"i understand the sentiment behind it," said amy abraham. affecting 422 customers. there's no word on what caused the outage, or how long it might take to fix the problem. sac county sheriff's office released the names of three men injured in an explosion at the proliant plant in n tton, iowa last night. 34-year-old earl moore of ohio was inside a large storage tank to patch a seam when the explosion occurred. the other two victims were identified as 32-year old manuel ruiz of ohio was assisting 52- year old dana boom of lake view, iowa. they were in the room at the time of the explosion. moore and ruiz were transported to loring hospital in sac city, ia they were then taken to the university of nebraska of medical center in omaha. boom was transported to stewart memorial hospital in lake city where he was treated and released. "right now they're trying to focus on whwh caused the explosioioinside this tank. moore was actctlly inside this large storage tank, getting ready to weld when it exploded." investigators are still trying to determine the cause. the plant resumed production

authorities have made an arrest in a northwest iowa death. this afternoon, the calhoun county attorney announced the arrest of 48-year-old freddy crisp, of pomeroy, iowa, in the death of a north dakota man. crisp is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 41-year old dale e rrie potter. potter's body was found back on november 10th at a home in pomeroy. crisp is in the sac county jail, tonight. charges have been dropped against a man who was arrested in october for a sioux city shooting. 23-year-old mykale johnson was ininially chchged with aggravated domestic and carrying a weapon. those charges have been dropped. johnson was involved in the shooting incident at the 1400 block of isabella street in sioux city in october. authorities said 35 year- old nadia broady and johnson were engaged in a mutual domestst asasult, where a handgun was involved. during the struggle, the gun went off. johnson was shot in the hand, while an unnamed female was hit in the chest. broady has pleaded not guilty to possession of a firearm,

domestic abuse assault and reckless use of a firearm in an incident. a sioux city man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual abuse. investigators say 20-year- old alex anderson met up with the 13-year-old female victim at the icu waiting room at mercy medical center. he then kissed her several times and put his hand in hererhorts. authoritits charged anderson with 3rd-degree sexual abuse. officials at mercy medical center say their security staff was alerted about the situation, and they called sioux city police. a pretrial hearing is set for march 2016. a judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a woman charged f flowing an arson-n-lated fire. 28-year old cassie zoubek was set to stand trial on charges of witness tampering stemming from a felony second- degree arson conviction after zoubek was sentenced to 10 to 12 years in prison in july. zoubek pleaded guilty for her role in burning wn a mobile home, ininorfolk, in october 2014. on the witness tampering charge, zoubek is accused of asking a friend to lie about her whereabouts on the night the mobile home was set on fire.

today, a judge declared a mistrial after three of the jurors selected for the 12-person jury declared business and personal conflicts that could interfere with a potential trial. a new jury will be selected and a new trial date is expected to be set for december. united airlines appears to have support of the sioux gateway airport board of directors in its bid for federal funding to rve sioux city. in a letter to the department of transportatio n, airport board president darrel jesse acknowledges the enviable position they are in, quote "to be courted by two of the leading, world class airlines." united airlines, and american airlines, which currently serves sioux gateway, haha both made bids for federal funds to serve sioux city under the essential air service program. but, united's bid is nearly one-million dollars less than the bid american submitted. jesse says he understands that the dot traditionally accepts the lower bid for service to chicago's o'hare airport. united has the lower bid. jesse says the airport board would support united's lection. still to come.... deals and savings every 5

d's increased dramatically in 2014. 1-point-4 million cases of chlamydia were reported. the cdc says that's the highest "number of annual cases of any condition ever reported to the cdc." reports of gonorrhea and syphilis also increased in 2014. according to the report....there was a particularly "troubling" increase in syphilis infections among men. alarming new research finds about 15-percent of women are raped - while incapacitated from drugs or alcohol - during their first year of college. the study of 500 freshmen found those who had been rape victims before college were more likely to be assaulted again. and young women who said they believed alcohol enhances a sexual experience -- were also at a higher risk of incapacitated rape. more than 23-million americans who have used drugs in the past now qualify for a diagnosis of drug use disorder.

researchers from the national institute on alcohol abuse and alcoholism evaluated data from a survey that included interviews with a large group of adults. they found that nearly 10 percent of americans had a lifetime diagnosis of drug use disorder, or dud, due to prior drug use. drug use disorder relates to things such as an increased risk for suicidal behavior and a reduction in quality of life and infectious diseases such as hiv and hepatitis. experts say less than a quarter of those with the disorder get proper treatment. brad's here -- with college basketball highlights. the gpac opened their conference schedule tonight. ranked teams from briar cliff were in action against dakota wesleyan. and, spirit lake and western christian talk about friday's state championship games. sports fource is next.

wayne state loses to #7 minnesota-duluth 3-1.. the wildcats are 24-7 and have to wait and see about a big to the ncaa division ii tourney. northwest iowa could have as many as four state football champions by the end of the week. we heard from mmc and akron-westfield last night -- they play on thursday. western christian and spirit lake play in their title games on friday. the first game on friday has western christian taking on iowa city regina in class 1a at 11:00 a-m. it's the first championship game for the eight-ranked wolfpack. regina has won five straight state titles -- that's an iowa state record -- and have won 81 of their last 83 games. western christian just started playing varsity football in 2- thousand-4, so their program has come a long way. "we knew as a program, especially football, you don't just all of a sudden get good," said western christian head coach travis kooima. "it takes a bunch of small steps and that's what we did. we've taken a bunch of small steps over the past 12 years. again, a testament to our players, our coaches, for just buying in."
