the snow may have moved out of siouxland, but clean up efforts continue. list of weather related announcement s. no doubt some evening activities are affected by the storm. they're under the "weather" tab as well. with the temperatures dropping into the single digits.... and below zero in some places... there's a chance your pipes could freeze. to prevent that from happening... let the hot and cold faucets drip o ornight. open cabinet doors to allow heat to get to pipes under sinks. disconnect garden hoses and, if practical, use an indoor valve to shut off and drain water from pipes leading to outside faucets. and, maintain adequate heat inside your home if you are going away for an extended period of time. weekend might make for a few days spent indoors. but, not everyone will have a warm roof over their head. that's where places like the gospel mission come in. among other services, they offer a place for those needing to escape bitter conditions. and if you come across someone that may appear to need a quick haven, the mission suggests this. "i would say to them to approach them and engage them in a conversation to find out rather or not they know about the gospel mission," said dayle webbs. "they are quite a few people that know about the gospel mission but don't want to come because of the structure we have in place." webbs says when the weather r rsh, they stay open n nger to allow more people access. the warming shelter at 9th and nebraska is already at capacity. the 77 bed-facility provides a temporary spot for the homeless and usually doesn't turn people away. this winter they have been busy and a board members tells news4 they plan to bring in more beds in the near future to keep up

authorities in sac county are investigating a deadly fire. it broke out betwewe the communities of breda and auburn. when fire crews arrived on the scene around eight this morning they found the house had already burned to the ground. the person who lived there didn't show up for work. so, the state fire marshal's office was called in. this afternoon they found human remains in the ruins. the state medical office is conducing an autopsy and trying to identify the fire victim. the cause of the fire isn't known yet. a sioux city man faces several charges after he tried to steal hundreds of dollars in merchandise from a store in the southern hills mall. police say 20-year-old clinton gant grabbed 900- dollars worth of goods at scheels, and tried to get away. investigators say gant assaulted one of te store's loss prevention officers while trying to get away. a police interview led police to suspect gant's involvement in several other crimes. he's charged with 2nd- degree robbery, two forgery counts, and three counts of vehicle theft. we have new information tonight about the man, who was shot by police after the suspect pointed

at the o oicers in yankton, south dakota. . angel has pleaded guilty to two o counts of aggravated assault against law enforcement, and one count aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. this all started back in september of 2015, when, police say, angel assaulted two people and attempted to carjack a woman at gunpoint on september 1st. officers attempted to take angel into custody. that's when he fled, grabbed a gun, eventually pointing it at the officers. he was then shot by officer jason foote. after an investigation, dci concludedethe shooting was justified. angel will be sentenced in yankton county court on january 22nd. still to come... basketball is taking over down at the tyson events center. ktiv's mark freund is live in downtown sioux city with more. the 10th annual c-n-o-s classic got underway yesterday. we'll have highlights from today's early games - and more on the classic - coming

inches. the light snow will move off to the east tonight and colder air is already filtering in behind this system. expect temps to hover only around 10 degrees on saturday and with a strong northwest wind our wind chills will be below zero all day. saturday night looks like the coldest of the nights ahead as we could see a low around -8 in sioux city and it'll be even colder in northern siouxland. sunday will give us plenty of sunshine but our highs will still only get into the single digits. a little warmer air return by monday although we're expecting to stay below average all next week but at least there's no more snow in

compete to have their voice heard. it's called the innovation market contest and this morning the sioux city growth organizaiton announced the 2016 contest details. they're in search of a new business idea to grow and connect to other entrepreneurs. it'll be held february 23rd at the ho-chunk centre in sioux city. along with the contest, sioux city's economic development department also made an announcement about their "dream big, grow here" contest. the statewide business grant contest helps iowans fulfill their dreams of self-employment or expansion of their business. both the innovation market contest and the regional dream big grow here contest went to jackson street brewing last year. there is more great action going on at the cnos classic. that includes two ranked girls teams playing right now as sioux city west is facing unity christian. sports fource is "on the road" in downtown sioux city. ktiv's mark freund has an update. sioux city west is ranked 14th in iowa class 5a. unititchristian is ranked first in class 2a -- a a are the defending state champions. right now, unity is leading west - to -, in the -- quarter. these two teams probably would not play each other -- if the organizers of the cnos classic had not paired them up. c-n-o-s sponsors this event in three sports - football, basketball and baseball - and good, local matchups are just part of the equation.
