but one onawa, iowa man is living large today after collecting the $1.4 million he won from his powerball ticket. we'll head to onawa to show you how he plans to do with it. and wind energy experts have installed a unique wind turbine on the iowa lakes community campus farm. we'll take you there in a little bit. and sarah te slaa is at the tyson events center. she's getting ready for the monster truck nationals show this weekend. we'll meet two of the drivers and get to see some of the trucks that will be driven. but first, here's ben.

"i won this money but i don't want to just retire. it's not possible anymore." in onawa, iowa, sam curtiss, ktiv news four. >> lottery officials say after taxes, stewart walked away with $1.4 million. isis has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack in jakarta, indonesia that killed seven people, including five attackers. indonesian police said today that they retrieved an isis flag from the home of one of the attackers. twenty people were wounded in yesterday's attack, which included explosives, grenades and guns. three people suspected of plotting the attack have been arrested. stewart's ticket was one of eight in the united states that won two- million dollars. after taxes, he gets $1.4 million. isis has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack in jakarta, indonesia that killed seven people,

indonesian police said today that they retrieved an isis flag from the home of one of the attackers. twenty people were wounded in yesterday's attack, which included explosives, grenades and guns. three people suspected of plotting the attack have been arrested. a ski trip ended in tragedy in japan this morning. officials said a tour bus carrying 41 people went off a mountain road and crashed, killing 14 people and injuring 27. the two drivers on the trip were among the dead. it happened n central japan's nagano prefecture. investigators must now determine how it happened. video from the scene indicates there was no snow or rain on the road at the time. officials said the company operating the bus had a history of of drivers' safety violations. a top japanese official said the government would investigate the cause. while the national guard begins helping residents of flint, protesters rode a bus to michigan's capitol to ask governor rick snyder to resign.

2014, flint officials switched the city's water from detroit water's lake huron source, which was known to be safe, to the flint river - which was not tested. as a result, high levels of lead were discovered in flint's water. in genesee county ten people died from legionnaires' disease in the past two years. state officials stopped short of saying that flint water was the cause, saying there's a lack of clinical data. michigan governor rick snyder has come under fire for his role in handling the situation and slow response. wind energy experts have been studying new ways to generate power for decades. and now, technology has caught up with their theories... making them a reality. ktiv's tommie clark spoke with wind energy experts, who installed a unique wind turbine on the iowa lakes community college campus farm.

"this is a great wind area that's why we're in iowa i mean we looked at different sites in texas and kansas, iowa beats them all. the annual sustained winds here are just awesome," said founder of chava wind, hagem ruff. the german company originally made the quieter, more aesthetically pleasing turbine for clients in they realized its potential. wind turbine right behind me would be a game changer, and it would not only benefit the students of iowa lakes, but the whole state of iowa." "the opportunity for us from a learning and potentially future work force development and training opportunity is huge," said iowa lakes community college director of sustainable

technologies, dan lutat. the turbine is in its final installation stages-- with chava trimming and tuning the blades while the school develops its power curve. over the next 6 months they will look at atmospheric data while teaching students about energy production and future marketing possibilities. the dubuque, iowa karate club is now a few months into their jedi training. it was the original star wars movie, released nearly 40 years ago, that inspired this unique training course. brad hanson from our sister station in waterloo got a chance to see this training first hand.

i wanted to be a jedi." schmitt was crushed when he found out jedi's weren't real. but he soon started a decades long journey with martial arts--includin g running a weapon's academy. schmitt was determined to merge his two passions into a very real class. "as a kid, i would've given anything to join a jedi training academy or lightsaber academy, but there wasn't really anythinin around. so i thought, you know, i'm going to look into starting my own." (brad hanson, @bhansonkww l) "while there's no such thing as jedi's in real life, schmitt says, well, he's the closest thing to it. as for me, i still need quite a bit of training." schmitt says the lightsaber academy is more than just learning cool moves with combat ready light sabers. "i wanted to be able to teach a class that has some substance to it too. we didn't want to just play star wars, we wanted the student to leave here feeling like they're getting something out of it." it took more than a year of planning to get this academy off the ground--two of the people in on the ground floor, abby harle and cassie jackson, had never seen the movies before they started this journey. although that's no longer the case. for free trade but fair trade." there's one republican debate left before the iowa caucuses. that's january 28th in iowa. the carolina sunday. i'm tracie potts in washington, >> the vice president begins his mission to battle cancer today. at tuesday night's state of the union address president obama tapped joe biden to head an effort to work on curing c ccer. that came after the vice president had called for a "moonshot" to cure cancer last october. today biden will be in philadelphia to participate in a roundtable discussion at the abramson cancer center at the university of pennsylvania's perelman school of medicine.... and where he will talk to cancer experts. biden's son, beau, died of brain cancer last year. after taking office last year, nebraska governor pete ricketts vowed to make property tax relief a priority. it's a theme that continued yesterday, as the governor delivered his second state of the state address. ktiv's robert lowe has more from lincoln, nebraska.

