but, look at the roads. very slick, as you start off this thanksgiving travel week. guys. >> blake mccoy, thank you very much. >> that's what winter looks like. >> unfortunately. and we've got more coming and believe it or not, that lake-effect snow is being enhanced by moisture all the way from bermuda, coming up wrapping around the storm and coming in. you can see we're still going to have a lot of this and it's coming across the great lakes, the water's very warm so it's going to continue to provide those lake-effect snows. we've got near white-out conditions at times. 1 to 2 inches per hour, some may pick up another 15 to 20 inches from watertown all the way into essex. as far as travel is concerned when we look at the thanksgiving holiday, airports on wednesday, the biggest problems detroit, make that chicago and minneapolis. we're looking at possible delays due to rain, improving conditions late in the evening

this morning on "today's food, all-star thanksgiving," a

we've got two of the country's best pastry chefs collaborating on something new and spectacular. guys, good morning. happy almost thanksgiving. >> morning. >> can't wait. >> is it a pie or is it a cake? which is it? >> it is a psa, is what it is. >> is it? >> yeah, it is. >> it is a pie-cake. you've seen on social media. it is blowing up. people putting pies into cakes. >> it is a little bit reese's commercial where the peanut butter and chocolate have an accident. >> you bake them together. so he and i had feelings about that that are pretty strong. so we decided to collaborate and make something we would actually want to eat. >> start with the cake part. talk about the ingredients. >> we're going to make a pumpkin chocolate chip bundt cake. the big thing is when you go to

filling. they look very similar. pumpkin puree. flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs. you have to make two. >> so, we've made the mixture here. we put it in the pan. how long does that cook and how do you know it is done? >> it is going to cook for about 35, 40 minutes. you'll know it is done just kind of by a toothpick, stick it in and pull it out. toothpick is clean, cake is done. >> you're going to make the frosting? that's a lot of sugar. >> nothing wrong with sugar. this is a boiled milk frosting. it's got flour and sugar. i always put maple because i'm a vermonter. milk because boiled milk frosting, very good.

milk. heavy cream because -- why not? it's thanksgiving. we've got our fat pants on. then pumpkin because this is going to be a pumpkin thing. >> just preserved your secret -- we boil that up, cook that down. goes into the mixer. >> it has to match your batter. this makes the cake better. right? >> how long did you have to work on that? that's night. still wet. then you get it really thick and it has to be cool before you start adding butter. >> you're going to put the butter in. we've only got two minutes left and we have an entire section left. talk about the pie part. >> this is the pie part. traditionally they bake everything together and it is a big, fat mess. so i thought let's put the pecan pie in the middle. so you just fill -- >> store-bought pie crust? >> you can.

whatever. and then i blind bake it first. so you don't have a soggy bottom because nobody likes a soggy bottom. then you make the filling which is brown sugar, some butter. maple, again. and then one of the tricks for this is when this is warm, you slowly add it into the eggs. you whisk that up because you'll slowly add the hot stuff to the eggs. it is called tempering so you don't get scrambled pecan pie egg stuff. you can chop up the pecans or leave them whole. up to you. obviously you can eat both of these separately. must -- you don't have to do it together. >> i just don't want to shortchange the final step here. we'll pretend that's happened. now is when these two great baking minds come together. go ahead. >> go for it. >> so now we're going to take this, pecan pie, and you put it

and the bundt so that you can kind of wrap your head around it, i kind of think about pecan pie as like the filling of a german chocolate cake. you know that really gooey, yummy caramel-pecan filling? >> there's more. >> and, yes, there's more. so you line it up because the bundt has these peculiar little pointies. >> people at home may be startio >> you ice the whole thing. cover this cake all the way. and it becomes -- a pumpkin! adorable! >> the guys downstairs, how are our tasters doing? >> amazing! >> it is a dessert turducken. >> you got to get some of the pecan, some of the cake, you got to get the right bite.

turkey. what's the best approach so i don't mess it up? >> really simple. do what i do. don't brian. put the turkey in a roasting pan, season with salt and pepper, slather a bunch of melted butter in there and kick it into the oven. i don't cover it. . i cover it later. i start it at about 400 degrees. it gets nice and brown after 45 minutes to an hour. depends on how big it is. then i cover it with some tinfoil to protect it and just keep roasting it. i slow down oven to >> this from hanna from birmingham, alabama. what's the difference between dressing and stuffing? >> well, you like dressing. >> i don't like stuffing. >> obviously stuffing is stuffing in the bird and dressing is cooking it on the side. the reason why i like to cook it on the side for two reasons. first, you get a nice crust on the outside so you get that good contrast in texture. also it helps cook the bird evenly if you don't stuff it. and quicker. >> i do both.
