"i felt the damage with every push and i had to look at all the trauma you caused." those powerful words were all that could be heard in a packed emotional courtroom tuesday morning. liz ford took the stand after passing by and looking in the eyes of the man that killed her husband troy ford in a hit-and-run. "he was extremely silly, very loving and caring, could be a little ornery at times, but through the last 19 years plus a few years of being together before that, whatever we went through, no matter how bad it was, we always came out on the other side much stronger." but on august 8th, life took an unexpected turn for the couple.

suppi was sentenced up to 25 years in prison. protesters camped out on the front lawn of the minneapolis police department's 4th precinct building for the third straight day yesterday. many arrived sunday afternoon and have not left, even as the weather turned wet and cool. the black lives matter protesters are insisting minneapolis police release the names of the two officers involved in shooting jamar clark. clark, who was unarmed, was fatally shot in the head early sunday morning. and they're demanding investigators share the video they have in the case. protesters say they're grateful one of their demands may soon be met, now that the mayor has requested a federal investigation into the shooting. but they still question why the police officers involved have not been identified. an explosion last night in sac county, iowa sent three people to the hospital. the sac county sheriff's office says the explosion happened at proliant at 101 main street in lytton, iowa.

the three were involved in welding in a storage tank when the explosion happened. their names are not being released at this time. it's been more than half a century in the making, but the increase of two to four lanes on highway 20 is near completion. yeserday, governor terry branstad and lieutenant governor kim reynolds commended all those who've made the final 40 a reality. ktiv's robert lowe was at the

a sioux city non-profit can now provide more people with counseling to prevent foreclosure of their homes. that is after the center for siouxland was presented a 15-thousand dollar check yesterday afternoon. it was provided by the wells fargo housing foundation. the money will help the center to continue to provide foreclosure prevention counseling to homeowners in an effort to stabilize neighborhood s.

provided programs and services to the siouxland community for 40 years. jonette spurlock said the money will allow center for siouxland to keep assisting those with certain financial needs. "the money from wells fargo is going to allow us to provide those services free of charge. basically a client comes in who is delinquent on their mortgage, and we help them navigate the system to work out some sort of favorable payment plan for both their servicer and for them." said jonette spurlock, executive director for center for siouxland jason gehling, market president for wells fargo, says he is impressed with all that center for siouxland has done. "what we've been impressed with center for siouxland is annually how they take a look at the needs, the ever changing needs of our community and adapt their skills and talents toward that each year." said jason gehling, market president for wells fargo. wells fargo and center for siouxland plan to continue their partnership long into the future. a program for high school students gathered for a parents night, last night at the sioux city educational service center. sioux city's air force j-r-

o-t-c members met to give parents and potential jrotc cadets the chance to learn more about the program. retired air force lieutenant colonel, larry brockshus, gave parents assurance that the programs ultimate goal is to build the life skills of their cadets. "we want them to graduate confident with the skills to be successful at what they choose to do." said air force lieutenant colonel, larry brockshus. "whether that's continuing to college, tech school, going into the job field or going into the military." jrotc cadet, makayla sullivan has been involved with the program since it started earlier this school year. to those thinking about joining, sullivan says as long as you put in the effort, anyone can be successful. "you have to watch your haircut, you have to dress properly, but other than that, just follow the rules and get the good grades," said rotc cadet, makayla sullivan. "you don't have to be a perfect student and then as long as you attempt will succeed fabulously." about 50 teens and parents showed interest in learning more

several businesses in iowa are switching their vehicles to natural gas to save money. and one siouxland city just opened a public pump so anyone can use natural gas in

> a northwest iowa business hopes to save money at the pumps.. by converting its fleet of vehicles to an alternate form of fuel. they're using compressed natural gas in their vehicles. options to get it are slowly expanding as the eighth public pump in iowa had it's ribbon-cutting yesterday. ktiv's sam curtiss has the story.

"it offers a more consistently lower priced fuel, especially for companies that own a number of vehicles," said stephanie weisenbach. and drives quite a number of miles like his trucks do, delivering grain and feed ingredients. the shell gas station in sioux center he's filling up at is the first in northwest iowa. "now in this part of the state, the answer to that question is that they do have somewhere to refuel," said stephanie weisenbach. meerdink even converted his personal truck. motor companies like gm, ford, dodge and honda offer domestic cars that would run on natural gas. but with only eight places to fill up in the state, using natural gas isn't as wide-spread domestically. there's a lot of questions you'd need to ask yourself like if you "drive enough miles for that upfront investment to make sense," said stephanie weisenbach. it cost meerdink about $8,000 to convert his truck. when you add-in his fleet of eight: roughly $400,000. bu his return on diesel since april 2014 is $180,000. budget came out in september. and since then, woodbury county has had major issues with it. the county collects three and a half million dollars every year that's put toward mental health. and county supervisors want to make sure that amount is matching up with the budget. there is also confusion as to if they have the money to hire more employees. last week the board decided to turn down hiring two more employees because of the concern that they're spending more than they're taking in. "it's a budget i can't understand and i want it to be more in line with how a county might do a budget-- breaking out salaries, funds, benefits and explaining what the money is going for. that's my big issue. and how we get there we'll have to work through that with the region," chairman, woodbury county supervisors, mark monson. monson says they plan to get an analyst to rework the budget. he also hopes they can sit down with experts to figure out what services are needed. students across one west virginia county will soon have wi-fi on their school

