community college. a blizzard warning underway for siouxland: chief meteorologis t ron demers joins us now with a look at how much snow we could see! blizzard warning in effect for most of siouxland tonight through tuesday night winter storm warning for holt, harrison, & shelby counties tonight through tuesday night for the past week we've been talking about a snow storm on tuesday and that time has arrived. in fact, it's not just heavy snowowut gusty winds that are going to create whiteout conditions for many of us during the day tomorrow. the snow and stronger winds will move from south to north across nebraska and iowa tonight, mainly after midnight, and continue throughout the day tuesday and move out tuesday night. snow totals could be over a foot in some parts of cental and southern siouxland. because the biggest storm of the year is getting ready to blow through siouxland many

business closed for tomorrow. call ahead because travel is not advised. ktiv's michelle schoening checked-in to see how sioux city is preparing for the storm. "it's been a pretty nice monday here in sioux city. the past couple days have been really nice. you can start to see the green grass again from the last blanket of snow we received. however, that won't last for long as we are expected in the siouxland area to get almost a foot of snow on tuesday," said michelle schoening, siouxland's news channel. city plow crews began work at 7 o'clock tonight prepping the roadways and last minute changes to the equipment. more than 15 trucks will be on roros trying to make them as clear r possible. sioux city's field service nager says the windy conditions make it difficult to keep the roads clear. we also caught t with people buying last minute salt, s svels and snowblowers. one shopper says he made it two years without a shovel, but the possibility of a blizzard changed his mind. "that. and i saw one on sale and thought maybe i was going to need that tomorrow," said miles petersen, last minute shopper. city officials advise everyone to stay safe if travel is a necessity. in sioux city, michelle schoening, ktiv news

and iowa tonight, mainly after midnight, and continue throughout the day tuesday and move out tuesday night. most of the area, including sioux city, should expect anywhere from 8 to 12 inches with less to the northwest and possibly more in some areas just south of sioux city. with winds gusting over 40 miles per hour, visibility will be reduced to zero at times so travel is not advised for tuesday. it'll be colder on the back side of this system with highs on wednesday in the low 20s. the rest of the week looks quiet as we warm back

he's taken the stage for a victory speech! our coverage in des moines continues. ktiv's robert lowe and kwwl's jerry gallagher join us from the state capitol. it's a packed house in des moines and robert lowe will tell us just how busy the area is. but first let's start with jerry gallagher. on the democtic side too close to call. what happens in iowa could have a very big impact on this race long term. jerry gallagher with our sister station, kwwl, joins us live in des moines. the sanders camp is banking on a big turnout -- and we are seeing that in many precincts. i've spoken to people at caucus sites that had to be moved because so many people showed up. in fact, people in one precinct in central iowa were moved to a bar to give them more space. i've also heard that more chairs

the walthill boys moved up to number-7 in nebraska's class d-1 rankings this week. the blujays are 13-2, with their only losses to winnebago and mead -- who are a combined 19 and 1. walthill opened up play in the lewis and clark conference tourney against wausa. this one, played on a neutral floor in ponca. walthill got out to a quick lead - kobe smith gets in the lane and spins it off the glass - walthill led 17-to-2 after a quarter. wausa keeps fighting - ryan kumm sinks the jumper - kumm led the vikings with 8.

lost to top ten teams on the road. that would have an effect on the new national rankings, out today. the hawkeyes bounced back from their loss at maryland, to beat northwestern on sunday, 85- 71. jarrod uthoff scored 23 points, and peter jok had 22 of his 26 points in the second half. iowa is now 17-4 overall and is tied with indiana for first place in the big ten at 8-1. the hawkeye defense was oustanding -- they held the wildcats scoreless for a seven minute stretch in the first half. "in the beginning they were really doing a terrific job i thought, of executing their offense against us," said head coach fran mccaffery. "we were down 18-16. they were moving the ball. they got great looks at it. demps had ten quick. we marked him and already he's got ten. there was no panic there. i think that's the maturity side of it." the hawkeyes drop two spots to number-5 -- just behind maryland. iowa his home against penn state on wednesday -- and will visit illinois on sunday. iowa state moves up a spot to 13th after
