wx timer @ :40 >> the lawyer for a 25-year- old woman accused of the lawyer for a 25-year- old woman accused of driving a car into a crowd of people at an oklahoma state university homecoming parade over the weekend insists she wasn't drunk. four people died and dozens were injured. adacia chambers of stillwater faces her first court appearance today on charges including second- degree murder. attorney tony coleman says he thinks chambers has a mental illness. police are awaiting blood tests to determine whether chambers was impaired by drugs or alcohol. hundreds gathered on the campus of oklahoma state to pray for the victims of saturday's homecoming parade crash and to help each other cope with the tragedy. for many students it's been difficult to make sense of the tragedy.

just two years old. the others killed, nakita prabhikar, bonnie stone and marvin stone were all remembered and prayed for at sunday's vigil. many are also praying for adacia chambers, the driver of the car. the vigil's organizers are encouraged by the massive turnout, and know that events like these can help heal their broken community. (s/matt mills/campus minister:29-:40) "when you experienced trauma you just want to be together. you just want to be next to somebody to voice what you saw, what you heard. and want to try to make sense of it." chambers is expected to make her first court appearance monday. a canadian whale- watching boat carrying 27 people sank yesterday off the coast of british columbia, killing at least five people. the boat was based in tofino, on vancouver island. authorities said several rescue vehicles were sent to the pier after the boat sent out a distress signal around five p-m local time. the canadian military sent a helicopter and plane to the waters off the coast to search for the passengers and crew.

search operations are still underway for the people still unaccounted for. new orleans police are looking for whoever shot an off-duty officer. commander derek frick is said to be in critical condition in the hospital. authorities say he was driving an unmarked car and not wearing a uniform when a bullet hit the side of his neck and face sunday night. derek is a 24-year veteran of the force....recen tly been promoted to commander. the campus of north carolina central university was briefly on lockdown late sunday as police sought an active shooter. the college issued an emergency alert saying there had been "active gunfire" around 11 p-m. the lockdown was lifted just before midnight. durham police say one person sustained a non-life-threatening injury in a shooting on campus just befroe 11. police said the shooter hadn't been apprehended. no further details were immediately available. police continue to investigate

two people to the hospital. the incident happened inside the 1400 block of isabella st. in sioux city, shortly before 11 saturday night. while sioux city police were on their way to the home, a gun was discharged. authorities say 35 year- old nadia brody and 23 year-old mykale johnson were engaged in a mutual domestic assault, where a handgun was involved. during the struggle, the gun went off. johnson was shot in the hand, while an unnamed female was hit in the chest. authorities believe both individuals were struck by the same, single bullet. "investigators are now working with our victims and witnesses to determine what exactly did happen," said lt. rex mueller of the sioux city police department. "so we're really in the very early stages here. and we're just trying to make sure that we've got all the evidence we need to get, we get all the witnesses and victims accounted for." brody has been charged with aggravated domestic and felon in possesion of a firearm. johnson is charged with aggravated domestic and carrying a weapon. the unidentified victim was taken to

mercy medical center. her condition is not considered life threatening at this time. an autopsy confirms that a man who's body was found on a boat ramp in the missouri river drowned. 32-year-old robert galvin was reported missing on october 18th. his body was found friday morning on the homer boat ramp. galvin grew up in siouxland but currently lived in omaha. his death remains under investigation. the national weather service confirmed a tornado touched down sunday morning in louisiana and heavy rain and wind continued into the night. a tornado watch remained in effect until 2 am monday. the harsh weather caused flooding in some areas, caused damage to roof and even knocked out power for portions of new orleans. one woman was injured in the storm, and police say weather could be a factor in a crash that killed a 24 year old man, when his car went into a canal. hurricane patricia left surprisingly little damage in mexico in its wake and quickly dissipated into a low-pressure system that posed little

the hurricane's most powerful punch landed on a sparsely populated stretch of mexico's pacific coast before the system crashed into mountains that weakened its potentially catastrophic force. the storm knocked down trees and power lines in some areas, but the devastation appeared to be far less than feared. there were no reports of deaths or injuries. meanwhile, record flooding has led to several water rescues in houston. fire officials say multiple cars quickly became submerged trying to drive below an underpass. they also rescued two homeless men sleeping under the bridge. a record amount of rainfall fell sunday... with some areas seeing upwards of a foot of rain. so far though, no injuries have been reported. two fishermen rescued an 18-month-old syrian boy and his family when their boat sank off the turkish coast. the fishermen revived the toddler found floating face-down. the refugee family was headed for greece when their boat sank. little mohammed hasan recovered, and his family thanked the rescuers in person saturday.

