the very latest on news 4 agood evening, thanks for joining us, i'm robert lowe. a night out on the town with a significant other can get pricey. but, as ktiv's sam curtiss tells us, a large group of northeat nebraska law enforcement and ems personnel that took to the town, had the tab picked up for them.

saturday night in nebraska. you could find most of dakota county's emergency personnel in one spot. mingling over food, drinks and the huskers game. "we've been doing this for over 25 years," said rick bosquet. the south sioux city knights of columbus bringing law enforcement and ems staff together. all agencies in the county were invited. even mercy aircare flew in. guided by pat moore, a 36- year vet with dakota city fire and rescue. "i thought i'd try it for a couple years," said pat moore, dakota city fire rescue. "i haven't quite made up my mind but i figure after this long might as well stay there." that's just his sense of humor. and hat's how the mood in the building was, light. well depending how the huskers were doing. "it's getting together with everybody and talking and enjoying it," said pat moore. moore says it's a good time for veterans and "the new guys" to bond and share stories. regradless if they work together. "we're all one fire department, we just live in different towns," said pat moore. which this town's people is reminding them that they appreciate the work they do. well past the last piece of meat or drink. that dinner was made possible by numerous donations throughout businesses in the community. a sioux city man has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars for sexually abusing three children. 55 year--old hector ranson gonzalez pleaded guilty on monday in woodbury county court. he was sentenced to three, 10 year prison terms that must be served consectuively. gonzalez told the court he performed sex acts with three children in 2003. they were all under 12 years of age at the time. a multi-car freight train derailment prompts highway closures and evacuations in western wisconsin. rescue officials say 32 cars derailed on a railroad track along the mississippi river in alma. several cars fell from the tracks into the water. officials say most of the cars involved were empty automobile racks and containers filled with ethanol. there were no reports of injuries. the coast guard says it's suspending the search for a passenger who jumped off a cruise ship early yesterday

35-year-old male passenger from brazil jumped off the side of the "oasis of the seas" around one a-m eastern time friday. the ship was stopped for about eight hours off the coast of the bahamas while crews searched for the man before returning to its dock in fort lauderdale today. a beautiful start to the weekend for more we'll toss it over to chief meterologist ron demers your 7-day forecast is coming up in 10 minutes for the second day in a row we saw slightly above aver age temperatures with a lot of sunshine. our temperatures are on an upward trajectory as a strong south wind will blow in here on sunday and send our highs into the lower 60s.

it was all hands on deck today at the methodist church in le mars, iowa. more than 50 volunteers came together to make 100 units that will provide clean drinking water for those in need. ktiv's tommie clark spoke with those volunteers.

"swim" founder, greg stout. while on a mission trip, stout realized how unsafe the drinking water was. so, he decided to do something about it--creating a nonprofit ministry that makes chlorine producing units. "one of these units that volunteers have been working on can purify water for an entire community." stout's simple unit breaks salt water down into a chlorine solution, which can then be used to disinfect water. volunteers did every step including cutting wires, molding and glueing containers, soldering them, and finally testing them out. "we're just understanding that we step out of our own lives and try to imagine how life is for others we can so easily do this and just a few of us can help so many others," said lifelong united methodist church of le mars member and volunteer, julie roy. volunteers say they feel that they're doing some good in the world and touching other's lives from a distance. "it provides people with a hands on opportunity to be involved in mission and ministry and to make a difference in people's lives in a very tangible way," said united methodist church of le mars pastor, john battern. once those in developing countries receive these units, they'll be able to produce their own, clean, drinking water. in le mars, iowa...tommie

stout has now been on more than 50 mission trips and plans to mentor others to begin projects in even more countries. if you've visited the sam's club in sioux city recently, you may have noticed a very special display of flags. this morning, those flags were part of an event honoring our veterans. "nats of singing" sam's club held their fifth veteran appreciation event where they invited veterans from all around siouxland. they came out for breakfast, sang the national anthem, and heard from fellow soldiers. a big part of the ceremony was the wall of honor-- full of flags and dog tags honoring each fallen iowa veteran. on that board, they're 28 fallen soldiers from sioux city alone. "i think it's great for us to show our support of the troops. i myself served in the national guard. at sam's club we appreciate everything our troops do. we want to put them first. we support them in every way we can," said

cross on war eagle drive in sioux city. it goes from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. there will also be free lunch provided and coats for military kids. we are now just about one year from the 2016 general election, and most of the white house hopefuls are hitting the trail in early primary states again this weekend. except for one republican frontrunner who is brushing up on his acting skills nbc's chris pollone reports.

7-0 - brent lammers pass deflected - everyone thinks play is over except jonathan bland - he picks up the live ball - 37 yard fumble ties it at 7. and then both teams offenses couldn't get drives together - logan weinandt with a sack here. 28 seconds left in the second quarter - taylor reedy finds tayib toussaint 20 y yrd score - reedy threw for 351 yards and 3 touchdowns. but it's upper iowa - coming away with the 34-31, double overtime win. the musketeers fell to omaha last night - hosting sioux falls tonight. first period - both teams getting plenty of shots off - evan smith faced 13 of them in goal for the musketeers in the first period - a kick save there. and then smith holds strong later - collecting that shot in the chest - smith had 20 saves.. but the stampede eventually break through - parker tuomie - second in the u-s-h-l in points - lines it up and buries the one-timer - 1-nothing sioux falls after one. second period, tuomie gets a break away - and that's deadly - second goal of hte night - sioux falls
