(witness): "the cop was like get out of here there's a shooter and they got their guns out and they kneeled down." witnesses reported hearing a barrage of bullets. (voice of: vince/ witness): "a cracked over my head and hit the stop sign on my left side. by the time i got to my truck and waited there i heard about 20." around 11-30 a-m -- police got the call of an active shooter. hours later -- officers and the gunman were still involved in a shootout inside a planned parenthood facility. (scanner): "he's walking down the hallway. guns at his waist." during the firefight -- some scared witnesses inside the building -- were able to call loved ones. (no name provided): "as she was inside she called me and she was telling me that there was a shooting, i heard the shooting and she couldn't say too much because she was afraid that those guys... you know..." police evacuated people trapped for hours inside the building. as officers continued to exchange gunfire with the shooter. (lt. catherine buckley/color ado springs police): "we did get officers inside of the building at the planned parenthood. and the officers were able to shout

to the suspect and make communicatio n with him. and at that point, they were able to get him to surrender." more than five hours after the shooting started -- police took the suspect into custody. still looking for a missing teenager. fourteen-year-old chayton faulkner from oakdale was last seen on wednesday afternoon at school. he's an 8th grader at neligh-oakdale public school. if you know where he can be found please contact the antelope county sheriff's department. investigators trying to figure out what started a house fire in norfolk, nebraska early this morning. the home was destroyed. when fire crews arrested flames and heavy smoke could be seen from the second story of the house. it took about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. . a fire interrupted early holiday

target in the des moines area. this is video sent by someone who was shopping as the alarms went off. west des moines fire department says the fire was near a fryer. they say the building was evacuated around 8:30 last night. no injuries were reported and the damage was minimal. a peaceful black friday protest on michigan avenue in chicago today. hundreds responing to the recently released dash cam video showing the deadly shooting of laquan mcdonald by a police officer. protesters chanted "16 shots". that's the number of times laquan mcdonald was shot. laquan mcdonald was shot and killed by chicago police officer jason van dyke. van dyke was charged with first degree murder in the case, in october of 2014. the stores opened yesterday to buy ticket items before they sold out. but several sioux city stores continued to have people coming through the doors today as well. "this is actually a lot more fun," tracy eekhof, a sioux center, iowa resident. "i was a little nervous about the crowds, but really, we've been able to find parking spots pretty close and the stores have been very organized." tomorrow is small business saturday. and, a new local store opened it's door last weekend. "mode" is a women's clothing store owned by tammy bertrand of sioux city. and with small business saturday coming up she emphasized how important it is to have stores like "mode." "it's really important that we support our small businesses because there's so many unique ones in sioux city and when people come to our town they're very impressed," said mode owner, tammy bertrand. you can find mode at lake port commons right next to justice. tv's were turned up today as iowa and nebraska fans cheered on their teams. ktiv's tommie clark with reaction from today's big matchup.

"go hawks!" that's what you could hear loud and clear after the big nebraska vs. iowa game. husker fans had high hopes for that win. "it's all good as long as nebraska wins. they could lose any game this year as long as they beat iowa it's ok," said nebraska fan, brandy wurth. but in the end, iowa ran out the clock and snagged the victory. "we overcame our mistakes and we just won the game it was great," said iowa fan, rob mcbride." ran the ball well, defense stood up," said iowa fan, jaxson millsap. "defense came up huge when we needed it to," said mcbride. "w is a w, win's a win," said iowa fan, reese millsap. "it wasn't pretty, but a w is a w exactly," said mcbride. were still busy buying gifts online. a digital tracking group says sales online are up 22 percent from last year. target's ceo says online sales are off to a very strong start. target, wal-mart, kohls and more launched all their black friday deals online a day early. the official white house christmas tree has arrived! first lady michelle obama, along with the first family's dogs - bo and sunny - received the 18-and-a-half foot frasier fir today. the tree was grown in pennsylvania. the tree, which is 11 feet wide, was cut down monday and will be on display in the blue room. this is the 50th tree to see white house duty. iowa's secretary of agriculture is encouraging iowan's to buy a fresh tree grown in the state this holiday season. there are more than 100 christmas tree farms in iowa. farmers harvest about 40,000 christmas trees each year, resulting in a million dollar industry. it takes 6 to 12 years to grow a christmas tree before it is ready to be sold. most tree farms in iowa
