superintendent, wayne kindle. now identified as 18-year-old joseph vanbuskirk and 19-year-old adam gerard. the university of south dakota students first said they were at yankton high school to kill time before an exam, but later changed their story, saying they knew someone at the school-- but couldn't come up with a name. after being asked to leave, police were contacted and because of the suspicious behavior, authorities pulled the two teenagers over. that's when yankton police found... "22 rifle and a shotgun in the trunk," said yankton chief of police, brian paulsen. but that wasn't all... inside the trunk, police also located 200 rounds for the rifle. vanbuskirk and gerard were immediately taken into custody. yankton police chief brian paulsen says the threat was immediately identified and there was no danger to the students. due to thursday's incident... "kindle says the school district is taking measures to make sure this situation doesn't happen again." "we want the message out there

and all school buildings are a safe environment for these kids to learn that's what we want ultimately as well as our community and we want folks if there's any inkling of playing a prank it will be delt with swiftly and severely," said yankton chief of police, brian paulsen since thursday, the school district has held multiple staff meetings, stationed police in all school buildings and sent out an email to parents. >> kindle says there is no question that they will be doing something with the front doors, most likely locking them for now on. both vanbuskirk and gerard were charged with trespassing, disruption of school, and possession of firearms on school property. they were released this morning pending an arraignment. so, wha exactly are police further investigating? in the security camera footage at the school, the two appear to be texting and possibly taking pictures or videos while wandering through the halls. yankton police will look into this further. robert? we'll keep a close eye as well, thanks tommie! the university of south dakota

response to today's arrests. the school said they take the issue of school security very seriously. the statement went on to say quote... "when usd learned that two of our students had been arrested on misdemeanor charges in yankton, we responded immediately and cooperated fully with investigators. searches of the students' residence hall rooms yielded no weapons or any other policy violations. both students remain enrolled, though usd will await results of the investigation before making a final determination." hillary clinton addressed the issue of gun control at a campaign stop, in sioux city, today. we'll have a wrap-up of that event in just a moment. after her speech-- in her first sit-down interview since the california shootings-- she talked about terrorism, and gun rights, with ktiv's matt breen.

"what do you say to gun rights advocates who charge that you simply want to take their guns away?" asked breen. "they are mistaken," clinton said. "i have no interest in taking guns away from any responsible gun owner." clinton says the majority of those gun owners support the reforms she's mentioned. "they don't like to see us losing 90 people a day to homicides, suicides, tragic avoidable accidents," clinton said. "but, we've got to get gun owners working with the vast majority of americans, more than 92 percent of us, who want to begin to get those guns away from and out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them." that way, clinton says, guns don't fall into the wrong hands. weather ad-lib a south wind kicked in today and helped conditions warm very nicely across siouxland with most highs in the 30s and 40s allowing the melting process to really get flowing. temperatures over the next couple of day will be similar to today but with a lot more clouds on saturday. from those clouds, a couple light showers may try to form from saturday evening into early saturday night. saturday is a day that iowa hawkeye fans have been waiting for, for a long time. sports director brad pautsch is here with more. even the biggest hawkeye fan like ron -- did not expect a perfect season. but iowa is 12 and 0 -- and will play for the big ten title on saturday night against michigan state. mark woodley, from our sister station

city. and over that span, historic 4th street was where the annual charity motorcycle rally was held. today it was announced that location was changing. awesome biker nights board of directors said it'll be moving six blocks away over to the hard rock and pearl street distict. event organizers say the move was a hard decision. they haven't ruled out any events along historic 4th street but none are planned for

the hard rock will provide the main concert stage. organizers say pairing with them just made sense. officials say a new four- turbine wind farm in platte county could be operational by mid- december. representatives from columbus, the loup public power district and bluestem energy solutions gathered for a ribbon cutting at creston ridge wind farm. the four turbines are assembled and were scheduled to be tested today. brad's here -- it's the first full night of high school basketball. some teams, like kingsley- pierson, already have big expecations. ktiv's mark freund is live with more k-p has almost everyone back from last year's 22 and 2 team. we'll hear from the panthers in two minutes. and, the hawkeyes and spartans have arrived in indianapolis for the big ten championship game. we'll hear from the coaches,
