calling wednesday's protest in minneapolis a success. they managed to disrupt operations at the nation's largest mall during holiday shopping -- and at the airport. jennifer mayerle has more.

the group says they want justice for jamar clark - the 24 year old who was shot and killed by minneapolis police last month. they also want video of the shooting released. and in the bigger picture, the group wants an overhaul of the justice system. the man who admitted to killing three people and wounding nine others at a

parenthood will undergo a mental health evaluation. a judge ordered the evaluation for robert dear after he told the judge he wants to represent himself in court. the e -year-old made the request at a status hearing yesterday afternoon. he faces 179 counts which includes murder in the first degree for his shooting rampage on november 27-th. dear told the judge that that the forced psychological evaluation goes against his constitutional rights. he is due back in court on february 24-th for a status conference. the entire process could take up to nine months. spencer, iowa, police need your help tracking down the suspects, who broke into a local mall, and stole cash from an atm. early yesterday morning, spencer's police chief says the suspects entered the southpark mall by breaking out a window near the front entrance. once inside, they opened the nearby atm machine, and removed the money inside. if you have any information about this crime, call the spencer

two people are dead, and two others are in the hospital, after an afternoon car crash yesterday in buena vista county, iowa. the buena vista county sheriff says the two vehicles collided head-on on highway 7 near the raccoon river bridge, which is west of newell. two adults were pronounced dead at the scene, but authorities haven't released their names. two others were taken to the buena vista regional medical center, in storm lake, with non-life threateningngnjuries. the only person arrested in connection with a home invasion, in sioux city, will be arraigned on new year's eve. 21-year-old austin cummings of sioux city faces four charges connected to the robbery and assault that terrorized a sioux city woman, and her sons, back on december 7th. police say cummings was one of two men who entered the home of jodi blackwell in the 26- hundred block of south alice street about three a-m monday. the men asked for drugs and money. police say the victims believe they had the wrong house.

tied up and beaten with a crowbar while blackwell was held at gunpoint. the thieves took multiple video game systems, a tv and cell phone. dozens of people gathered yesterday to reflect on the life of jeanne kulskas, sioux city'y' first female firefighter. her funeral was held at st. joseph's catholic church where family, friends and firefighters came together to pay their last respects. there were prayers, hymns and a look back on vakulskas' accomplishme nts as a firefighter. those who knew her said her greatest accomplilien t was her three sons. "the thing that i'm so proud of is my daughter some day, because of what she accomplished, may have opportunities that otherwise she would not have," said jerry plathe, vakulskas' son. vakulskas joined the fire department in 1985, a career she dedicated her life to for 22 years. "she was just very compassionate," said sioux city fire chief tom everett. "she had a unique ability to be able to connect

comfortable in some of the worst situations t tt they'd ever experience." vakulskas served on the fire department from 1985 to 2007. she died in her home on sunday. she was 63. as santa's elves work around the clock to get ready for christmas, we found another toy y op in an unusual locacaon. ktiv's sheila brummer traveled to springfield, south dakota for the story.

the construction technology program at the prison started making toys five-years ago. :37 "the guys put a lot of effort to it. then we do air brushing to put more detail into it. :43 we make pay loaders, trains and puzzles they put a lot of effort into foreman. that first season. good to use 1:49 "the toyy are usuallyygiven t at christmas time. but, if someone has a fire we'll have the churches and they'll tell us about a family we'll give out toys at that time as well," said deputy warden, jennifer stanwick. the program started 10 years ago. back then, the inmates worked on 35 to 40 bicycles. they tear them apartrtsandblast the parts, put them back together, then paint them. this year, a dozen guys redid about 13-hundred bikes. :48 we get a lot of letters back from kids and family from people who appreciate them." 1:15: the inmates get a sense of worth putting these bikes out for the kids. . ey really do. they really enjoy it" the bikes go to non- profits, churches and police departments. pretty much anyone who asks with a need. and, the parts the inmates can't use, also get recycled. some inmates actually turn to knitting. this year, they partnered with goodwill of the great plains to help with and mitten drive. yarn is donated from local churches and goodwill, and the inmates knit hundreds of hats and scarves. drones are flying off the shelves this holiday season. coming up next, we'll show you how some businesses are benefitting from the new

visited big box retailers selling drones to educate workers how to operate them properly and starting today owners need register their drones - or face civil penalties over 27,000 and criminal penalties of up to a quarter of a million dollars. (reporter stand up: mary thompson) the faa sees the registration process as a to educate users on how to fly safely and within the laws of the land, like k kping drones below 400 feet and five miles from an airport. hobbyists will learn those lessons at the academy, but that's not the only audience its targeting. barnes partnering with professor mike chumer of the new jersey institute of technology to conduct research with drones and to train first responders on how to operate them. (sot: dr. michael chumer,new jersey institute of technology prof.) they can permit first responders to communicate much faster. if they communicate faster they're likely to save more lives. expecting the sky's the limit when it comes to the

