mountains as well. cloudy skies to get things started. 50 at 9:00 a.m. by noon 55. 57 for a high temperature today so make sure you have warm sweaters. >> dana: a man in his 50's arrested after barricading himself inside his parents home. it happened near the boulder highway on the east side of the valley. started around 7:30 last night wh police saying he had a gun, he's on probation and thought he stole their gun on saturday. metro arrived and tried negotiating with the man. he refused so they called in swat. people in 15 homes nearby given the option to evacuate. some did. they were sent to a nearby school. nobody was hurt and no shots were fired and the guy eventually came out of the house

role in the beating death of her 7-year-old son richard finally. police were called back in october and that's where they found the boy unresponsive and showing signs of abuse. malone and her roommate abused that child and according to detectives malone tied her son up with a t shirt and held him down as robinson hit him. he had bruises on his stomach and backsid wrist and ankles. robinson was arrested and faces an open murder charge. >> dana: the local woman accused of flakerring a man on 95 and flamingo expected in court hours from now.

it's possible she could enter a plea today. she's facing five charges including indecent exposure and identity theft because of some evidence that was found in her car. >> michelle: metro needs your help finding a man who they say sexually assaulted a young girl on thanksgiving day. a man approached a brother and sister outside of a condo complex at lake mead and buffalo. away and molested the little girl. this is the man they are looking for. he's described as an older white man with a thin build either white or salt and pepper colored hair. if you have information ever information call crime stoppers. >> dana: tributes continue today for castro after his death at

wall tributes since his death was announced friday night. former cuban leaders remains will be brought to revolution plaza today and a mass public ceremony is planned for tomorrow. castro chose to be cremated. his ashes will be taken around cuba on sunday. most people have been staying home and off the street during nine days of mourning that >> michelle: gonzalez the cuban boy that was involved in a custody battle 16 years ago in miami is mourning the death of castro. a man he compared to a father. back in 1999 he was found floating on an intertube off the coast. his mother and others died trying to get to the united states from cuba. his case became another battle

return to his foreand grandparents in cuba. at the age of 22 he's talking about him. he remembers castro as a man he likened toe a father. in an interview saturday he fainted fidel to be proud of him. >> while somber in cuba, not so in miami where some people are dancing in the streets over the death of castro. festival like many of these people left cuba for the united states to escape castro's regime claiming they lost everything. this hasn't stopped. even today cubans continue to come to the united states, more than 46,000 of them in the last year alone.

fulfillment centers. beware of fraudulent apps. those that look legit but steal your private information. here is advice for safely shopping online. go to the retailers website first. check credit card statements regularly and read reviews of apps before downloading them. >> michelle: we can expect an estimated 1 billion packages delivered to homes across u.s. that means thieves like this. the ones that will r lurking in the background waiting for you to leave to steal goodies off people's doorsteps. it happens all the time. front door package thieves have been targeting a central valley neighborhood. a man taking matters in his own hands baiting the thieves. what do you think was in the box?

>> dana: breaking from hours ago, an american airlines flight that took off from dallas to las vegas finally landed just hours ago. there is a look at our local airport. flight 6093 was diverted to new mexico around 9:00 last night. they were having engine trouble but all the passenger and crews are ok and they have landed safely in las vegas. >> michelle: good to hear. a skating rink in southwestern japan has had to temporarily close its doors after a fire storm of online criticism because it froze fish into the rink. nearly 5,000 fish bought at a local fish market were frozen into the ice.

fish including a sting ray. the event kicked off on novembe. the idea to give visitors a sense of skate ago top the sea but people weren't feeling it. people criticized the rink and expressed pity for the fish. they apologized for upsetting people. that skating rink will reopen as a normal rink sometime in the near future. >> dana: no fun the weekend. they had a lot of snow there and had some wrecks. some of them involved big rigs so it shut down the highway for a couple of hours. this is a major freeway between reno and sacramento. the summit tops out at 8,000 feet. here we had snow much lower than that. >> michelle: i'm excited for the sun to come up to see if you can

diet i was watching kevin last night on play back this morning. had this great time lapse from mt. charleston. started with a few sprinkles and all of a sudden snow up on the mt. >> michelle: when the sun comes up, will we be able to see the snow capped mountains? >> kelly: we are going to have clouds out there so might be hard to see it at first but it is there. this camera. aas the sun came up skies were clear but watch this. look at those clouds building n. saw a lot of activity over the spring mountain range. i saw a dusting of snow on the sheep mountain range. we're seeing more clouds in the area right now and that is keeping temperatures warmer than

eldorado 47. summerlin 46. here is the clouds diving to the south and east. we have this big band of precipitation in the area. a lot of this is not reaching the ground. we are seeing light showers between las vegas and mesquite. snow showers in the higher elevations at or above 4,000 feet. this is pushing to the south and east. maybe a couple of keep that in mind as you head out the door. we are looking at dry conditions through the rest of the day. decreasing clouds as well. maybe in the late afternoon we'll be able to see that snow up in the spring mountains. 57 is the expected high today. that is below normal for this time of year. tonight a low of 41. winds gusting to 40 miles per hour. tomorrow 56 and more gusty winds friday and saturday.

detonated an improvised bomb found in a trash can overnight. nobody was injured or at least no reports of any injuries. here is video of the bomb squad there detonating this device. it was later shown at a press conference as an ied. a street sweeper called police when she found a cell phone attached to a the cylinder to the phone. it was about 65 feet from the u.s. embassy. >> dana: one man is dead and an officer in the hospital being treated for injuries after an incident at a wal-mart in kansas. officers following up on a call of a man with a gun at the wal-mart last night.

the other officers opened fire and killed the man. the officer struck was taken to an area hospital and is being streeted for nonlife threatening injuries. they are going to conduct this investigation. all the officers involved have been put on administrative leave which is normal in these circumstances. >> michelle: a man recovering after he was shot by a security guard at a theater in the san francico the incident prompted an evacuation. it happened just before 7:00 last night and started with a disturbance inside the theater. a man threatened the security guard saying he had a gun and he would shoot him. no gun was found on that man. he was transported to a hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. the identity of the suspect and that security guard not available and thankfully nobody