buses. leaders say the new service will help students in kanawha county... especially those with long bus rides... get a jump start on class work and research. the price tag for the service will be more than 63-thousand dollars each school year. the new service is not being well-received by everyone. some parents say the money should instead be used for seatbelts. it's an honor never before received in the history of sioux city community schools. nodland and sunnyside elementary schools received a 2015 national blue ribbon designation. "celebrate good times come on!" staff and students were decked out in blue from head to toe to celebrate yesterday. the elementary's had such a high level of performance the past five years, that they were nominated by the federal department of education to receive the special award. the award recognizes schools who have outstanding academic excellence. sioux city school's superintendent says it's a statement that the work they're doing is paying off. "this team here, the students, the parents, the staff members have really worked hard to bring

a prescription for olive oil? a research dietitian in rhode island has been prescribing the common kitchen staple - extra virgin olive oil - for years to her breast cancer patients. barbara morse silva has more in today's healthbeat four

american airlines is changing the way it calculates frequent flyer miles. starting next year, points will be based on ticket prices instead of miles traveled. this means flyers who rely on discounted fares or travel longer distances may not rack up rewards as quickly as they once did. but customers who spend more on last-minute flights or take shorter trips will benefit. the company will also be lowering the number of reward-miles required to redeem free flights. american is the last major airline carrier to change its loyalty program to a payment-based model. it is the most heavily-used airline in the u-s. hershey is rolling out a line of simple ingredient chocolates. the company is ditching artificial ingredients in this year's holiday milk chocolates kisses and hershey milk chocolate bars. the candies are the first in an effort to switch to simpler ingredients consumers recognize announced by the company earlier this year. a q-r code is printed on every package of the simple- ingredient candy.

two of the victims were taken to loring hospital in sac city, then transferred to omaha. the third victim was taken to the hospital in lake city. names of the injured have not been releasd. an investigator from the state fire marshal's office is due at the scene in lytton today. the south sioux city man charged in the hit-and-run death of a good samaritan in sioux city has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter. 29-year-old dustin suppi entered that plea yesterday in the death of 52-year old troy ford. suppi was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison and ordered to pay 150- thousand dollars in restitution. in august, suppi was slumped over the wheel of his pickup truck when ford came to check on him. suppi woke up startled, and sped away. as he fled, his trailer ran over ford. in court yesterday, a tearful suppi apologized to ford's widow and asked her for forgiveness. a sioux city agency that helps people avoid having their homes foreclosed gets a shot in the arm. the center for siouxland was presented a 15-thousand dollar check from the wells

"i'm just really sorry from the bottom of my heart because i did not mean to run your husband over," said suppi. "if i knew what help was like, then i probably would have accepted your help. i have an addiction problem. my life is ruined because i am an addict." an apology that liz says she may not ever be able to accept after the pain it has left her with. "i see the flashbaccs constantly of troy rolling out from under that trailer, laying in the street, which i can't drive on by my house anymore, laying in the hospital and laying in his coffin," said liz. a tragedy that will not only

a program for high school students gathered for a parents night, last night at the sioux city educational service center. sioux city's air force junior r-o-t-c members met to give parents and potential junior rotc cadets the chance to learn more about the program. air force officials say the program's goal is to build the life skills of their cadets. "we want them to graduate confident with the skillllto be successful at what they choose to do." said air force lieutenant colonel, larry brockshus. "whether that's continuing to college, tech school, going into the job field or going into the military." junior r-o-t-c cadet, makayla sullivan has been involved with the program since it started earlier this school year. to those thinking about joining, sullivan says as long as you put in the effortrtanyone can be successful. "now in this part of the state, the answer to that question is that they do have somewhere to refuel," said stephanie weisenbach. meerdink even converted his personal truck. motor companies like gm, foror dodge and honda offer domestic cars that would run on natural gas. but with only eight places to fill up in the state, using natural gas isn't as wide-spread domestically. there's a lot of questions you'd need to ask yourself like if you "drive enough miles for that upfront investment to make sense," said stephanie weisenbach. it cost meerdink about $8,000 to convert his truck. when you add-in his fleet of eight: roughly $400,000. bubuis return on diesel since apriri2014 is $180,000.
