trump has often saidthat the challenges of the world, including isis atrocities, don't leave much room for a candidate to worry about having the proper "tone." the obama administration is calling for less standardized testing in our nation's schools. a plan, unveiled during a meeting of school leaders, at the white house, recommends schools use no more than 2-percent of classroom time for standardized tests. the plan also asks that the tests enhance teaching and learning and provide a clearer picture of how students are performing. "we're going to work with states, school districts, teachers and parents to make sure that we are not obsessing about testing." according to a recent study, students in big city public schools cucuently take, on average, about 112 mandatory standardized tests between pre-k and high school graduation. plans for sioux city's new bryant elementary are moving forward.

sioux city police continue to investigate a shooting that sent two people to the hospital friday night. the couple involved in the late night shooting have a history of domestic disputes. ktiv's tiffany lane has the details.

authorities believe both individuals were struck by the same single bullet. the handgun was later found by officers in a neighbor's yard. broady has been charged with aggravated domestic assault and felon in possesion of a firearm. johnson is charged withth aggravated domesttc and carrying a weapon. the unnamed victim was taken to mercy medical center. her condition is not considered life threatening. both johnson and broady have preliminary hearings on november second at the woodbury county law enforcement center. the judge in the case issued a no contact order against broady, so their hearings will be separate.>> this isn't the first criminal case involving johnson and broady in a domestic dispute. on september 29th of this year, authorities say johnson punched broady in the face during a verbal argument inside a store at the southern hills mall in sioux city. johnson was charged with domestic abuse-assault. he has a pretrial conference scheduled for november 20th. broady was also convicted for felony forgery in wisconsin twice in 2005. a judge has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of a teenagege ststdent charged with atatmpted muer in the shooting of a south dakota high school principal. sixteen-year-old mason buhl is charged as an adult on one count each of attempted murder and the commission of a felony while

armed with a firearm. buhl is accused of confronting harrisburg high school principal kevin lein with a handgun in his office back on september 30th, and firing a single shot with a handgun. lein survived. e suspect accused of running over several people during oklahoma state university's homecoming parade made her first court appearance today. adacia chambers appeared in court on a video monitor, but her family and friends were present. a judge set chambers' bond at 1 million dollars. her attorney told reporters chambers spent time in a mental spital. he descibed d at that me ewas like for herer "however durina visitation visited her she was aming at the mouth, her arms were extended out. his exact words were she was in a zombie-like state" according to chambers' father, doctors at ththmental hospital changed her prescription and her father said she returned to normal. three suspts remain at-large

in saint louis after they knocked over a nun while shoplifting. surveillance video captured two of the suspects running out of a dick's sporting goods store in a st. louis, missouri mall last week with almost three- thousand dollars in merchandise. the male suspect plowed into an 87-year-old nun on his way out the dooror the woman suffered non-life threatening injuries. the university of mississippi has removed the state flag from its oxford campus because the flag contains the confederate battle emblem which many see as offensive. the move came less than one week after the university senate voted to call for the removal of the flag. pressure to take the flag down started mounting after the june m msacre of nine blblk worshipers at a church in chchleston, south carolina. the flag be sent to the university's archives. still to come... siouxland students take a lunch break with local law enforcement to break down barriers.

law enforcement personnel from around siouxland sat down and had lunch with some students in ida grove, iowa, today. o-a b-c-i-g high school hosted their first "law enforcement appreciation meal" during their lunch hour. the school invited o oicers from sac and ida counties. also invited were state troopers from the cherokee and denison posts, d-c-i agents, and fire marshals. the principal says the students have wanted to have more outreach to the community. so, they hosted this meal to show appreciation to local law enforcement, and students say it was fun to see another side to those officers. "it's nice to get to know them. a lot of people think like police officers oh they're for tickets and they just get a bad rap sometimes i guess. it's really

they're people too," said junior, cole veltri. office say they want students to know that no matter what, law enforcement personnel are for them. the high school's principal says he hopes to continue the lunch for years to come. a new siouxland youth soccer team will represent the united states next summer in two internatioiol tournaments. officials from the b-s-x soccer academy, the diablos soccer team and the norm waitt sr. ymca made the announcement , this afternoon. the team is made up of 20 players from north, east and south sioux and bishop heelan high schools. the team will be coached by the b-s-x soccer academy director who has international playing experience and sees the value in the opportunity for his players. "from my own experience, it will change your life," said head coach, carlos saenz. "you get to see didierent cultures, meet different t ople, see different t styles of soccer, so in any way, it's a greaexperience." the team will play in the gothia cup in sweden in july. they will then travel to denmark to play in the dana cup.

team captain henry deleon is excited and honored to have been chosen to represent his community. "it's a great opportunity because we're one of the only ones in our area to be able to go, and to be chosen feels really good," said deleon. the group will immediately begin raising funds needed for the trip, which will require about 80 thousand dollars for the 15-day experience. still to come.... a new study reveals that red and processed meat can cause cancer.

three straight double-digit losses has caused enough cracks in the iowa state football team - but there was apparenly more going on within the program than just losing games. cyclones head coach paul rhoads announced today that offensive coordinator mark mangino has left the program after just a season and a half with the team. rhoads would not say whether mangino quit or was fireded but heheid say that he and m mgino had t seen eye-to-eye for weeks, only citing a difference on "a few important items." the cyclones rank 83rd in the country in scoring offense, at 26-point-9 points per game - that puts isu at 7th in the big 12. passing game coordinator todd sturdy will take over for mangino, starting this saturday against texas. "it's been ongoing for several and we've been trying to work that out," said head coach paul oads. "in the end, we couldn't comemeo a conclusion togethehe and he's decided to not accept the
