to arrest hoffman who was wanted on burglary and theft charges. authorities say hoffman assaulted the officer, then took his gun. a massive manhunt was launched in niobrara. schools and businesses were locked down as a precaution. texas state trooper brian encinia turned himself in to texas rangers thursday afternoon. a grand jury indicted encinia on wednesday charging him with perjury. they say he lied about what led to his confrontation with sandra bland following a traffic stop last year. encinia was later released on a 25-hundred dollar bond. if convicted, he faces up to one year in prison and a 4-thousand dollar fine. a philadelphia police officer is lucky to be alive after he was shot multiple times in a shootout with a suspect late thursday. police say the shooting happened just before midnight. 33-year-old officer jesse hartnett was driving through a west philadelphia intersection when the suspect opened fire. hartnett was shot 3 times in his left arm and suffered

"this is an attempt from the administration to properly carry out the legistlator's intent when they passed this law. if a citizen of south dakota gets one of these tickets, they need to speak with their attorney to determine what their liability is as it relates to that ticket in the processes," said matt konenkamp, policy advisor to s.d.'s governor. the move protects south dakotans from private contractors, who oversee the cameras, from getting their personal information. although sioux city police can no longer access the information through the database, an assistant city attorney says the violations will continue to be sent as normal. "we're confident in the other methods that we have to research address and actually send out citiations that we don't feel there will be any glich going forward and tickets will go out like they did to anyone caught violating in sioux city," said justin vondrak, assistant city attorney. konenkamp says sioux city police will have 24-7 access to the south dakota disptach to get any neccasary information regarding criminal cases.

"that was a road that was paid for by primarly federal tax money from all over the country and i don't think it's right to have that on an interstate," said rep. jim bolin, (r) canton. bolin says the cameras may be of service to sioux city, but that the interstate isn't the right place for them. short distance away. hartnett was taken into surgery early friday and is expected to make a full recovery. there is still no word on the condition of the suspect or a motive for the shooting. the netflix series "making a murderer" has taken the country by storm, much to the chagrin of a wisconsin attorney. the series focuses on the steven avery murder trial, and heavily suggests investigators framed avery, and his nephew. then-prosecutor ken kratz is the center of the series as the antagonist. joshua schuder tells us why kratz now fears for his life.

murder of teresa halbach. the case spanned from 2005 to 2007 and finally resulted in guilty verdict against avery and a sentence of life in prison. kratz resigned from the da position in 2010 following a sexting scandal where he soon after opened a law firm in superior. now with hundreds of thousands of people under the impression that avery is innocent after watching the series, kratz has garnered a lot of unwanted attention. "some really vile suggestions having been made by over 2,000 messages that i've received goes well beyond any constructive dialogue that could have come from this," said kratz. comments that kratz says specifically threaten his safety, the safety of his law firm and even his family. "hopefully that is just idle rantings of individuals that are so affected by this documentary," unconscionable to call the series a documentary, show evidence that lead to "it's not a documentary at all, kratz. the filmmakers say they represented the facts accurately using exactly what kratz said in news conferences and in court.

sioux city police will have to use new avenues to find addresses for south dakota drivers caught by speed cameras. on wednesday, south dakota governor dennis daugaard's office sent down a block on their database. ktiv's michelle schoening found out what this action means for sioux city police.

the move protects south dakotans from private contractors, who oversee the cameras, from getting their personal information. although sioux city police can no longer access the information through the database, an assistant city attorney says the violations will continue to be sent as normal.
