the big christmas tree in downtown sioux city. they showcased their talents and education to create the light show before the big holiday lighted parade. good evening, thanks for joining us , i'm robert lowe. tonight the 20-15 holiday season kicked off in sioux city. the annual holiday lighted parade jingled its way down 4th street. ktiv's tommie clark was there for the festivities and has more.

there being in community events and showing our participation just helps with making the awareness more out there and everything," said founder of jeremy anderson motorcycle awarness organization, samantha wolfe. after anderson was killed in a hit and run accident two years ago-- his family stepped up. they promote safety for motorcycylists and drivers. and anderson'' daughter took part too. "i'm gonna be riding the float!," said jeremy anderson's daughter, brooklynn anderson. in sioux city, tommie clark, ktiv news 4. >> to wrap up the evening, parade-goers made their way to the howard johnson hotel. there they could tell santa their wish list and warm up with some hot chocolate and cookies. there was also a gift shop and free crafts for kids. "it is fun you just feel the energy. the kids are so excicid to see nta. we have a ball frosting these cookies and seeing the families and the kids are all dressed up in their christmas best attire. it's just such an energy, fun-filled event," said co-chair

the 27th annual event raises money for the children's miracle network and other philanthropies. the city of sioux center had a major incident happen yesterday morning and today they're recovering. sioux center city officialalsaid one of their two substatitis blew out-- causing significant damage and leaving half the town without power. there was also a water main break-- the break has been fully repaired and residents are no longer needing to conserve water. with the help of neighboring communities, the city worked through the night to repair r e electrical system. there are now very few residents who are still without power. and, the red cross left this morning. good news for holiday travelers... gas prices are beginning to drop again according to the lundberg survey. two weeks ago... gas prices went up for the first time in 19 weeks... increasing b ba penny. but the average rereil price has gone down 11-cents over the past two weeks... to two- dollars and 14-cents per gallon. the downward pressure on prices

it's been another tumultous season for the iowa state football team - and today, the school announced a major change in the direction of the cyclones progogm. we're going to get rght to it, for more on this developing situation, we bring in ktiv's mark freund. mark, break it down for us sometimes the only cure for losing - is to make a change. iowa state athletic director jamie pollard, deciding that the time for that change was now - announcing today that paul rhoads has been fired. iowa state made a bowl game in each of rhoads' first three years, including an insight bowl win over minnesota in 2009. but the cyclones have just 8 wins in the last three seasons, with only four big 12 wins in that time. in 2014, i-s-u wenenwinless in big 12 play. rhoads is a fan favorite - and as far as the fans go - there's mixed reaction. "it was just one of those things where everything piles up, and then you reach a point where it's not acceptable, i guess, to keep

conducted a counter- terror drill in the subway system this morning. new york city police chief joseph fox tweeted it was their "most comprehensive active- shooter drill yet." on meet the press this morning... city police commissioner william bratton said the exercise incorporated lessons learned from recent terror attacks in paris. "...this is part of a continuing series of exercises. this was planned before the paris events, but it has certain paris elements involved in it, including a scenario with an individual with a suicide vest." the n-y-p-d posted about the drill on their facebook page... where many people commented to say thank you for efforts to keep n-y-c safe. back here in siouxland, sioux city police have arrested a man in friday's alledged armed robbery at k& n automotive. authorities say the suspect is 23 year-old regan maryland from houston, who's temporarily living and working in sioux city. maryland has been charged with first-degree robbery.

coaching carousel this offseason - paul rhoads is out as head coach after seven seasons in ames. the announcement coming from the school today, after the cyclones blew double-digit leads in back-to back games, including saturday's 38- 35 loss to kansas state. rhoads led iowa state to a 7-6 record and a bowl win over minnesota in his first
