during a confrontation with an armed suspect fleeing police. officials say randolph holder was pronounced dead at harlem hospital shortly after he arrived in critical condition. >> tonight he did what every other officer in the nypd does when the call comes. he ran towards danger. >> i heard 10 or 12 shots. >> the shooting in new york city's east hahaem neighborhood occurred as holder and his partners were responding to a call of shots fired. holder, a five-year veteran, and another officer confronted an armed man, and in an exchange of gunfire holder was shot in his head. the suspect was later caught several blocks away with a gunshot wound to his leg. holder's the fourth new york city police officer r lled in the past 11 months. in may brian moore was killed when a gunman opened fire on moore and his partner. and last december a gunman approached officers rafael ramos and wenjian lu as they sat in their cars, shooting them both

in terms of false positives, these are finding things on mamaography where we need to call a patient back for either an additional view or an ultrasound and that really only happens in 10% of cases. with our new digital imaging, we are much better at decreasing the number of false positives, but, still, yes, 1% to 2% will wind up with a biopsy, but can i tell you in my practice and generally speaking to physicians at take care of patients, we are able to with those additional views limit patient having biopsies and when they do have a biopsy and it's benign, they breathe a sigh of relief, and no one would want to miss finding breast cancer early. >> i'm out of time but i have to ask, always an admonition, talk to your doctor and get a mammogram if you want, but will insurance pay for it if it's not a recommendation? >> rightht now these are guidelines and nothing is written in one. talk to your doctor. we don't know what insurance

>> since 2008 the dempsey center provides support, education and wellness services from massage to financici advice to anyone impacted by cancer for free. it was dempsey's mom who inspired his family to start the center. >> it was i think 1997 that your mom, amanda, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. >> the my sister called and said that mom had been diagnosed with cancer. she had ovariri cancer and the tutur was theize of a grapapruit and that she needed to go into surgery immediately. >> dempsey's mother battled her cancer for many years, but she also volunteered at the center. plus, she was kind of like mother hen to everybody who came in here. >> my mother would certainly control it, yes. that was part of her thing, but, yeah, i thought -- i thinknkt meant moreeo her than sheould verbalize, and she wanted to give back, and she was incredibly vulnerable that always had a strong facade, you know, and for her to come back

proposed construction on morningside avenue was the topic at a public meeting tuesday of the sioux city city council. the work will be done from south royce to south nicollet and is set to begin next spring. residents have expressed mixed feelings about the plan. "it's kind of split," said city engineer, glenn ellis. "a lot of people are glad that improvements are coming but at the same time they feel there's too much construction going on in the city. we do have a follow-up project after this one to take place the following year to extend to lakeport, so the construction will continue." construction is scheduled to start next april and be done around this time next fall. here's ben with weather.
