the first time from the man who risked his life to save his classmates. frances has more on that. >> chilling. 30-year-old chris mintz has been tout ased as a hero. he was recently released from the hospital recovering from five gunshot wounds that broke his leg. mintz posted a compelling account on facebook telling his

version of what happened that day. chris mintz said october 1st started out like any he was in a writing class at snyder hall. then gunshots that sounded like firecrackers went off. mintz writes that he took off running, yelling and warning people in the library. incredibl incredibly, he made his way back toward the classroom are chris harperveyance wawa evans was targeting victims, "i motioned my figure over my mouth communicating to be quiet and motioned both hands down for them to stay down. i heard the sirens coming down and yelled to the guy in the parking lot, "you need go get the cops." all of a sudden, the shooter opened the door beside the door to my left. he leaned half of his torso out and started shooting. he was so nonchalant through it all, like he was playing a video game and showed no emotion. the shotsnocked me to the me. he shot me again while i was on the ground and hit my finger and

you are realistic of combat and showcasing the survival skills of working journalists. why did you choose to focus on this area and the ptsd? >> this is a book i always wanted to write. i wanted to write an authentic account of the issue. the book beginin with a little bobo with a hair lip and abandoned in a sarejevo. the siege began and the boy was there for two years. that's how i begin the novel. i actually met the kid. i always wondered i wished i had taken a story step further and said to the parents that is your kid is okay. i never did that. and the tragic events take place.