him a second life." the defense department says a coalition airstrike in iraq has destroyed the isis prison where a raid on thursday freed 70 hostages and killed a u-s commando. the pentagon today released serial video of the airstrike. the isis prison compound was in northern iraq. the hostages who were freed from their militant captors included at least 20 members of the iraqi security forces. thursday's raid was conducted by iraqi and u-s special forces. european union leaders are looking for answers to the migrant crisis. in particular, what to do about the people flooding into the balkans on their journey across the continent. serbia, romania, and bulgaria warn they'll close their borders if other european nations stop accepting the migrants and refugees. among the measures they're considering -- more border guards and checkpoints in the balkans the obama administration says kids spend too much time taking "unnecessary" exams in schools. saturday, president obama said

"she started making it for serenity, really." using needles to mend her pain

18 years ago the nafe family had their first baby and decided they wanted to create a unique memory. ktiv's tommie clark went to the photoshoot yesterday where they recreated that memory and spoke with families about what it means to them.

"it's cool to see everybody grow up and mature and see who they become today and hopefully remember these people for years to come," said kingsley-pierson senior, scottie plendl. sunday, 14 of those same kids got together to recreate the picture. "i can remember just in first grade and what not looking at the picture and wondering who all that was and so now it's pretty cool 18 years later that we're taking another one," said kingsley-pierson senior, scottie plendl. after all these years they say it's great to get together to take this picture before they all split ways and some go off to college. "i think this is just good to look back and have the memories of all of us together once we have families of our own," said kingsley-pierson senior, anna schmid. with just 49 students in the kingsley-pierson class of 2016, they say they've stuck together through the years and they're just a close-knit group. in kingsley, iowa...tommie

(--- reporterlive tag ---) there's still fallout from trump re-tweeting an insult to iowa voters after that first poll came out. trump says an intern did it. he apologized. it's been removed. i'm tracie potts in washington, now back to you. >> republican presidential candidate donald trump is slated to speak at sioux city's west high school on tuesday night. but, an online petition, asks the superintenden t of sioux city's schools to not allow trump to use the school for his speech. there's a move on-dot- org petition with over 1- thousand signatures calling trump a "bully" and he quote "doesn't belong in iowa schools." the petition specifically cites his rhetoric towards hispanics. this petition highlights the district's "zero tolerance" policy toward bullying. superintendent dr. paul gausman addressed the concerns surronding trump's visit, saying this isn't the district supporting bullying in any manner, rather abiding by school board policy. "the policy doesn't give me the ability to decide which candidates we would approve, which candidates we would not approve," said

"the policy doesn't give me the ability to use a petition to help make my decision, so we have followed policy to the letter and will follow law to the letter." move on-dot-org isn't the only group protesting trump's upcoming visits. on facebook, nearly 900 people have said they will attend a protest to "silence donald trump". the group says the protest isn't about politics, but quote "the safety of our community." officers came together for the law enforcement appreciation day tailgate before the briar cliff vs. morningside football game on saturday. ktiv's tommie clark was there and spoke with men and women who were recognized at this special event.

