what they hope to take from the trip. that story coming up at ten. matt and sheila? republican presidential candidate carly fiorina will be in onawa, iowa this thursday. she'll be at the onama public library at noon. this will be the first stop of her swing through iowa before the republican debate in milwaukee tomorrow night. home base iowa says the state is making progress on making the lives of veterans better. today governor terry branstad along with members of the iowa national guard, v-a department, and home base iowa highlighted veteran's day events going on this wednesday across the state. for a full list of events, you can go to ktiv dot com and the link will be inside this story. the sioux city city council is scheduled to vote today on applying for a $4.6 million grant to help pay for street work needed for the new seaboard- triumph foods pork plant. the grant from the "revitalize iowa's sound economy" program would help pay for street work and signage recommended in a traffic study of the bridgeport west industrial area. the 264-million dollar plant

will employ more than 11- hundred people when it opens in two years. ktiv's robert lowe was at the meeting and will have more for us tonight on news 4 at ten. a housing project in northeast nebraska is being built faster than expected. hartington security bank branch president brandon baller plans are progressing rapidly to build more available housing in the area. baller says that not only does this project address the need for more housing, but it also helps a lot of local businesses. "when you look at all of the businesses and local contractors that are impacted when a house is built they say that those dollars get circulated seven times on average in the community. so we are very fortunate in hartington to have a number of local contractors that we can use." hartington has found a bigger need in housing than they have expected. instead of two and a half houses, 4 homes a year are being completed, putting phase two on the table earlier than anticipated. this expansion brings interest to an

area where rural housing has been an issue in recent past. the state of iowa is providing more than $900,000 to help the homeless in iowa. the community action agency of siouxland received more than and, the council on sexual assault and domestic violence $48,5000. the grants are funded with transfer tax. the iowa council on homelessness reports that more than homelessness or were at- risk of homelessness in 2014. more than 18-thousand were served by a shelter. it's another nice day in siouxland, but how long can we keep that around? meteorologist ben dorenbach joins us now with the first look at our forecast. weather ad-lib we followed up our beautiful weekend of weather with much of the same today, and we'll see another one just like it tomorrow. major changes arrive on wednesday when a powerful storm system makes its way across the middle of the

(ron) matt and shiela i'll be here for a while waiting for al roker to arrive, and hopefully talk with him. a sioux city woman will be turning a century old at the end of this month. and today, community members helped her celebrate at the siouxland center for active generations where she has been named "bingo bocian" because of her love for the game. rose bocian was born in sioux city and has lived there her entire life. she was married in 1940 and had two sons who live with her currently. she also has one grandson and three great grandkids who live in south dakota. bocian shares one key message to living a successful life. "if you want something, work for it. if you don't work you dont get nothing." today, bocian was crowned and given flowers and a cake to

anderson's corporation took place between last thursday night and friday morning. authorititi say a window was pried open and that entry was made to the business, but nothing was believed missing. anyone with information into the incident is asked to contact the clay county sheriff's office at the number on your screen. a norfolk, nebraska body art shop could face disciplinary action after a complaint that an unlicensed worker performed body piercings. the complaint alleges that "skini tattoos, body piercings, smoke shop and more" owner ralph johnson admitted the person in question performed body piercings from may to june of 2014. investigators spoke with a former employee, who confirmed that an employee was practiting without a properer license. nebraska's s torney general says the shop could face probation, license suspension and-or a penalty of up to 10-thousand dollars. an elk was shot yesterday in monona county iowa at the request of the iowa dnr. elk sightings in iowa are fairly common and when an elk is spotted, the dnr works to termine the best avavaable options. if the elk can be returned to

the proper owners, then they are. if not, they then pose a risk to spreading disease. removing a wandering elk is not allowed by the public. the animal appeared in front of a farmer combining his field. the monona county deputy put down the animal that w w estimateteto be 3 to 4 years old. a south dakota american indian tribe that sought to open the nation's first marijuana resort says it burned its crop after federal officials signaled a potential raid. the flandreau santee sioux president said the tribe had three weeks of discussions with authorities that culminatetewith a meeting in washington. he says the tribe wasn't told a raid was imminent -- only that one was possible if the government's concerns weren't addressed. he says the main holdup is whether the tribe can sell marijuana to non-indians, along with the origin of the seeds used for its crop. brad's here -- with another tough game coming up for iowa state. it seems like the cycloneseslay a ranked team almost every week. . fifth-ranked oklahoma state will bring a perfect record to ames on saturday -- we'll hear from the cyclones. and, the hawkeye wrestling team
