"like i said, i don't feel like i deserve it, all these guys have part time jobs or some almost qualify as full time jobs. plus they all help each other, they help me

much," said risor about the firefighters she works with daily. "so, for me, to help out another one of us that works here it is not a big deal, in my mind. that is what you do when you work here." the fire chief says risor was nominated partly because of her taking on the duties of a coworker who suffered health issues during the year. risor said she is humbled by the award, and is thankful for the people she works alongside everyday. three other people were also honored. friends, family and colleagues say goodbye to a new york city police detective with ties to siououand. joseph lemm was killed in a suicide attack in afghanistan last week. "nat snd of bag pipes" detective lemm was orginally from beemer, nebraska. he was the son of shirley lemm from wisner. during his time with the nypd, he was deployed twice to afghanistan and once to iraq. he was one of six service members killed.

behind a wife and two children. siouxland veterans gathered today for free coffee and good company. the organziation... support siouxland soldiers...held it's second thank a vet event of the year. the event was open to all veterans to spend the morning with other veterans sharing experiences of their time in the service over a cup of coffee and donut. the event brings together both present and past serviceceembers. last month the more than 20 veterans took part in the event and organzier of the event, sam hacker hopes it will continue to grow. storm lake police arrested 30-year-old rachel wunder and charged her with second degree yesterday. police were called to the sign shed earlier this month. investigation releaved t tt wunder stole over $3,300 from the business. she was booked into the buena vista county jail. republican presidential candidate rick santorum made campaign stops in siouxland, today. the former pennsylvania senator made a stop in sioux city. the presidential hopeful also attended this meet and greet at a home in holstein, ia, this afternoon. the former senator stressed the importance of being available to voters. "folks in iowa, the folks that show up to the caucuses want to haveve chance to look you in the eye and measure you up," said santorum. "i think that's the process that, after the first of the year, they're really going to start to get serious about doing." santorum came in first place in the iowa caucuses four-years ago. he's planning another stop in

maplplon's five churches have joined to maintain an emergency house that's available to anyone who needs shelter. it sits near st. john's methodist church, which bought the property and planned to tear down the house so more parking spaces could be provided. but the pastor at the time and congregation had a change of heart. it was dubbed god's little house and has provided free shelter for people since 2008. today momo than 350 kids found out if they have what it takes to be a ninja warrior. the second annual siouxland ninja warrior camp began mday at t hper center in sioux city. the camp included different stations with several inflatables. the kids' favorite..the melt master. not only did the camp touch on physcial fitness but also learning about healthy snack options. a camp organizer says the program allows kids to be active during the holiday break. yesterday, we talked about the increase in impaired driving arrests in sioux city for the month of december. but how do police make those arrests? the alcohol safety action program or asap unit focuses on drunk and drugged driving. ktiv's tiffany lane shows us the steps it takes to make an arrest.
