meteorologist jerry brown is in the weather center right now. we are looking out toward the coast of florida, you can see that storm. hurricane matthew has been downgraded actually to a category 2 storm but there is still actually a threat of damage along the east coast. we will get to all that information right here on news 3. but i can tell you that moving from the carolinas down to georgia yesterday matthew battered parts of florida. we have more from one of the cities currently in its path, that is charleston, south carolina. sight on the streets of savannah overnight. heavy rains and high winds pummeling that city as matthew took aim. many evacuated but those who didn't were on their own. >> first responders will not be allowed to rebe popped in conditions that endanger their personal safety. >> reporter: matthew had relentless rain and storm surge

frightening moment for a texas teen when someone dressed as a clown fired shots inside his home. now san antonio police said the teen was sitting outside his house friday evening when the suspect opened fire. he told officers the gun jammed twice but the third shot actually went inside the house. the suspect ran away and police are still looking for him. thankfully no one was injured. the clown issue is raising a lot of concern. so much so that over in tucson some are holding lives matter and it will be held on october 15. organizers say it is meant to show that real clowns pose no danger to anyone. they say they will hold a peace walk and hand out flyers and it is certainly not meant to offend anyone. hockey players battle it out on the ice tonight for game two over at t-mobile arena but the first game took place last night. hockey fans were out to catch the first glimpse of the game between the long kings and

currently just off the charleston, south carolina category 1 storm with 85 miles an hour. only nine miles above the hurricane threshold of 74 miles. that's going to be moving out. it will get out of the gulf stream and go out into the ocean and become a tropical storm. it could move back in the bahamas and another tropical storm in the atlantic called irene moving in that area. be there to go see if ty and there are hurricane warnings along the east coast as they are going to have some very, very heavy rainfall there along with the potential for storm surge. today though 87, a beauty in pahrump, 90 in overton, 65 up on the mountain. we will get to that. here in the city 87 with a mix of sun and high clouds and light east breeze. up on mount charleston mid 60s to 82 at red rock, a light wind.
