"harry potter" author j-k rowling is the latest to condemn donald trump for his call to ban muslims from entering the u-s. in a tweet, rowling said "voldemort" was nowhere near as bad as the republican presidential frontrunner. voldemort is the lead villain in the series of "harry potter" books. rowling's fans are praising the author's remarks. gun sales in this country are spiking, in the aftermath of the san bernardino terror attack. in fact, stock in smith and wesson has soared to its highest level in eight years. people's concerns about their safety, and fears of potential new gun laws, are often cited as driving factors. on sunday, president obama asked congress to make it harder for people on the government's "no-fly" list to buy guns. he also said it should be harder for all americans to buy assault apons. oscar pistorius will remain under house arrest pending his sentencing for his murder conviction, after a south

the olympic athlete today. last week, south africa's supreme court of appeal convicted pistorius of murdering girlfriend reeva steenkamp in 2013, overturning a lower court's conviction of the lesser crime of manslaughter. the appeals court then said the double- amputee olympian should be sentenced by the lower court. the judge granted pistorius bail and extended his house arrest until his sentencing hearing, which is set for april 18th. > weathehead-lib after a mild monday,we'll see very similar temperatures today with a bit more cloud cover overhead which could squeeze out a few sprinkles if not an isolated shower. highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s will be the new norm this week with a good mixture of cloudsdsnd

winds expected on thursday. temperatures will cool back down to the upper 30s and lower 40s over the weekend with cloudier skies. modelssre still in sooe disagreement, but a couple snow showers do appear tt be possible saturday night and sunday, so we'll see how those chces play out in the coming days. see graphics. >> sioux city police are investigating ananrmed robbery that happend earlyly yesterday morning. jodi blackwell and her children were at their home on the 26-hundred block of south alice street. police say two men entered their home around three a.m. and asked for drugs and money. police say the woman said she was held at gunpoint and her son was beaten with a crowbar. they told police they believe the men had thth wrong house. ththsuspects stole multitie gaming systems, a tv and a cellphone from the home. police are looking for several suspects as they continue their investigation. they will hold a news conference this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

webstite, just go to ktiv dot com. a fire forced residents from their homes at a a morningside apapament complex last night. firefighters responded to the call at 22-01 gibson street just before 10 o'clock. when crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the three story building. officials say food left unattended on the stove in a third floor apartment sparked the fire, which then spread to the attic. smoke and flames damaged 2 units and forced abobobo0 people from their homes. the sioux city pool committee has decided to move forward with recommendations that would close two pools after the next swimming season, and close two others in the future. the committee first made those recommendati ons, last week. those included closing leeds and cook pools after the 2016 season, and replacing both f filities with a splash pad. riverside would stay the same. lewis pool would close after a new aquatic center is built in morningside. leif erikson would remain open until the pool is no

replaced with a splash pad. the sioux city city council approved an "enhancement study" for the tyson events center. the consultants will look at improving concession stands, increasing premium level seating and possibly widening a number of concourse areas. officials hope the outcome will result in better ticket sales as thetyson competes with neighboring for acts and events. the study will cost no more than $68-thousand dollars. if you live in sioux city, you may see your trash rates increase at the the start of the new year. yesterday, the city council voted to increase the rates. currently, residents pay $15.44 a month. but, if approved at a meeting in early january, there will be an 86-cent hike. so, you'll end up paying $16.30 a month for trash collection. that adds up to about 10- dollars more you'll pay next year. that rate will stay the same for at least three years. south dakota governor dennis daugaard is outlining his key priorities for the 2016 legislative

devastating flooding is causing numerous problems in western norway. take a look at this. that's a house being taken away by the flooding.g. the flooding was caused by a severe storm over the weekend. many people were forced to evacuate their homes, while a major roadway connecting western and southern norway was shut down. meteorologists are calling this a "200-year flood". you might say it's raining cats and dogs in portland, oregon. take the example of this swimming kitty! she didn't like being carried across a flooded street. apparently she decided the best way to get across -- was to swim. the cat's owner safely recovered the would-be "cat-fish". the portland area has received several inches of rain since

energy stocks are falling again as the price of oil continues to slide. most of the biggest decliners in early trading today were oil and gas companies. the u-s-p-s is testing a new notification service called "informed delivery". the postal service will send out an e-mail to customers each morning with images of envelopes of their letter size mail.

(mos) air pollution is a problem for everyone. and now, we're being deprived of our right to breathe fresh air. his art project went viral, perhaps not surprising in a city where 21 million residents have to deal with pollution every day.
