friday morning. i'm frances rivera. we start with breaking news overnight. the country is waking up to learn about the loss of a woman many called america's tv mom. florence henderson reportedly died of heart failure. the 82-year-old actress burst on to the scene as carol brady in the 1969 comedy about a blended family. generations of americans grew up watching reruns of the show. henderson was surrounded by her friends and family when thanksgiving night. she was a star on broadway and made countless television appearances, including the "tonight show." she was the first to host when johnny carson took off. maureen mccormick tweeted this, florence henderson was a dear friend for so many years in my heart forever. love and hugs to her family. i will miss dearly.

>> i can think of 20 more people who would be naturally compatible with the trump vision of foreign policy. >> reporter: another sign trump may be moderating. after criticizing nato, the alliance's secretary general insisting donald trump is dedicated. >> he stated he supports nato. >> that was kristen welker for us. the numbers continue to grow this morning as green party nominee jill stein appears to have met her fundraising goal fo states. they went trump. the campaign says it has raised more than $4.6 million toward funding the recounts. a campaign lawyer says they will formally request recounts before state deadlines in the coming days. turning to syria, where u.s. service member has been killed. officials say the service member was killed when an ied detonated in northern syria. it is the first combat death for the u.s. military in syria

isis. at least one other american was injured in the attack, as well. more than 300 u.s. service members are in syria helping to recruit, train and advise forces fighting the islamic state. right now, there is a massive man hunt underway in central california for two escaped inmates. campbell and 33-year-old chavez escaped from the santa clara county jail last thanksgiving eve. four inmates cut the doors of the w and clothing to repel down from the cell. two of inmates were immediately caught. police are investigating how they got the tools to cut the bars. sheriff's deputies say this section of the jail is the oldest part of the facility, con -- constructed in the 1950s. it is unclear if the inmates are armed but they should be considered dangerous and desperate. in our thanksgiving holiday edition of quick hits, miss piggy to the rescue.

construction on the pipeline at the native american reservation. demonstrators blocked roads in bismarck, north carolina. activists at the pipeline site were fired on by water cannons and rubber bullets and tear gas, drawing condemnations from lawmakers, protesters and amnesty international. two women are armed and suspected ago. the mother of two was found safe near an interstate in california earlier this week. although bound, she was able to flag down a passing motorist. she vanished november 2nd after going for a job. she suffered unspecified injuries and has been treated and released from a hospital. look at this wild car chase in western australia. shows just how much the driver wanted to get away. the video shows a white van speeding down the road, changing
