te group says this year, they had permission. >> after 15 years, something changed at the city? >> something changed. the parks department says the trees and flags could fall off the trail and hurt someone. for the last time as sheriff, 300 volunteers will provide extra security at the busiest shopping malls in the valley, the 23rd year of a

beautiful. after we had some of the rainstorms wash the dust out of the sky, you can really see the mountain range. we are going to near 60 and we are going to be about that for the day. it's about ten degrees cooler than where we are used to this time of year. take a look at our skies, and you will see they are going to start to clear out, and of course this low-pressure system off the bay of alaska, all of that cold weather that is really working its way up is going to hang out, and it's really going to bring us some of those cool temperatures. it's going to move out our way and it's going to keep them around for the next ten days or so. at ten days, temperatures will drop another five degrees or so in terms of our high temperature. some of the eastern arizona areas in the overnight hours, you probably saw more snow there in eastern arizona, central eastern arizona, but for folks up in the high country, and a half way, enjoying a nice snow
