bring it back to siouxland. more than 500 business executives from around iowa will be in attendence. conference-goers will have the chance to take a tour of downtown, the orpheum theatre and american popcorn, and other locations. a-b-i president says this is an opportunity to showcase the growth of sioux city. "there's so much energy and so much excitement in sioux city that really led to a resurgence in our group. we wanted to build on that. we knew there was a ton going on in greater siouxland that our folks haven't seen yet. we want to bring all those corporate ceos and business owners back to the region," said mike ralston, president of iowa association of business and industry's (abi). not only will the conference show off what siouxland has to offer, but it will give local companies a chance to connect with iowa executives. "this is a networking opportunity of them. it's a great opportunity for them to meet c- sweet executives from throughout iowa. maybe a new supplier or new vendor, someone that they can do business with," said chris mcgowan, president of the siouxland chamber of commerce. the conference is set for june 14-th through the 16-th.

state to make sure everything is prepared. there are about 1,700 caucuses across the state, one in each precinct. candidates continue to campaign throughout iowa to make sure they clinch their parties ticket. and chairs for both the iowa republican and democratic parties say their candidates are going into the caucus strong. "each of us are going to support a candidate of our choosing on caucus night," said dr. cody hoefert, chair of the republican party of iowa. "but at the end of the day we are going to rally and unify and rally around our nominee, cuz we believe it's most important to defeat hillary clinton. "we had a town hall last night in des moines and they are really pushing to the end and they're telling people you're sort of closing the deal," said dr. andy mcguire, chair of the iowa democratic party. "they're telling people why they should vote for them." both party leaders say iowa's standing as the first in the nation caucus is an important one. they say this caucus will be a reflection of that. "i anticipate with the depth of our field that there'll be more tickets out of iowa, i anticipate you can see five, possibly six tickets out of iowa moving forward as candidates gain momentum," said hoefert. "all three of our candidates have

"we appreciate that. and i think we've picked pretty good winners in the past, not always. but i think iowa will remain first in the nation." both party chairs say they are expecting record turnouts this caucus. they will be partnering with microsoft for an application that will help report votes to des moines more quickly. students at one siouxland school practiced exercising their right to vote. ktiv's tiffany lane shares how they learned the prpress behind voting.

so you have someone nice to control your state and country," said sunnyside 4th grader cali cooper. students signed in at the check-in booths and then made their way to the voting booths where they chose one candidate for each party. their votes came after a week of class discussion on candidates...and that's where they decided who they like... "i voted for ted cruz because i think he'd be a great president," said raeleigh cooper, a 4th grader at sunnyside. "hillary clinton has experience with stuff like going to places," said sam clausen, a 3rd grader at sunnyside. and who they don't like... "i really don't think donald trump is going to make it cuz i think he's only there for the fame and the fortune," said jeremiah dean, a 5th grader at sunnyside. su "after the students fill out their voter forms they bring it to this official ballot box given by the county auditor's office, and students say it helps them prepare for the future when they get to vote." "it's really important to think about the children and what they think about politics and to take their voting and what they think into value," said sunnyside 4th grader luke sayonkon. one of the organizers at sunnyside says it was nice to see students vote with open minds. "they don't have those lines so rigid in their mind about things, that they are open and you know

things from different perspectives," said elizabeth buster, co-sponsor of sunnyside elementary's student council. but the kids say sometimes politics may not be so friendly. "some of them are nice to each other," said grace stibbs, a 3rd grader at sunnyside elementary school. "and what about the others?" "he really defends the second amendment and i think he's going to have a great plan for america by defeating isis and getting out of national debt," said mater dei 8th grade student, zach uhl. farmers are gearing up for the upcoming growing season. and the iowa state university extension and outreach program is arming them with research. throughout the month, they've been hosting a crop advantage series like this one in le mars. the workshops are intended to give farmers the latest information to help for the season. one isu agronomist says usda reports indicate profits will be slim for many this year. the 13 topics discussed at the workshops revolved around creating revenue while managing margins. "they get a lot of unbiased information [and] local data that i can, hopefully, put on my farm to make my farm profitable," said luke homan, a

there's two more workshops in the series. one in carroll on thursday and one in moline, illinois on friday. area fisherman now have about 1,500 more reasons to go fishing at bacon creek lake. the iowa department of natural resources held a trout stocking at the lake this afternoon. the stocking was originally supposed to take place on january 16th, but was postponed due to unsafe ice conditions. the trout were sent through a long tube and into a hole in the ice. one d-n-r official said the stocking is a good way to continue to provide outdoor recreation. "these fish are normally cold water species that live in northeast iowa in our spring fed streams, but during the winter time, we can bring them out to some of these lakes and stock them, and provide a really neat and unique fishing opportunity for people." said ben wallace, fisheries biologist for the iowa department of natural resources. wallace also said that although most of these fish are caught in the winter months, some anglers will occasionally catch them in the summer as well. brad's here -- it's turning into a special season at dakota valley. the panther boys basketball team

homer. ktiv's mark freund has a preview from north sioux city, south dakota. dakota valley's 11- and-0 start is the best in school history. just one season after finishing 7-and-14, the panthers are primed to make a run at rapid city and the state tournament. offensive efficiency has been key for d-v so far - heading into tonight's game with homer, the panthers are averaging 65-point-2 points per game. they're also shooting 48 percent on the season, which is second in class a. the top-ranked panthers can go inside and out - but with an unblemished mark, they know they're going to get everyone's best shot.
