community, not a good thing when you are above them in sky 3. >> tom: no and we see a lot of them. >> kelly: as someone who is a former life guard and pool manager, that pool makes me cringe just looking at it. here is is a look at what we're expecting today. pool weather. 87 at 9:00 a.m. 99 at 4:00. today we have a chance of thunderstoms 10 minutes. >> tom: we had a fatality accident in the overnight hours. we've got minor accidents right now. this is on flamingo road over the top of i15. it is blocking travel lanes. nhp on scene. motorist need to swing wide to get around that. and an accident here in the intersections.

causing a major delay. we do have accidents, neither causing big problems so far to start off the morning. >> kim: tom in front of the green screen here in the studio. we have a breaking situation that has happened again. craig joins us live with the latest. another pedestrian crossing the street and losing their life here in las vegas. >> l crosswalk but that doesn't mean there is any guarantee you can walk into the street because there is a crosswalk. there are rules have you to obey even if you are a person stepping into that crosswalk and that counts for people behind the wheel. take a look at video recorded when this happened last night. the story is that the person was crossing the street, was killed.

police say they have a witness in this case, a person who saw everything happen and then add to that the driver of the vehicle. that driver says they could not stop. they were in the road. they saw the person in the crosswalk. the light was green for on coming traffic. >> a witness who was walking on the side of the road states that the light was green for our vehicle. the pedestrian was crossing against the signal. he stepped out in vehicle. the driver stated to our investigators he didn't see him until the last minute when he applied his brakes. at that point it was too late. >> it was too late. the investigation did continue for several hours. we know the person killed has been identified as a man. we know nothing more about that person. the identity could come from the clark county coroner's office. the driver of that car was not

and was not speeding. had a green light and somebody walked into that intersections and was killed. >> kim: what a tragedy. we appreciate the live report. here is more. >> krystal: more than 24 people hurt, several others rescued anyway three alarm apartment fire in five people still missing, three firefighters injured but they are expected to be ok. the fire started just before midnight after a natural gas explosion. 160 firefighters battled the flames. multiple buildings destroyed here and about 90 people not having a place to call home this

police say for all kinds of robberies throughout the valley, whether they are robberies or burglaries, they say this crew has been dubbed the hole in the wall crew because of how they allegedly carry out the break ins. police say the three getting into one business by making a hole in the bathroom wall from an abandoned neighboring business. the men committed blake in similar fashion throughout our community. they also hit up several pharmacies and stole cash and more than 4,000 pain pills at one location alone. >> i'm relieved at this point and we have additional security system in both suites. i'm glad they are behind bars. >> kim: those three will face a local judge.

swimming the 200-meter relay last night. got in a second behind and won by two seconds. her teammates say when you got katie swimming the final anchor leg, you got nothing to worry about. she's the michael jordan of the pool. she will swim in the 800-meter free style. she'll win that by probably five seconds. tonight with simon. simon is going to win the all around individual. alli has a chance to win silver tonight. >> i think all the girls agree that there is nothing as amazing and special as being able to win the team gold medal. whatever else happens is icing on top of the cake. >> dana: they did win the team medal together.

virginia using suction cups to climb up the side of the trump tower in midtown manhattan. this is a 58 story building. guy made it to the 21st floor before they were able to get him into custody. this is tough for police. how do you get a guy on the side of a building? they were cutting holes in the side of windows to try to get him inside the building. eventually they did. why did he do it? he wanted a personal meeting with donald trump and this is the only way he could get it. >> kim: that is quite a sight. here is another one doing the robot. i've been given permission by my producer to do this. why is this going on? it's in china and fun to take in. it's a beer festival in china. more than 1,000 robots doing their dance.

