i'm matt breen. sheila has the night off. following what administrators call a "non- specific threat", sheldon high school, in sheldon, iowa, will have additional security in place on monday. kiwa radio, in sheldon, reports superintenden t robin spears says high school students won't be allowed to bring backpacks to school, monday. and, there will be a police presence in the school that day.

confident the threat is a hoax, they say they take the responsibility of keeping their students safe very seriously. the argosy casino sailed away from sioux city over a year ago, but the floating casino's legal battles continue. the iowa supreme court has referred an appeal, by the argosy's owner penn national gaming, to the iowa court of appeals. that appeal centers on the iowa racing and gaming commission's rejection of penn's request to extend the riverboat's gaming license. instead, the i-r-g-c awarded that license to the hard rock hotel and casino, and its non-profit partner missouri river historical development. tuesday, iowa's high court referred the case to the iowa court of appeals. penn national has taken its case to the iowa supreme court twice now. the first appeal was denied, but the second is ongoing. "they're challenging two decisions entered by the distrcit court in polk county affirming the decisions of the racing gaming commission to

with a robbery and assault that terrorized a sioux city woman and her two sons in their own home early monday morning. austin cummings of sioux city is charged with robbery, going armed with intent, assault while participating in a felony and theft in the 2nd degree. police say cummings was one of two men who entered jodi blackwell's home at 26-27 south alice street, early monday morning. anyone with information on the second suspect is urged to call crimestopper s at 258-tips. an fbi dive team was back searching a small lake near the site of last week's shooting massacre in san bernardino looking for evidence. sources tell nbc news they're looking for a computer hard drive or other digital evidence that may have been dumped there by suspects syed farook and tashfeen malik.

digital evidence that shows the two were in the final planning stage of another assault. several victims of an ex-oklahoma city police officer are speaking out after he was convicted of 18 charges including first-degree rape. daniel holtzclaw was found guilty yesterday on allegations that he used his police beat to prey on black women. jurors heard from 13 women, but convicted holtzclaw on charges related to only eight. s/ grace franklin/co- founder, okc artists for justice :15 "we are pleased with the 18 counts that we received. we are not pleased with the 18 that we didn't. there were 5 women who did not receive justice. that is a problem." holtzclaw could face more than 200 years in prison when he is sentenced in january. still to come.... our sportsfource extra crew is bringing you highlights from

tonight. it's a fun way for students to get excited, and learn how to program computers. known as "light up the night", the display on the front of the school has more than 81-thousand lights. lights are synced to music to get people into the holiday sprit. 174 students helped program the display. the idea started last year as a high-tech way to teach kids to code. "it's just something that none of us have ever done before, working with a program and getting this display out of it," said emily vo an 8th grade student at west middle school the light show will run tomorrow night, from 6 to 8pm, and from 6 to 8 next friday and saturday night. well, that's it for news and weather... but our sportsfource extra crew is just getting started. they're bringing you highlights from over a dozen siouxland basketball games. stay right

southeast pulls away in the final three quarters to win it, 48-37. over to battle creek - the bravettes hosting madison. battle creek up 9 in the third quarter - they get it out to katelynn weinandt - a rainbow three - drills it - the bravettes open up a double-digit lead. and they would roll from there - inside to maddie kuchar - the senior puts it off the window for two. battle creek - doing a nice job feeding the ball inside - good entry passes - taylor wiemers with the bucket and the foul - bravettes out front, 33-14. then on the inbound pass - it's wiemers again - easy - battle creek - no problem in the second half - winning 49-20. the emerson-hubbard girls -- ranked third by the omaha world herald -- hosting laurel-concord, coleridge.. late 1st quarter, ashley bokemper makes a nice move past the defender and makes the layup to put the pirates up by 20. later on, a bears turnover leads to a bokemper pass to abby drieling for the easy layup, and

back to nebraska -- the 2 and 0 wakefield boys hosting winless wausa. vikings off to a good start early as ryan kumm gets the pass inside, and he gets the bucket and one to give wausa a two point lead. wakefield strikes back though, isaac camarena makes a nice basket cut, gets the pass, and hits the layup to put the trojans up two. hand, camarena kicks it out to jose sanchez who drills the three pointer, and wakefield continues to pull and makes the tough, off-balance shot, and the trojans take a seven point lead. wakefield continues to build that lead, and they beat wausa, 67 to 42. the musketeers -- trying to end a 3- game skid against
