"we're a transitional housing program of the community action agency. we help women and children, ages six and under, transition into their own homes and in doing that we provide them with the services they need to get them to that point," says alice mollet with the crossroads women's shelter. there's only one place in siouxland you can find these one-of-a-kind holiday sweaters to support the shelter.

stocks are falling again today as investors continue to worry about global economic growth a battle over razors could be heard in federal court. razor giant gillette is suing upstart rival dollar shave club for patent violations. gillette claims coatings on dollar shave club's blades violate one of its patents. gillette says those coatings keep the blades sharp. the lawsuit asks the court to block all sales of dollar shave club

razors. dollar shave club sends razors to customers who purchase subscriptions. the lawsuit says dollar shave club currently has about two million members. dollar shave club has not commented on gillette's lawsuit. several dozen siouxlanders got a lunchtime lesson in sioux city's manufacturin g history on thursday. at the public library's monthly "history at high noon" presentation, the topic was sioux city's role as the leading manufacturing center in iowa from the late 1880s to the 1960s. historians say there were more manufacturers in sioux city in 1890. that number doubled by the 1920s. "it's my goal to help people not only remember some of these things, because many of these manufacturies have been around in living memory, but also to remind people of our past," said tom munson, archival clerk for the sioux city public museum. the "history at high noon" series is a monthly program where people can bring their

weren't waiting for the official premiere. several hundred of them caught the early showings, which started last night at seven. these folks of all ages have waited long enough for the new star wars installment. they wanted to see "the force awakens" as soon as they could. "the battles, the lightsaber battles and he likes the laser battles," said 11-year-old xander deleperdang. "first movie there was not that much computer graphics," said david satory, a sioux city resident. "second set had a lot of computer graphics. this one's supposed to be a mix of both so i'm happy both ways." and of course, many fans came in costume to make the night all the more fun "princess leia because she's the girl," said cathy robinson, a marcus, iowa resident. "she's the pretty princess. so that's why." "i've got the mandalorian mask going on," said patrick davidson, a sioux city resident. "it shows how much of a mandalorian -how revan took on the mandalorian army on by himself." and to celebrate the premiere, the promenade offered special star wars popcorn bins and soda cups.

an equally impressive crowd showed up at carmike cinemas for the early screenings. after watching "the force awakens", one fan told us it was worth the wait and lives up to the hype. "it opens up a whole new chapter for what they're going to come out with next," said charles watkins.
