connection with a puzzling case of double murder this week in our community. our craig figner is all over this developing story. craig, sounds like in a couple of hours from now you will be able to make eyes on this guy as he appears in the court room. >> reporter: i will in-- i will indeed. good morning, kim. and he has lived with the victims that he is accused killing. lived with them because those two people were apparently helping him get on his feet morning he will make his first of what will likely be many court appearances accused of two counts of murder. 50-year-old allegedly murdered a couple with a pair of scissors and claw handle. it happened at palo verde road. the suspect was acting aggressively before the violent and deadly attack. there has been talk that he was using an illegal drug. he is accused of two counts of

this morning. his first appearance. i will be there. we will have a report on you on what unfolds. news3 live at noon. craig figner reporting live on this friday morning. back to you in the studio. >> dana: craig, thank you. 5:03. a man dead after being hit by a car in the northeastern section of the valley. happening just before 7:30 last night on lake mead near pecos. north las vegas police say the 65-year-old man was trying to cross the street outside of a cros he died later at unc drama. officers say the driver of the car did remain on scene. alcohol does not appear to be a factor. 5:03. and big development you are waking up to and this broke overnight that had to do with that tulsa police officer who according to authorities shot and killed a stranded moat irist. she turned herself in and she is facing manslaughter charges. you are looking at her mugshot on the screen. from what we understand

in on $50,000 bond. she is charged with first-degree manslaughter for the shooting and killing of a 40-year-old man named terrence crutcher. shelby said that he acted unreasonably -- within quotes, unreasonably when she shot crutcher. he was not listening to her commands and was walking away from her with his hands held up. she thought he was going to maybe a move into the suv. it looks like the community of tulsa, atea that. prosecutors all over this developing case and we will stay on top of it on news3. the scene from just hours ago from charlotte, north carolina. a third night of protests. however, last night was much more peaceful. they brought in the national guard, and i have even seen some pictures of a protesters going up to members of the guard and shaking their hands. so, yeah, it was amicable. at one point they were linking arms to create a shield

and they got it last night. so no reports of any arrests last night. no injuries last night. a little bit of tear gas at some points, but much better last night. of course these protests, they all linger from that shooting of that african-american man on tuesday in that community. kimberly kim because we are partnered with cnn and nbc, hopefully we will have live pictures in the light of day this morning to see if it remains as peaceful. right now 5:05 las vegas time which bring our own back yard. a protest playing out here locally and kind of caused a controversy inside a local court room the court room of judge douglas herndon. he said he is not going to allow anyone to wear pins or nonverbal messages within his court. he made that decision after that defense attorney erika balou wore a black lives button in the court room. she wore it tuesday and wednesday. the judge said he is not trying to make a political statement on his own.

in manhattan and then at one point he leaves that suitcase and walks off from a location and later two men come upon this suitcase, they take the pressure cooker bomb out of the suitcase, leave it on the sidewalk, and then they make off with the suitcase. now this is the bomb that exploded on west 23rd street. so two different sites here. one from west 27th where the bomb never went off and then the other from we 2 on the bomb that didn't go off, they found his fingerprints on there. he got into a shootout with police. he remains in the hospital sedated so they haven't been able to interview him yet. we have heard from rahami's father who warned authorities a couple of years ago that his son was becoming radicalized. we don't know if that is true or not but that is what the dad is saying. >> kim: the story we know that the eyewitnesses ended up

had nod idea what they were kicking. continued coverage right here on channel 3. . we take to you tennessee for this one where unfortunately three people have -- includes a suspected gunman at a shooting a the a manufacturing plant played out in the athens area at a steel fabrication plant yesterday afternoon. according to police there, they say the suspected gunman who was an employee open fired in the front office area, but then continued to fire deep inside the factory. they say three people were killed. again, that includes the gunman who apparently was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. investigators say still this morning at 5:08 las vegas time, they are investigating because they still don't have a motive of why he would do something like this. the identities of the deceased are unknown this morning. it is 5:08. coming up on this program, the dalai lama himself talking about donald trump. what did he have to say? it's interesting. you will not want to miss this
