there was no one inside when the fire broke out. we spoke with the fire rescue team on the scene. "now we're just going through and we still have some fire that's in some of the voids in the walls etc. we're just opening up some walls and making sure the fire's completely out," said assistant chief, captain dave ahlers. the fire caused severe damage to e house and it is nono red-tagged by sioux city inspection services. we had a treat of an evening from mother-nature as temperatures gradually fell into the 50s before bottoming out in the 30s tomorrow morning. after that, we'll bounce back even more into the 70s sunday afternoon with lots of sunshine. see graphics. your 7-day forecast is coming up in 10 minutes

we're back now with details on a large asteroid that scientists only discovered this month. today, it made a relatively close approach to earth, giving astronomers a chance to gather data on a big space rock. the so-called halloween asteroid even looks like a skull from one angle. this video was shot by a telescope on earth as the asteroid approached. it's estimated to be about 13-hundred feet in diameter, and was due to shoot past our planet this afternoon... traveling at 22 miles per second. for those who've trick- or-treated before, we all know candy is the name of the game. but some houses you come across, opt for healthier options. though ktiv's sam curtiss found one local dentist

saturday night. halloween. parents and kids traveling street light to street light. dressed in costumes from batman to power rangers. and horror movie classics like jason and leatherface. all after one thing "trick or treat," said a trick-or- treater. candy, or in this girls case pretzels. "yeah," said a trick-or-treater. over at the giese household, laura and her husband wait for trick-or- treaters. "ninja turtle," said laura giese. "we're handing out candy," said laura giese. "you got to have a little fun on halloween." which to kids is a more attractive option than a tooth brush or floss. you know something a dentist might do. by the way, laura's a dentist. "i like to have fun ya know," said giese. in giese's seven years of work as a dentist, she says she's always given out candy on halloween compared to oral hygenic products. "i know it will probably get consumed and

not end up in the trash," said laura giese. "i try to pick out candy that's not so bad on their teeth," said laura giese. "that's why we're handing out chocolate." as kids start to go through the nights treasures. giese says "the best thing to do is avoid the really chewy candies [or] sticky candies." but she says candy consumption is unavoidable so it's all about limits. "everything in moderation," said laura giese. something her three kids are well versed in. but we all have cravings.
