an o-w-i that led to a serious accident. a judge sentenced 39- year-old daniel harold rice to five years in prison after his conviction on a charge of "serious injury by vehicle while operating while intoxicated". back in january, a sioux county sheriff's deputy saw a pickup on its roof, in a field, with smoke coming out of the engine. the deputy found rice trapped inside. a passenger was ejected from the vehicle, and in critical condition. rice's blood alcohol content was point-2-6-2. that's more than three- times the legal limit. the passenger's injuries included broken ribs, broken legs, and a pelvic fracture.