it comes to competitive swimming and he's already having people reach out to him to swim in las vegas for training. >> the head coach of the sand pipers of nevada has seen cody's passion for swimming from the beginning. trained him for five years and helped him break national records. now he's here. >> cody is an exceptional athlete. we have a l are like him in the pools today in las vegas. and it takes someone that comes in every day and has intensity and cody all the had that. >> cody got the bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. >> shout out to the sand pipers. grew up on that swim team which would not be wearing this medal if it was not for that team.

but for the entire team in las vegas. >> now people are looking at nevada where swimming is really good. i'm getting phone calls from people in other states that may want to put their kid on our swim team. >> i think we're doing a good job of getting them to the olympic trials and trying to get them to that next level. he's helped pave that >> cody broke the american record for that race under 59 seconds. when i talked to coach, he said that cody plans to continue swimming competitively at least for the next four years. >> dana: that means we'll see him in tokyo, i love it. the music already playing there. they are awake early on this thursday morning. they are posting a lot of stuff behind the scenes. we don't have time to show

price matching. if you bring in an ad from a competitor they give you that price s that in jeopardy? >> it is. they are gradually getting rid of that. they announced back in may that hundreds of stores would stop doing it. now 300 more stores will not matching competitor ads. a total of 800 stores stopping the practice. they are not saying which stores or regions are there are signs up at the stores impacted by this. instead they are going to roll back prices on the items that were commonly price matched. >> kim: i saw somebody yesterday just out and about here in las vegas and they said i just love that jane king you have on every morning. >> awesome. my mom must have been in vegas. i'll have to check.

sunday night. lopez was the one what called 911 and told them that he called his wife, 78-year-old. according to the police report, officers arrived at the house and found the door open. they didn't hear any activity in the home so they left. the caretaker found her body four hours later. we will have a crew in the local courtroom today when he faces a judge for the first time and have updates later on we have breaking news to share. >> krystal: at least 7 people still missing after a massive fire at an apartment building in maryland. more than 24 people hurt, several others having to be rescued in that three alarm apartment fire that started just before midnight. three firefighters hurt in this. fire officials report a natural gas explosion as the cause of

battle this fire and more than 90 people not having a place to call home. it's a developing story we'll continue to follow. >> dana: others competing in the rio games on the sand last night. this may be the best team on planet earth but they struggled a little bit losing their first set in rio. they did come back to win the third set play going on to the medal round. matt asked them about all the boos from the fans. >> so much talk about somewhat of an aggressive attitude here in rio with some of the brazilian fans. i was at the game last night with your teammates on the women's side. they played brazil and just about every time lauren or brook served they got booed.

who is appearing before her and also his wife is in her courtroom as well. they are not supposed to talk to each other. they are facing that judge because of being in cahooting for some sort of a crime. the judge decided to let him hold his son for the first time. he's not supposed to make contact with his wife as far as any discussion. she broke the rules this case because she wanted to let a new dad hold his brand new baby. already in custody. apparently the people who were present, from what we understand, everybody had tears, everybody was misty when she allowed this to happen. >> dana: what is happening in terms of traffic? >> tom: report of a serious accident just before eastern at burnham avenue. we'll get back to the outside

>> quinn: sometimes the news just gets to you and this one is going to. a couple attempting to cross the border into mexico stopped by authorities after a toddler's body was discovered in one of their did you havele bags. this happened yesterday. that couple immediately arrested. mexican customs agents sent guy carrying the bag to a secondary inspection point. they scanned the bag and made the awful discovery. the child appears to be two years old. both those people are u.s. citizens. both were deported back to the united states and facing counts of first degree murder and child cruelty. san diego police all over this investigating. we'll keep you posted. >> dana: a great show not skies

according to nasa this could be the best year we've even seen in a long time with 160 to 200 meteors an hour visible possible. most of these are actually the size of a grain of sand but they burn up as they interact with the earth's atmosphere. best way is after before sunrise. get away from the lights of las vegas. the darker the better. if you get into a dark spot after midnight tonight, i guarantee you you will see shooting stars. >> kim: take girl scout cookies with you. now you have the smores sandwich
