shutting down mosques that have radical leadership because of the paris attacks. he also told msnbc today that the government should increase surveillance in and around mosques. and in an interview with cnbc, the republican presidential candidate said it's time for americans to reconsider some civil liberties in light of the paris attacks. trump said at a weekend rally that things would have turned out differently had the victims of the attacks been armed. he repeated that assertion today. meanwhile, the french capital remains on edge amid three days of mourning. and heavily armed police conducted raids across the country today in connection with the attacks. n-b-c's bill neely reports from paris

officer and former assistant rescue chief, robert meins. the ceremony began with a message from the current fire chief, followed by an honor guard presentation. there was then a prayer, music, heartfelt speeches and a moment of silence. ...then they played the last call page. "copple, thank you for your service...and may you rest in peace." the sixteen-year veteran of the homer fire department left behind his wife, marilyn and three daughters-- molly, shelly and megan. "it's a healing process for the girls. they've grown up not having their dad around and that was hard," said gene copple's wife, marilyn copple. they're thankful for the memories and it's made them a stronger and closer family. the sioux city city council votes tonight whether to get behind a proposed agriculture exposition and learning center on the site of the former john morrell packing plant. the city's commitment would be 200-thousand dollars per year for ten years from the capital improvement plan budget, plus 12 acres of land. it would be contingent on a 2-million dollar pledge from woodbury county and one-million dollars in casino revenue from missouri river historical development. the ag expo is an 11-to-14 million dollar project. it would serve rural residents for agricultural activities, classes and livestock shows. the plans include 500 animal stalls and a possible hotel. if all the funding is secured, officials say it could open as early as 2017. u.s. agriculture secretary tom vilsack paid a visit to farmers in cuba. on friday, he visited a farmers

market in havana. the former iowa governor is the third u-s cabinet member to visit cuba since the two countries resumed diplomatic relations. vilsack also held a series of meetings with cuban officials on topics like fruit and vegetable export certification and field inspections... and at a cooperative farm in central cuba, he discussed soil management and crop diseases. vilsack's visit is aimed at laying the groundwork for future agricultural trade between the u.s. and the communist nation.

if you work hard, and you do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead. but the republicans... they want to go back to letting the super wealthy call the shots. they don't stand up for equal pay for women. they don't support paid family leave. they don't even really support refinancing student debt. we've got to get this economy working for the vast majority of americans, not just for those at the top. that's what i intend to do as president.
