the bus driver, 24-year-old johnthony walker, has been arrested. 35 elementary students from kindergarten through fifth grade were onboard the bus when it crashed. emergency crews responded to a call around 3:30 p.m. to find the bus turned on its side and wrapped around a tree. the police chief called it a single driver incident and speed is being investigated as a possible cause. >> this is an absolute nightmare for this community, for this police department, for our partners in fire and ems, but i can assure you that the public safety professionals in chattanooga are prepared and trained to make sure this is investigated thoroughly and we're making sure we have all the resources the family, the schools, and the communities need to respond to this tragedy, this trauma. >> the accident comes just days before thanksgiving.

career about that he campaigned on, which is repealing tpp. what does that look like? >> apart from his overall foreign policy beyond the trade issue is still largely a blank slate. if you look at things like tpp, he's also looking at we will do bilateral deals. in other words, cantsal these bilateral deals and using a cost benefit analysis on what benefits what he says as america first. >> when we look at other big issues, particularly the ongoing civil war in syria, the irop nuclear deal, what policy positions can he favor or per sue to end the war in syria, and can he rip up the iran nuclear deal? >> the war in syria, please rr very much limited because much of it, when the uprising began in early 2011, much of what

the russians have filled. whether aleppo will fall, that remains to be seen. trump is looking beyond syria. there will be continuity on the fight on isis in eastern syria and western iraq, but what he's looking at is cutting deals, for example, with mr. putin to reach an accommodation on syria and other places. regarding your point on iran, remember, the iran deal was a deal, which is legally binding, but he has space in terms of the sanctions against iran. he can make them stronger, upgrade them, but the problem he may run into is if he's going to hit european firms, he's back to where he was several years ago in terms of destabilizing relations with european partners. >> the chance of doing something against iran bilaterally is much more difficult. let me ask you about syria.

do you see more military involvement in syria for the united states under trump? >> no, i think if you're looking at eastern syria and the war against isis, yes, the potential upgrade of it, strengthening of it, but it's important to see. if you look at the initial appointments, for example, national security adviser, flynn. also you have the cia director, representative congressman pompeo. people are thinking this is going to be -- it's heart starting to form to be a hawkish nati s key thing, i don't think it's a neocon time that's going to want to redesign the middle east and the region, but it's going to be mostly one that says on a limited basis, when you mess with america, we'll hit you and hit you hard. >> unless they get john bolton, no neocon in the state department. >> remains to be seen. >> all right, well, let's take a quick look at the weather, but a live report from japan on the powerful earthquake that rocked the northern part of the country

9.0 earthquake back in 2011. now, that quake triggered a deadly tsunami killing nearly 19,000 people. today, no deaths have been reported but there is a warning that another quake may strike.

live for us. what can you tell us about today's earthquake? >> reporter: well, the overwhelming concern today, of course, was that the strength of this earthquake could trigger a tsunami and the warnings stayed in effect for several hours. about four and a half feet that hit some parts of the island, but there were no reported deaths. very few injuries, and very little damage to actually see. you compare that with the tsunami in 2011, where the but there was a lot of anxiety today. the fear still very fresh in people's minds. japanese broadcasters under instruction from the government were told to issue very emphatic warnings to people to evacuate. they did in several languages to insure foreigners understood. officials at the nuclear power plant say there was one reactor that was knocked offline, but it was back in operation after 90 minutes. no sign of damage, and the