rand paul is airing his grievances against his republican opponents... but it's all in the name in the holiday season. rand paul wished his twitter followers a happy festivus yesterday. the made-up holiday was introduced on the sitcom "seinfeld." as part of a festivus celebration, followers are encouraged to air their grievances in a series of tweets, paul took humorous shots at several republican rivals... including donald trump, ted cruz, and ben carson. he had a grievance for hillary clinton, too. he also previewed some gripes on government spending... part of a 38-page "festivus" report on examples of waste that he commissioned. it was a somber ceremony in delaware, as the remains of the six americans killed in afghanistan returned home. a dignified transfer ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at the new castle air national guard base. the airmen and national guardsmen were killed on monday in a suicide bombing near bagram air base. storms killed at least seven

stocks are closing higher for a third day in a row, once again taking their lead from oil prices. the price of c cde oil rose 4 percent . the dow rose 185 points to close at 17,602. the nasdaq was up nearly 45... and the s&p climbed 25 points. with the gains in the last three days, u.s. markets have recovered roughly two-thirds of the losses they incurred late last week. all that holiday shopping may be leaving a mark on your credit score. with more on that story and other business news, here's our morning show producer, kaitlyn nney.... thanks sarah all those holiday purchases placed on your credit card can raise your credit utilization and cause some short-term damage to your credit score. but... if you pay your bills on

access customer credit card numbers. the malware was found on hyatt hotel computer systems used it to process customer payments. the chicago-based resort chain is working with outside security e eerts to figure out what happened. hyatt officials have not onfirmed whether any sensitive information was stolen by hackers. the company is now using stronger security measures -- and says customers can feel confident using payment cards at hyatt hotels worldwide. the transportatio n security administration has issued a new rule for airport security screening. t-s-a screeners can now force anyone to go through body scanners, even if they want to opt out. before the change, passengers could choose a full body pat down instead of the body scanner. a t-s-a spokesperson says the scanner does not store personal information and improves threat detection for metallic and non-metallic objects that a pat-down might miss. the change comes amid heightened security concerns about terror plots on commercial airlin. ever forget your password to a website?

password free log in system. google has invited select users to test a new system that allows them to log in without a password. the new system asks you for your e-mail address, then the site sends a notification to your mobile device, asking if you're trying to log in. all you have to do is click yes on your mobile device, and d u're in! you'll still have the option to log in using a password if your phone dies or is stolen. the tech giant is hoping to keep accounts more secure while still making it easy to log in to your account.

headlines today in siouxland. funeral services were held yesterday for sioux city's first female firefighter. jeanne vakulskas served with the fire department for 22 years. those who knew her said her greatest accomplishme nt was her three sons. one of her sons says he is proud of everything his mother accomplished, and he believes it will help pave the way for his daughter to have more opportunities down the road. a siouxland high school marching band is headed to a bowl game. the gehlen cathohoc band in le mars, iowa was

halftime show of the nationally televised russell's athletic bowl in orlando, florida. the jays will play with 3- thousand other students from 26 schools around the cocotry. the band's director says after almost 120 hours of practice, they're ready. they leave on saturday for the 24 hour trek down south. inmates at the mike durfee state prison in springfield south dakota are spreading some christmas cheer. it's all part of the construction technology program that the prison started five years ago. the inmates hand-make hundreds of toys. most of the the toys are handed out at christmas time. many prisioners say helping others makeseshem feel like they're doing something right for once. another program that the prison runs allows the inmates to refurbish bikes for children. that program started ten years ago. they take the bikes completely apart and put them back together, paint them anangive them new life. this year about a dozen men redid about 13

a siouxland high school marching band is bowl bound. getting to perform during the half time show of nationally televised bowl game is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it's a special chance for kids from gehlen catholic in le mars, iowa to represent their corner of northwest iowa.

halftime show of the nationally televised russell's athletic bowl in orlando, florida. the jays will play with 3- thousand other students from 26 schools around the country. the band's director says after almost 120 hours of practice, they're ready. they leave on saturday for the 24 hour trek down south. inmates at the mike durfee state prison in springfield south dakota are spreading some christmas cheer. it's all part of the construction technology program that the prison started five years ago. the inmates hand-make hundreds of toys. most of the the toys are handed out at christmas time. many prisioners say helping others makes them feel like they're doing something right for once. another program that the prison runs allows the inmates to refurbish bikes for children. that program started ten years ago. they take the bikes completely apart and put them back together, paint them and give them new life. this year about a dozen men
