a georgia man, who's charged in the armed robbery of a north sioux city, south dakota. convenience store, says he's not guilty of the crime. the robbery happened back on december 1st at the casey's general store on river drive. 25-year-old mykel booth from atlanta was arrested in sioux falls. he faces several charges including first degree robbery, assault and grand theft. investigators say he threatened people inside of the casey's with a gun before taking off with cash. police in sioux city, and south sioux city, are searching for the suspect that led them on a high- speed chase, this morning. police say the chase started on hiway 77 in dakota county. the s-u-v did not stop for deputies and exited on i-29 the vehicle continued onto dakota avenue at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. the chase led into iowa. the chase ended near the intersection of perry street and west 2nd street off of wesley parkway. the suspect fled the scene on foot. police didn't find the suspect and currently do not have a description. no injuries were reported after a fire destroyed a trailer home in the emmerson bay area of west lake okoboji.

called to 1982 200th street monday afternoon. officials say the trailer home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. the cause of the fire has not been determined, but it's believed the fire started on the north end of the trailer. new information regarding a vehicle firirin nortrtast nebraska monday y at authorities deemed "suspicious." the nebraska state patrol says today there were two bodies found in the burned out pickup truck in a field west of pierce and it appears to be a case of murder-suicide. prelimininary identification has been made on the remains and autopsies have been scheduled. the names of the deceased won't be released until the autopsies are complete, but the state patrol says they are believed to be from northeast nebraska. the nebraska state patrol is being assisted in the investigation by the state fire marshal, the pierce county attorney and pierce county sheriff's office. we might see some rain tonight but what does that mean for tomorrow? for that, we'll toss it over to chief meteorologis t ron demerer with the first look at our forecast. weather ad-lib a stronger south wind combined with a little more sun today to make for a warmer afternoon as highs made it into

austin roberts. he's the spencer high school student, who collapsed during the championship round of saturday's spencer invitational. roberts never got back up after he collapsed. this is video of a prior match, and not the one in which roberts collapsed today, the state medical examiner conducted an autopsy on roberts' body. results are pending further investigation. a visitatiti for roberts begins at 3:00pm on sunday, december 27th, at the spencer high school gym. funeral services are set for 10:30am, on monday, december 28th, at the spencer high school gym. visitation is underway for jeanne vakulskas, sioux city's first female firefighter. vakulskas died sunday at her home. visitation is tonight from 4 to 8 at meyer brothers morningside chapel. there will be a vigil service held at 7:00 this evening. her funeral is tomorrow at st. joseph's church in sioux city. that begins at 10:30 a-m. vakulskas served from 1985 to 2007. she was 63-years-old.

candidate rick santorum will round out 2015 with a visit to northwest iowa. the former pennsylvania senator will make two stops on december 30th. the first stop is a "meet and greet" reception at the leonard farm, on highway 59, just north of holstein, iowa. the event starts at noon. santorum is expected to address his pro-life stance, and his views on the economy, radical islam and immigration. republican marco rubio wilil campaign in sioux city next tuesday night. the rubio campaign says the florida senator will outline his vision for "a new american century" at the holiday inn, on gordon drive, at 6:45, on tuesday, december 29th. state regulators could make a decision as early as next month on whether to again approve the south dakota portion of the keystone xl pipeline. the state public utilities commission denied requests to throw out the pipepene project. opponents argued that president obama killed the pipeline in november. an attorney for transcanada corp. says transcanada remains committed to the project, which could be revived under the next president. the commission chairman says the

out families for the holidays, you can still donate to the salvation army at their red kettle locations until christmas eve. they can be found throughout sioux city outside wal-marts, fareway stores and hobby lobby among others. there were dozens of volunteers from the community for the annual salvation army event. there were volunteers from thompson electric company, the woodbury county sheriff's office and keller williams among others. there was also help from the sioux city explorers and their mascot slider. volunteers say it was important for them to help out, especially during this time of year. "i think we need to not take for granted what we have and help people that might be in need this time and just give back in any way that we can," said mindy mullen, a realtor for keller williams realty of siouxland. "it's been outstanding," said chris jansen, a deputy with the woodbury county sheriff's office. "just the smiles on people's faces when we're giving the donated items to these guys, it's great." the volunteers had multiple tasks. some paired up with families to help them find items. others helped put together and carry food boxeses

the hawkeyes have just oneday in iowa city before they fly out on christmas eve for the rose bowl. iowa is getting ready to play stanford on new yearar day -- and the preparions are going well. iowa began their rose bowl practices last week as the players finished up their finals in the classroom. the hawks have been indoors all week -- stanford practiced on monday, and their players have three days off before getting back on the field on friday. th teams can have 15 practices. the hawkeyes have lost their last three bowls games and no players in the senior class have ever won a postseason game. after some time off, iowa's glad to be working again. "we've always had a chip on our shoulder throughout the season and it's no different now," said wide receiver tevaun smith. "we'll always be the underdog and that's what we like. we like proving people wrong and we're going to continue to work hard and be ready for stanford on january 1st." "they're a very powerful ruruing team," said safety jordan lomax. "they have a big up frononline and you know they have a great running back. they have a great quarterback so that's going to present a huge challenge for us but as long as we're playing tough, physical fundamental, iowa football defense, we should be fine."

in the afternoon on new year's day. the hawks are six and a half point underdogs. morningside is third in the final naia football rankings of the season. the mustangs were number-1 in the final l gular season poll and finished their season at 12 and 2, losing to southern oregon in the playoff semifinals. morningside has been in the naia top ten for sixty consecutive polls, going back to 2011. marian of indiana is tops after winning the national title, 31-14 over southern oregon. gpac rival doane was ninth. the hawkeye basketball team is back on the court tonight to play tennessee tech. iowa is 8 and 3 -- and getting votes in the a-p poll. iowa has won five of its last six games after beating drake on saturday. tennessee tech is 8-4, with seven wins in their last nine games. this will be iowa's last game until next tuesday, when the open the big ten schedule against top- ranked michigan state. it might be the last chance for the hawks get some of the younger guys some playi time before conference play starts.