to residents was a message he hit hard on thursday. "we must prioritize property tax relief. it is my number one priority this session," said nebraska gov. (nats) that's the reason for a new, two-bill package. "agriculture is our number one industry here in nebraska, representing nearly 25 percent of our state's economy," said nebraska gov. pete ricketts "while farm incomes are subject to variations and flucuations each year, property taxes go up and up." part of the plan aims to slash land valuations. for example, cutting a projected 6.8 percent increase in 2016 for northeast, nebraska--dow "every farmer, every farmowner pays that tax every year whether you make money or not," said state sen. dave bloomfield from hoskins. another portion of the package includes tightening local government spending limits. "he's(gov. rickett's) has realm of services me must have and those we'd like to have," bancroft, ne. but, the gov. didn't stop with property tax relief. ricketts is also asking lawmakers to approve using $150 million of the state's cash reserve to improve infrastructure. that'll possibly drive forward the expansion of highway 81 and highway 275 from two to four lanes. "it gives a base, along with the design-build concept, so that we can start getting dirt moved on 275 as early as 2019,"said state sen. jim scheer, norfolk, ne.. but, time is not on the

"we've created the nebraska developing youth talent initiative which is working with private sector companies to get them involved with our schools to help develop some of that training at an early age," said nebraska governor pete ricketts. gov. ricketts visited 3 other cities yesterday and has 6 more to visit today to finish his trip across the state. as the iowa legislativivsession wraps up its first week, lawmakers are still processing governor terry branstad's request for more state aid to schools. sioux city's education association is advocating for raises for local teachers in their initial proposal for the 2016-2017 school year. regional director bruce lear says, like every year, they hope to get more pay for teachers. this year, the union is asking for a six-percent increase for salaried teachers.

some of these kids picked up at bow and arrow for the first time this year and have quite the eye for it. 7:20 "anybody can shoot a bow," says trace chrisman, a senior at sbl. his mission to find a cure for cancer today. at tuesday night's state of the union address president obama tapped joe biden to head an effort to work on curing cancer. in october, biden called for a "moonshot" to cure cancer. today biden will be in philadelphia to participate in a roundtable discussion at the university of pennsylvania's perelman school of medicine.... it's a personal cause for mister biden, of cour, after his son, beau, died of brain cancer last year. after taking office last year, nebraska governor pete ricketts vowed to make property tax relief a priority. it's a theme that continued delivered his second state of ktiv's robert lowe has more from lincoln, nebraska.

pete ricketts. (nats) that's the reason for a new, two-bill package. "agriculture is our number one industry here in nebraska, representing nearly 25 percent of our state's economy," said nebraska gov. pete ricketts "while farm incomes are subject to variations and flucuations each year, property taxes go up and up." part of the plan aims to slash agricultural land valuations. for example, cutting a projected 6.8 percent increase in 2016 for northeast, nebraska--dow n to 1.7 percent. "every farmer, every farmowner pays that tax every year whether you make money or not," said state sen. dave bloomfield from hoskins. another portion of the package includes tightening local government spending limits. "he's(gov. rickett's) has basically looked at the entire realm of services me must have and those we'd like to have," said sen. lydia brasch, bancroft, ne. but, the gov. didn't stop with property tax relief. ricketts is also asking lawmakers to approve using $150 million of the state's cash reserve to improve infrastructure. that'll possibly drive forward

al? thanks, sarah here's a look at some of the stories making headlines this friday morning in siouxland. governor pete ricketts is urging nebraska lawmakers to pass bills to slow the statewide growth in property taxes. after delivering his second "state of the state" address to the legislature thursday morning, ricketts hit the road to sell his ideas to nebraskans. he outlined his proposals at this stop in south sioux city. he also touted nebraska's unemployment rate of 2.9 percent, which is the second lowest in the country. ricketts also wants lawmakers to

under the federal health care law. the sioux city's education association is asking for a six-percent pay raise for salaried teachers. it's a starting point in negotiations with the public school district. the teachers' union is also asking for smaller class sizes, which would require the district to hire more teachers. the school board will review the proposal, and present the district's initial offer on january 28th. after that, the two sides will hold private negotiations to reach a contract. and bryon stewart collects his check. the onawa, iowa man won two-million dollars in this week's record 1-point-6 bilion dollar powerball game. stewart matched the first five numbers but not the powerball, and he added the "power play" which doubled his prize to two-million. stewart bought three tickets from casey's store in onawa, where word of his win traveled quickly thursday. after taxes, he's taking home 1-point-4 million dollars. stewart, who is 23, says he'll pay off some loans, but he plans to keep his job.
