crisp is in the sac county jail, tonight. charges have been dropped against a man who was arrested in october for a sioux city shooting. 23-year-old mykale johnson was initially charged with aggravated domestic and carrying a weapon. those charges have been dropped. johnson was involved in the shooting incident at the 1400 blococof isabella street in sioux city in october. authorities said 35 year- old nadia brody and johnson were engaged in a mutual domestic assault, where a handgun was involved. during the struggle, the gun went off. johnson was shot in the hand, while an unnamed female was hit in the chest. broady has pleaded not guilty to possession of a firearm, domestic abuse assault and reckless use of a firearm in an incident a sioux city man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual abuse. investigators say 20-year- old alex anderson met up with the 13-year-old female victim at the icu waiting room at mercy medical center. he then kissed her several times and put his hand in her shorts. thorities charged anderson with 3rd-degree sexual abuse.

officials at mercy medical center say their security staff was alerted about the situation, and they called sioux city police. a pretrial hearing is set for march 2016. a judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a woman charged following an arson-related fire. 28-year old cassie zoubek was set to stand trial on charges of witness tampering stemming from a felony second- degree arson conviction after zoubek was sentenced to 10 to 12 years in prison in july. zoubek pleaded guilty for her role in burning down a mobile home, in norfolk, in october 2014. on the witness tampering charge, zoubek is accused of asking a whereabouts on the night the mobile home was set on fire. today, a judge declared a mistrial after three of the jurors selected for the 12-person jury declared business and personal conflicts that could interfere with a potential trial. a new jury will be selected and a new trial date is expected to be set for december. the details on the keystone xl pipeline after transcanada withdrew its

transcanada has withdrawn its application for route approval for the keystone xl oil pipeline through nebraska, but a spokesman says the company reserves the right to re-apply. the company made the announcement today, ahead of tomorrow's scheduled appearance before the nebraska public service commission for a planning conference. before president obama rejected a

federal permit for the project earlier this month, nebraska had been a stumbling block because of lawsuits filed by landowners and environmental groups. a company spokesman says transcanada may reapply in the future and is still committed to completing the pipeline. oil prices are falling again, and drivers may benefit at the pump. the price for a barrel of crude dropped below 40 dollars today for the first time since august. oil prices have fallen 14 percent this month alone. experts blame the drop on a massive supply glut from opec nations, as well as u-s oil production growth and a strong dollar. the low oil prices should mean good news for u-s drivers enjoying gas prices hovering around or below two dollars a gallon. the price of regular unleaded gasoline in iowa dropped 12 cents to close the week at $2.18 per gallon. prices are only slightly higher in neighboring nebraska and south dakota. fresh off his endorsement of republican presidential candidate ted cruz, western iowa congressman steve king will campaign for the texas senator, in sioux city, on friday. both king and cruz will headline an event, on the briar cliff university campus,

northwest iowa could have as many as four state football champions by the end of the week. we heard from mmc and akron-westfield last night -- they play on thursday. western christian and spirit lake play in their title games on friday. the first game on friday has western christian taking on iowa city regina in class 1a at 11:00 a-m. it's the first championship game for the eight-ranked wolfpack. regina has won five straight state titles -- that's an iowa state record -- and have won 81 of their last 83 games. western christian just started playing varsity football in 2- thousand-4, so their program has come a long way. "we knew as a program, especially football, you don't just all of a sudden get good," said western christian head coach travis kooima. "it takes a bunch of

"as of right now, it's just a great feeling to get back there," said spirit lake senior logan backhaus. "we were just little freshman running up and down the sidelines four years ago when we won it. we're just looking to do the same thing those guys did. we really look up to them." "we just need to continue to focus on getting better," said spirit lake head coach josh bolluyt. "we have an opportunity to go 7-0 in the big ten, which would be significant and 7-0 in kinnick, which has only done once before. that's certainly important," said iowa head coach kirk ferentz.
