two reports found the officer's shooting was justified... and the prosecutor declined to charge the officer with any crime. yesterday rice's family thanked activists for their continued support for justice and asked the crowd to quote "pick a side in the debate" over police violence. a southwest flight was diverted to kansas city after several passengers were said to have acted suspiciously. the plane was heading from indianapolis to los angeles when airline officials say multiple passengers quote "did not follow crew instructions and continued to act suspiciously during the flight." police say at least four people were escorted from the back of the plane. the remaining passengers were unloaded while police officers and d 9s searched the plane and luggage. one person re-boarded the original flight, but the other three were re- booked to a later flight after being questioned by law enforcement. one virginia boy fighting cancer has found love at a young age. we'll share his story with you, coming up. and i'll have your complete

there was a big shake-up in the world of college football yesterday. iowa state fired head football coach paul rhoads. details are coming up in the sports fource morning wrap. if you work hard, and you do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead. but the republicans... they want to go back to letting the super wealthy call the shots. they don't stand up for equal pay for women. they don't support paid family leave. they don't even really support refinancing student debt. we've got to get this s onomy working for the vast majority of americans, not just for those at the top. that's what i intend to do as president.

all we know right now - rhoads - fired after seven seasons. rhoads led iowa state to a 7-6 record and a bowl win over minnesota in his first season, back in 2009. but six consecutive losing seasons followed, including just 8 wins over the last three years. rhoads is 32-54 at iowa state - but will have a chance to win one more game - he will be on the sidelines for the cyclones' season finale at west virginia. iowa state says the players were notified of the firing at a meeting today. rhoads will be owed upward of 4- point-5 million dollars by iowa state, per the terms of his contract. i-s-u athletic director jamie pollard and rhoads will meet with the media during the cyclones' normally-scheduled availability on monday. while iowa state mourns - iowa celebrates. the hawkeyes moved to 11-and-0 with their 40-20 win over purdue on saturday. and for the first time in program history - iowa clinched the big ten west division title, and a spot in the big ten championship game. it was a 20-point win that felt a lot closer - the hawks didn't pull away from the boilermakers until the fourth quarter. iowa certainly didn't dominate - but they did win. the division is wrapped up, but an undefeated regular season is not - the hawkeyes are now preparing for rival nebraska in the heroes game on black friday. but iowa can still celebrate their first division title. "it's an amazing feeling, you can't describe it," said senior running back jordan canzeri. "i am just so grateful to be on a team like this." it's designed to track stolen vehicles, hold parking violators accountable, and keep criminals off the streets. but do automated license plate readers invade your privacy? macleod hageman rode along with a des moines police officer who uses the technology every day -- and explains how you might be affected.

his automatic license plate reader -- (nats ... of aclr) -- gives him an extra set of eyes on the road. "it'll alert you with a beep. it'll flash on this screen if you're in another program. send you a quick picture of the plate and a description. so you know what to look for." officer harden says the four-mounted cameras on his cruiser alert him -- (nats... of aclr) of all violators. "it's not always stolen cars. sometimes it's scofflaw violators, as we call them, which are habitual parkers and things like that." "rain or shine, day or night, whether a car is moving or stopped, the license plate readers are always recording information. that's why parking lots are popular spots for patrolling officers." "i'll go to several apartment complexes where we found stolen cars before and just go through there and read all those cars sitting through there. not all the time obviously, but a lot of the time we'll see one sitting there. sometimes it's just out in the middle of nowhere, but sometimes it's just out in plain site in a parking lot with a lot of other cars." but as anyone who deals with technology knows -- computers are not perfect. "sometimes it'll read a plate out of iowa, and it'll say it's stolen out of a different state." the technology has been part of the des moines police department for nearly three years,

two years in sioux city, it's coming to cedar rapids in the coming months, dubuque police say they're looking into it, and waterloo police say it's not cost effective at this point. des moines police sergeant paul parizek says their two cruisers -- equipped with the nearly 30- thousand dollar technology -- has recognized nearly 75- hundred offenders since 20-12 -- ranging from parking violators to even sex offenders -- and helped recover at least 30 stolen vehicles. "it's been incredibly useful for us in terms of being able to maximize our time on the streets. the technology can do what we can do about 100 times faster." but critics say it's an ivasion of privacy -- recording your every movement. "finding the balance between the public's right to know and your right privacy has been an issue." the american civil liberties union even filing lawsuits in four states... here in iowa -- a-c-l-u legislative director dane schuman says innoncent people might be concerned information could fall into the wrong hands. "the main concern the aclu has with automated license plate readers, is what's done with the information after it's accumulated by law enforcement."

license plate reader is governed by iowa law -- invasion is minimal -- and information is erased after six months. "the problem that can arise is that the information is stored, archived and used to track movement of innoncent individuals who haven't done anything wrong over time." regardless of privacy concerns -- des moines police believe the benefits outweigh the treats -- recalling this incident (nats... on-air of virginia report) where a virginia reporter and photographer were killed -- and police found this man moments -- through the use of this technology. "i can fix just about anything," said ruthie warren. and that statement is pretty spot on. her garage isn't for a car, it's her toolshop. where she builds and tinkers with things a lot. saying she never throws anything away, finding a use for most items. "either a walnut bowl where you put a pole in the middle," said ruthie warren. her daughter says she's even rebuilt six houses. "made stairs on the outisde, stuccoed, plastered," said rebecca warren. at her age, warren relies on her faith to help finish the job if she needs it. "i sleep on it and god helps me in daytime," said ruthie warren. but she makes sure others have what they need to. once dug out, she plans to get two thanksgiving turkeys and two pies. one for her family, the other "for a neighbor of my daughters," said ruthie warren. warren will turn 81 next month. she says her father lived to be more than a hundred years old and she says that's something she'll do too. digging out might not be as fun, but with fresh snow on the ground, many kids had a lot of fun over the weekend. "oh my gosh," said a sledder. "watch out," screamed the sledder. sertoma park in sioux city was packed with sledders and a few snowboarder s. many coming out to enjoy the snow before it melts. sertoma park is one of two public places in sioux city to legally sled, the other is grandview park. atmosphere and it was tough to find a kid who didn't enjoy it. "pretty fun but once you wipe out on a snowboard it kind of hurts," said tristan monk. the snow just hit ya, ya know," said dominic eastman