"there was a lot of rhetoric going around some months ago and it continues on a little bit about anti-law enforcement, but i think that's not here. everyone we go we hear nothing but positive. and it's fortunate where we serve. i always feel bad for officers in those areas where they don't have such great community support, but we're very fortunate and today is a shining example of the community rallying around public safety," said sheriff of woodbury county, dave drew. during the tailgate there were games, different types of law enforcement vehicles for the public to see, and a pregame meal-- with proceeds going to families of fallen officers. "it makes me feel good that people do care you know with all the people do care," said patrol seargant with woodbury sheriff's department, david benson. officers say sometimes those most forgotton are spouses, so they appreciate their husbands, wives and children being honored alongside them. they say they look at it as one big team working together. "we're here to support our law support in this world for them and i'm a proud wife that's ready to be out here and invite everyone to come out because these guys work they're tails off," said wife of woodbury county deputy vincent dvorak, jen dvorak. "after the tailgate, law enforcement personnel gathered for a recognition ceremony on the field right before the big game."

police officers, sheriff deputies, state and federal officers from communities all over the region gathered on the football field. there was a flag presentation by joint honor guard, and then the wife of a local police officer, rochelle clark sang the national anthem. the woodbury county sheriff says it's a special day. "it's overwhelming and we really appreciate the support. one thing about siouxland community is they've always supported law enforcement and to be recognized on a day like this, it means a great deal and very appreciative," said sheriff of woodbury county, dave drew. the ceremony not only recognized law enforcement peronnel, but also one family that lost a loved one in the line of duty.

the ceremony not only recognized law enforcement personnel, but also one family that lost a loved one in the line of duty. on september 13, 2013, officer jamie buenting of the rockwell city police department was killed in the line of duty. since that day, officer buenting's wife, mandy, has been working to advocate for the families of fallen officers and help them receive benefits faster. buenting says many people don't realize the man or woman behind that badge and that all lives matter-- including blue lives. during the ceremony saturday, mayor bob scott presented a check for $2,000 to the buenting family. sioux city police officers kevin mccormick and jill fitch escorted the buentings to the field. both officers were shot in the line of duty here in sioux city in separate incidents. there was a round of applause in appreciation for the buenting family, officer mccormick and officer fitch, and all local law enforcement. "it's absolutely amazing to have all the law enforcement out here not just supporting my family, but supporting eachother. the law enforcement community is a thin blue line. we're all together, brothers and

on wall street, the week begins with some optimism. stocks rose friday after strong earnings from the market has been gradually regaining ground following a swoon in august and september. the dow climbed 157 points to 17,646 the nasdaq rose 111 points to 5,031, and the s&p index climbed 22 points to 2,075. apple fans can pre-order the apple t-v 4 beginning today. apple's streaming box comes with the ability to install new apps and to search for video with voice controls via apple's assistant, siri. there's also a glass- touchpad remote for navigating.

or injuries. meanwhile, record flooding has led to several water rescues in houston. fire officials say multiple cars quickly became submerged trying to drive below an underpass. they also rescued two homeless men sleeping under the bridge. a record amount of rainfall fell sunday... with some areas seeing upwards of a foot of rain. so far though, no reported. two fishermen rescued an 18-month-old syrian boy and his family when their boat sank off the turkish coast. the fishermen revived the toddler found floating face-down. the refugee family was headed for greece when their boat sank. little mohammed hasan recovered, and his family thanked the rescuers in person saturday. the boy's mother said they "gave him a second life." the defense department says a coalition airstrike in iraq has destroyed the isis prison where a raid on thursday freed 70 hostages and killed a u-s commando. the pentagon today released serial video of the airstrike.

"i just felt really motivated to perform when i was there," said phelps. "there's just so much history in eugene. it's just a great place to be to be surrrounded by those kind of people to drive you to be great." 18 years ago the nafe family had their first baby and decided they wanted to create a unique memory. ktiv's tommie clark went to the photoshoot yesterday where they recreated that memory and spoke with families about what it means to them.

