brad's here -- with a special super bowl story. super bowl champions are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the big game, by donating special football's to their high school. ex-49'er john harty had his day at bishop heelan. and, the undefeated hawkeyes are playing an indiana team that's winless in the big ten. so why are they worried?
6:19 pm
40 years ago john harty won the 1975 state championship with bishop heelan's football team. just over six years later, he was a super bowl champion. today, an nfl initiative let him honor his roots. harty was a member of the 49'ers super bowl 16 win in 1982, after a standout career with the hawkeyes. he shared life experiences and personal advice with heelan students and delivered a golden football to the school. it's part of an nfl program commemorating schools that had a positive impact on players. every super bowl player, or coach, can do this at their high school. harty says he hopes his words resonate with students. "it's great to comeback," said john harty. "if i can kind of inspire a couple of kids somehow and motivating them to develop a really good attitude, a winning attitude, take pride in the whole pride concept that heelan's about, then that's time well spent to

total offense, but the hawkeyes are third in total defense. the hoosiers score a lot of points, but they give up a lot -- they're last in the big ten, giving up 37 points per game. iowa doesn't play a team with a winning record over their last four games, but winning a road game would help pad their resume. "we haven't been perfect this year," said coach kirk ferentz. "our record is, but we haven't been perfect. but the good news is we're playing like a football team in that if one area is dropping a little bit, somebody else compensates and picks it up." "every team that we've played so far has brought something to the table we didn't expect going into the week," said quarterback c.j. beathard.
