band director who resigned abruptly last week has been arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. sioux city police say 34- year old lucas sursely was arrested today and charged with the class d felony. police say last friday, they possible inappropriate texting by a north high school teacher to a north high student. sursely turned in his police say their investigation culminated in sursely's arrest this morning. new details are being released following a threat made friday against sheldon high school. the threat was written on a bathroom wall of the school, but officials have not revealed what the threat said. according to the o'brien county attorney, a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody on saturday. the county attorney confirmed he was a student of the high school. the boy taken into detention. a hearinis set to determine whether he should be held in detention or released. the county attorney says that hearing will take place sometime before christmas.

where the state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the 14-year-old made the threats alleged against him. the madison county, nebraska attorney is deciding whethth four teenagers arrested in connection with a threat at newman grove high school will be charged as adults. the threat, posted on facebook, prompted a lockdown and evacuation of the school wednesday. ktiv/us92's mike flood has details from newman grove.

they immediately made their way to newman grove, surrounded the school and began investigating exactly what happened. a short time after their arrival, they took four students into custody, all juveniles, and transported them to the juvenile detention center in madison, which is about 15 miles away. as for the rest of the day, they spent a little time after that sweeping the school just to see if anything was left behind or if anybody else was involved, and by 2:30, it was business as usual. "we are very lucky to have officers in and around our community to help us deal with these types of situations," said newman grove superintendent, mikel shalikow. now parents were alerted that the school had been placed on lockdown. school officials say they'd like to call everybody and let them know exactly what happened, but things are moving so quickly. the good news is, at the end of the day, all of the kids, the parents, the teachers went home safely. four students remain in custody. >> the madison county attorney will

teens face and whether they will be tried as juvenile or adults. two central indiana school districts have canceled classes today after officials said threats were made against their schools. school officials in danville classes following alleged threats from two students who've been arrested. schools in plainfield also canceled classes, citing a threat that was "directed to the high school." > weather ad-lib with highs near 30, but with the wind it will feel more like the teens and 20s. i'm also fairly confident that we'll see at least a few peeks of sun today, but not to worry, we'll have plenty of opportunity to see some tomorrow and over the weekend. now, it will still be cold tomorrow with similar temperatures to today's, but temperatures closer to 40 will arrive this weekend and stick around next week with overall dry weather.

nobody was injured in a fire that damaged an apartment building in yankton, south dakota. it happened wednesday afternoon. deputy fire chief larry nickles says the blaze started in a laundry area. he estimated the damage at about 45-thousand dollars. the apartments were evacuated. the red cross is helping one family that was displaced by the fire. a southern iowa man has died after becoming trapped in a grain bin. it happened wednesday in the town of murray. 39-year-old eric reasland of creston was removed from the bin about three hours after he became trapped. he was taken to a hospital where he died. the clarke county sheriff says reasland and the owner of the farm were working to get corn out of the bin. the corn was crusted together at

was working to break it up when was buried in the grain. officials in western oklahoma say a man targeting motorists randomly from his pickup truck fired on at least four vehicles along a stretch of interstate 40, killing a man traveling with his wife and also killing a woman more than ten miles away. they say at least two other cars were struck by gunfire. the suspect then surrendered without further incident. authorities call it road rage and say the shootings were stretched out over three counties. the man who bought the assault rifles that were used in the san bernardino massacre is expected to be charged as early as today. that word comes from two law enforcement officials. they say the exact federal charges against enrique marquez aren't immediately clear. authorities say marquez legally purchased the high-powered guns used by syed farook and his wife to kill 14 people at a holiday gathering of farook's health department co-workers on december 2nd. the couple died in a shootout

there are more questions than answers after a judge declared a mistrial in the case against a baltimore police officer in the death of freddie gray. will officer william porter be put on trial a second time? this morning, lawyers on both sides met in the judge's chambers to discuss a possible retrial. they said nothing as they left. cnn's jean casa-rez has more on the aftermath of the jury's deadlock.

standstill last spring. baltimore erupted in days of unrest back in april -- after gray was loaded into the back of a police van and later died from a spinal cord injury. prosecutors argued that even though porter did not make the arrest or drive the van, he failed to secure gray's seat belt and call a medic quickly enough. he faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment. baltimore prosecutor marilyn mosby's decision to try the officers was met with sharp criticism ---some saying the charges were too strong and hard to prove. frustration outside the courthouse for what this could mean for the other officers involved ... ristmas! end music >> here's a live look at west lake okoboji from our okoboji skycam... a christmas display that gets a lot of accolades every year is up in le mars, iowa. mark and shari frerichs put up the extravagant and very bright display of lights and inflatable characters every year at their home on highway three. mark says it takes about six weeks to set it all up. so, how many lights are there?

"we tried counting but we can't keep track of it. it's just unreal." they've been doing this for more than 20 years and they change it up a bit each year to keep it fresh. mark says keeping it lit is an ongoing process because he's constantly having to replace bulbs. for jacque goettsch of sioux city, christmas displays are not about lights, but rather, nutcrackers. ktiv's sam curtiss shows us.

"christmas is my hobby," said jacque goettsch. goettsch says it takes her about a week and a half to set up the decorations. "each one i have to dust off and look at and remember who gave it to me," said jacque goettsch. "there's a lot of memories down here for me." but goettsch's collection isn't quite complete. the retired nurse needs just one more to be satisfied. "i do not have a nurse nutcracker," said jacque goettsch. come the first week of january her prized set will be still be on display. only inside boxes stacked in the garage.
