survive the five the f-a-a has been called in to investigate the crash of a small plane near pender, nebraska last night that claimed the life of the pilot. the plane disappeared last night after being diverted from landing at sioux gateway airport. the wreckage was about 1-30 this morning outside pender. ktiv's tiffany lane is near the scene and joins us live now with the very latest details. tiffany? al, i'm about half a mile away from the scene as this is the closest authorities would let us go at this time.

so it is a bit difficult to see the crash site clearly at this time. the wayne county sheriff brought faa officials to the plane about an hour ago according to nebraska state troopers. the single-engine cessna like this one had left columbia, missouri, bound for sioux city. but authorities at sioux gateway airport diverted the flight to wayne because of bad weather. it was cloudy and foggy at the time. the plane should have arrived in wayne about seven last night. it was reported missing from radar at 7:18 by officials at sioux gateway. crews searched the area between pender and concord for the missing plane overnight. "we did a search here at the airport runways and everything but we did not find a plane. it did not show up here. the police department came out and said there was a missing plane. so from there on it was search and rescue. i guess about 2 o'clock this morning we got news that they

ponca state park superintendent, jeff fields. around 50 people in different age groups fling a fruit cake as far as they can. the record distance was set two years ago... with a throw over 130 feet. people clapping and cheering. "participants say the fruit cake fling is a unique way to have fun, but the best part is the family time." the entire sexton family participated in the throw. "it was really fun. i was kind of nervous because i've never done this before, but it was really fun," said 10- year-old, keira sexton. "it's a cool experience and you can just hike and it's fun with your family," said ian sexton. "it's cold so you get to bundle up with your family and have a nice time," said 15-year-old, quin sexton. "it was a great opportunity to come out to a beautiful state park and have a good time with the family. we've done this kind of thing before, kind of staying a cabin type of environment and it's a lot of fun," said dennis sexton. they say it was more than a friendly competition... "we have so much stuff going on sometimes we don't get to see each other very much so it's just nice to have some family time. it's kind of quality time," said 10-year-old, keira sexton. and they plan on coming back next year... sisters of siouxland what we do is we match at risk children with positive adult mentors across siouxland. what we're really trying to do is just be that sense of stability in a child's life. we pair these positive adult role models with children across siouxland, they meet throughout the year. we ask for a one year commitment. they meet on average four times a month for about four hours. for those who may not be able to make that kind of commitment you can still go out and bowl for kids' sake coming up in march. you've got a kick off event coming up in january. bowl for kids' sake is our signature fundraising event. this is going to be our biggest impact on the community. we're going to being in the most money. we have a couple hundred bowlers across siouxland come together. they help raise money, put together a team. we're going to have a theme this year, it's celebrities bowl so come dressed as your favorite celebrity. we'll get together, we'll have a two day party to help celebrate mentoring in s suxland. let's well. you're always in line for those mentor role models for siouxland. i definitelthink that's our most important need right now. we have 50 kids on
