january is national big brothers and big sisters month, and our local branch is in desperate need of mentors. big brothers and big sisters is a program aimed at giving kids an adult- figure in their lives. the mentors hang out, talk and do many fun activities with their mentees. currently in siouxland--the re are 162 matches. but, there are still 47 kids who need mentors---44 of them being boys. the program just matched one mentee who waited for two years until they found the perfect match. ktiv's michelle schoening has the journey of one little who is now a big mentoring his own little.

the girls from unity christian have been perfect over the last two seasons. the knights finished undefeated last year -- winning the class 2a state championship. they're 12-and-0 this season, and are eyeing a title repeat. ktiv's mark freund caught up with this week's sportsfource champions. they say it's out with the old - and in with the new.
