carson city set to begin two hours from now. they are going to discuss several issues but the biggest raising the hotel room tax for a new football stadium here in las vegas. stadium would cost $1.9 billion. sheldon addle son will put up $650 million. the other 750 million coming from taxpayers, mostly tourist in our fine city. lawmakers will decide allow raising taxes to foot that bill. if we build this stadium they will move the raid fresh oakland to las vegas. the special session beginning at 8:00 this morning. jeff is there and will bring us live coverage throughout the day here on news 3. >> kim: he said he found god when he was sentenced for murder. now that same person will face a judge again this morning accused of attempted murder.

regional justice center. >> i want to show you something. this is a process of court we don't get to see often. that is a bus bringing inmates into the justice center for their court appearances this morning. i wanted you to see that because we don't get to see that part of the process often. let's go to video. check out the person accused of trying to murder a corrections officer. ann at sentencing he told jurors that he had found god while he was jailed. that was during the trial for him on a 2007 murder of his fiance. frostic was ultimately sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years. five days that have sentence there was an attack on a metro corrections officer. he's accused of being behind that attack. there is surveillance video of

maximum security area at the clark county detention center behind me. that bus you saw going in. he may have been in this bus. he'll be in court for a preliminary hearing in this new case and i'll be covering it. we'll let you know what happens today at noon. >> dana: we have reports of another attack inside the clark county detention center. this one was fatal and authorities are calling it murder. they are saying the man who rd guy. franklin sharp. he's 33 years of age. he was facing charges of attempted grand larceny and attempted burglarly. he got into an altercation with another inmate and authorities say sharp is the one who killed the other inmate. sharp facing a charge of open murder. >> kim: the clark county school district is responding to the scene you see over my shoulder this. is a massive fight locally breaking out in two different

football game from friday night. it's horrific when you take in some of the images you are seeing here. officials saying they are cooperating with the investigation. they are taking appropriate disciplinary action. the fighting started between students. started first in the raising cain's restaurant before spilling over into the in and out next door. a lot of video posted shows dozens of teenagers kicking and punching each other as a a teenage girl was hospitalized with minor injuries and two in and out employees were injured during all of this. news 3 will stay on top of this developing story as local school district officials investigate along with police. >> dana: trump and clinton taking on hot topics during the debate last night. we'll talk it out in just minutes. >> kim: still to come the winner

trump's 44%. >> kim: thank you very much. as far as the debate last night it was a town hall style debate and a lot of questions came from people in the audience who were considered undecided voters. how did the candidates do? let's talk it out with our national correspondent joining us from d. c. when we talk about the hits and misses from last nig complement each other in the end but started off the debate without a handshake which is unusual in american politics. what are the pun dents saying this morning? >> an interesting way that kicked off the night and set the tone and stage for what unfolded. no handshake. just a mod nod. a little bit of an awkward exchange. they did shake hands at the end.

the first third of the debate really spent on this issue of donald trump's temperment and his comments about women. of course one of the main reasons for this is these audio tapes released on friday from 2005. we hear trump on an access hollywood bus talking about groping women and how being famous allowed him to do. so a lot of people shocked by this. we've seen a lot of republicans withdraw support for donald trump. and as you said, negativity in last night's debate. the washington post put it well, their headline about the debate an unusually dark and bitter faceoff. really interesting and a lot of people now saying this morning this debate was like no other debate we've seen in the history of politics. >> and the big question was it enough to get the undecided voters to vote for either one of

we speak. that third and final debate as we've been talking about is scheduled for october 19 here in las vegas at the thomas and mack. that will be nearly three weeks before election day. >> five vermont teenagers killed after a driver going the wrong way on the freeway caused several crashes. the 36-year-old was traveling north in the south bound lanes of interstate 89 when he collided with another killing all five teenagers inside. he then sped off in a police cruiser after an officer arrived on the scene. they say he then crashed into 7 other vehicles. the police cruiser burst into flames itself. authorities say multiple people taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries including the suspect. this young man is now facing several charges. >> kim: columbian president says

attempted murder of a correctional officer inside the clark county detention center. he'll be in court on a preliminary hearing this morning. this is remarkable considering five days before this crime he had been sentenced for the murder of his fiance back in 2007. in the sentencing phase of that case, he had told the jurors that he had found god, that he was a changed man and five days later prosecutors say this happened. it's a preliminary hearing. i'll be there and report on what happens live at noon. >> kim: thank you very much for that. it is score card time. many of you watched the debate last night. some of you watched football. some of you went back and forth like we did in the wagner household. this morning we have the poll showing that clinton won that debate 57% to trump's 34% that.