"it just gives them memories and a picture to have. i know that we cherish it as parents and i hope that they get something out of it too," said parent, verlyn nafe. 17 babies were lined up in their carriers in front of a limo that the nafe family owned through their limo service. a couple kids moved away over the years, but the majority grew up together in kingsley, iowa. "it's cool to see everybody grow up and mature and see who they become today and hopefully remember these people for years to come," said kingsley-pierson senior, scottie plendl. sunday, 14 of those same kids got together to recreate the picture. "i can remember just in first grade and what not looking at the picture and wondering who all that was and so now it's pretty cool 18 years later that we're taking another one," said kingsley-pierson senior, scottie plendl. after all these years they say it's great to get together to take this picture before they all split ways and some go off to college. "i think this is just good to look back and have the memories of all of us together once we have families of

trump to use the school for his speech. there's a move on-dot- org petition with over 1- thousand signatures calling trump a "bully" and he quote "doesn't belong in iowa schools." the petition specifically cites his rhetoric towards hispanics. this petition highlights the district's "zero tolerance" policy toward bullying. superintendent dr. paul gausman addressed the concerns surronding trump's visit, saying this isn't the district supporting bullying in any manner, rather abiding by school board policy. "the policy doesn't give me the ability to decide which candidates we would approve, which candidates we would not approve," said sioux city community schools superintendent, dr. paul gausman. "the policy doesn't give me the ability to use a petition to help make my decision, so we have followed policy to the letter and will follow law to the letter." move on-dot-org isn't the only group protesting trump's upcoming visits. on facebook, nearly 900 people have said they will attend a protest to "silence donald trump". the group says the protest isn't about politics, but quote "the safety of our community."

officers came together for the law enforcement appreciation day tailgate before the briar cliff vs. morningside football game on saturday. ktiv's tommie clark was there and spoke with men and women who were recognized at this special event.

"it makes me feel good that people do care you know with all the negative things that happen, people do care," said patrol seargant with woodbury sheriff's department, david benson. officers say sometimes those most forgotton are spouses, so they appreciate their husbands, wives and children being honored alongside them. they say they look at it as one big team working together. "we're here to support our law enforcement. there's not enough support in this world for them and i'm a proud wife that's ready to be out here and invite everyone to come out because these guys work they're tails off," said wife of woodbury county deputy vincent dvorak, jen dvorak. "after the tailgate, law enforcement personnel gathered for a recognition ceremony on the field right before the big game." >> police officers, sheriff deputies, state and federal

officers from communities all over the region gathered on the football field. there was a flag presentation by joint honor guard, and then the wife of a local police officer, rochelle clark sang the national anthem. sheriff dave drew says it's a special occasion. "it's overwhelming and we really appreciate the support. one thing about siouxland community is they've always supported law enforcement and to be recognized on a day like this, it means a great deal and very appreciative," said sheriff of woodbury county, dave drew. the ceremony not only recognized law enforcement personnel, but also one family that lost a loved one in the line of duty. on september 13, 2013, officer jamie buenting of the rockwell city police department was killed in the line of duty. since that day, officer buenting's wife, mandy, has been working to advocate for the families of fallen officers and help them receive benefits faster. buenting says many people don't realize the man or woman behind that badge and that all lives matter-- including blue lives.

mayor bob scott presented a check for $2,000 to the buenting family. sioux city police officers kevin mccormick and jill fitch escorted the buentings to the field. both officers were shot in the line of duty here in sioux city in separate incidents. there was a round of applause in appreciation for the buenting family, officer mccormick and officer fitch, and all local law enforcement. "it's absolutely amazing to have all the law enforcement out here not just supporting my family, but supporting eachother. the law enforcement community is a thin blue line. we're all together, brothers and sisters, families, spouses, officers, kids-- it's a great big family and it's amazing to have their support for me and it's amazing for me to be here for them," said wife of fallen officer jamie buenting, amanda buenting. buenting says the biggest thing she's learned from the whole experience is to love a little deeper, let the little things go, and

and pop-here are the stories making top headlines in siouxland this monday morning. sioux city police continue to investigate a weekend shooting that sent two people to the hospital. police say 35 year-old nadia brody and 23 year-old mykale johnson were fighting late saturday night in the 14-hundred block of isabella street. during the struggle, a handgun went off. johnson was shot in the hand. an unnamed female was hit in the chest by the same bullet. their wounds were not life-threatening. brody is charged with aggravated domestic and
