"there's so much energy and so much excitement in sioux city that really led to a resurgence in our group. we wanted to build on that. we knew there was a ton going on in greater siouxland that our folks haven't seen yet. we want to bring all those corporate ceos and business owners back to the region," said mike ralston, president of iowa association of business and industry's (abi). not only will the conference show off what siouxland has to offer, but it will give local companies a chance to connect with iowa executives. "this is a networking opportunity of them. it's a great opportunity for them to meet c- sweet executives from throughout iowa. maybe a new supplier or new vendor, someone that they can do business with," said chris mcgowan, president of the siouxland chamber of commerce. the conference is set for june 14-th through the 16-th.

"but at the end of the day we are going to rally and unify and rally around our nominee, cuz we believe it's most important to defeat hillary clinton. "we had a town hall last night in des moines and they are really pushing to the end and they're telling people you're sort of closing the deal," said dr. andy mcguire, chair of the iowa democratic party. "they're telling people why they should vote for them." both party leaders say iowa's standing as the first in the nation caucus is an important one. they say this caucus will be a reflection of that. "i anticipate with the depth of our field that there'll be more tickets out of iowa, i anticipate you can see five, possibly six tickets out of iowa moving forward as candidates gain momentum," said hoefert. "all three of our candidates have

farmers are gearing up for the upcoming growing season. and the iowa state university extension and outreach program is arming them with research. throughout the month, they've been hosting a crop advantage series like this one in le mars. the workshops are intended to give farmers the latest information to help for the season. one isu agronomist says usda reports indicate profits will be slim for many this year. the 13 topics discussed at the workshops revolved around creating revenue while managing margins. "they get a lot of unbiased information [and] local data that i can, hopefully, put on my farm to make my farm profitable," said luke homan, a

there's two more workshops in the series. one in carroll on thursday and one in moline, illinois on friday. area fisherman now have about 1,500 more reasons to go fishing at bacon creek lake. the iowa department of natural resources held a trout stocking at the lake this afternoon. the stocking was originally supposed to take place on january 16th, but was postponed due to unsafe ice conditions. the trout were sent through a long tube and into a hole in the ice. one d-n-r official said the stocking is a good way to continue to provide outdoor recreation.
