(matt) so far, the storm has brought half-a-foot of snow to sioux city. the past few hours have seen light snowbut the ow has picked up in intensity in the last few minutes. (sheila) ktiv's robert lowe is with live link 4 along i-29 with a look at the travel conditions, right now. robert? matt and sheila, as the snow begins to slow down, it's really a blessing for those on the move. here on i-29, snow isn't the issue right now. take a look at the streets, the main problem is they are very slick. so, authorties say you should continue to drive slowly road crews are working diligently to clear the area. tonight, 50 pieces of equipment are helping clear the streets of sioux city around the clock.

there have been numerous traffic accidents. here's the aftermath of one that one of the iowa d-o-t cameras caught this mornin this is interstate 29 northbound looking north at the highway 20 bypass. it appeared to involve a semi and another vehicle. there were apparently no injuries in this one. woodbury county deputies say they have only had a few cars in the ditch. nothing like they saw a week ago friday. they say more people weren't traveling this morning. (matt) here's a picture sent to us by newspotter jimy mac lenz of a pickup truck that rolled over about five miles south of milford, iowa on highway 71. it happened about eight 'o clock this morning. he says the two occupants escaped injury, but he saw a few other accidents, as well. also south of milford, the aftermath of a crash involving two vehicles. this picture comes from milford fire and rescue which reports that all occupants were ok, no injuries. if you must drive somewhere, check the road conditions before you go. you'll find a link at our website, ktiv-dot-com. under the

"road reports." from there you can click on nebraska, or south dakota. two people are dead following an early-morning crash near yankton, south dakota. it happened on south dakota highway 50, east of yankton, at about 5:30am. invesigators say a car was travelling west on highway 50 on the wrong side of the road. in that area, traffic travelling in opposite directions is divided by a median. that car collided head-on with a east. the impact caused the first car to burst into flames. e drivers of both cars died. their names haven't been released. two other cars, which came upon the crash site after the initial impact, also hit the cars involved. they weren't hurt. (matt) it's the second big snow of the season. and those flurries just keep coming down. (sheila) ktiv's tommie clark met up with one driver who takes on the snow-filled streets all day. tommie? matt and sheila, i rode along with a sioux city bus driver. he told me how many inches of

before, but nothing really ever prepares her for it. "it's really impacted my day from walking through the parking lot to walking down the hill to wait for the bus and then the bus not being on schedule," said bus rider, diana o'connor. other passengers say it's just part of living in siouxland. "getting from point a to b it's ok," said bus rider, jennifer goodier. "if you're gonna drive out in it be careful, take your time because it's pretty slick out there," said bus rider, philip trudau. "i don't like the weather, but it's part of winter," said bus rider, cindy winey. >> with the snow impacting so many people today, stewart says to always keep safety in mind. he says drivers often think since buses are so big they get more traction, but they really don't, so drivers need to slow down around them. matt and sheila? thanks tommie.

a mix of freezing raininnd snow developed early this morning coating the streets of norfolk, nebraska with a thin layer of ice below the snow. road conditions remained slippery and cautioned drivers to take it extra slow. the nebraska state patrol said that not many accidents have occurred. the accidents that have been reported are very minor. because of school being canceled, many siouxland kids decided to spend their time in the snow. dakota, trtre and halleigh created two big snowmen today. they say it only took them about 20 minutes. they love making snow forts, snow angels and of course snowmen-- but they've never made one this big. when asked what their favorite part of winter is they had some good answers. "not being at school and that i get to play with my friends. the snow and having fun with my friends and family," said dakota mckinley and halleigh leiber. the kids say they can't wait to build more snowmen. (matt) and while the conditions outside aren't the best for driving, today's sledding conditions were perfect. this was the scene at grandview park in sioux city, this afternoon. sioux city sledders s re out in full force, bundled up and enjoying the fresh snow.
