siouxland, so we're going to get right to it. for more we bring in ktiv meterologist tj springer. tj what's the very latest? blizzard warnings for northeast siouxland in effect through monday afternoon after our mild stretch of weather, winter returned in a big way to close out the weekend! a strong upper level disturbance dips its way out of canada and move through our region tonight. this system continues to progress through siouxland as head into the overnight hours. not much accumulation is expected with totals ranging from less than an inch to two inches for the ne towns. the blizzard warnings is mainly due to the strong nw winds that will accompany this system. winds could gust up to 55 mph throughout the day.. that is also why wind advisories are in effect for central siouxland, including sioux city for gusts up to 50 mph. blowing snow, and whiteout conditions will be possible through tonight. as this storm moves east out of the region, winds will subside but colder temperatures will be left behind with highs barely making it into the mid 20s come monday. temperatures throughout the week will be in the 20s through the next 7-days, but will climb close to freezing next weekend. also, stay tuned to ktiv.com and alert 4 for the latest school closings. robert? an early morning shooting in sioux city injured one police officer. sioux city police were investigating reports of robberies and burglaries in town. during the course of the investigation, officers located several individuals in the 2900 block of park aveune on sioux city's northside. ktiv's michelle schoening was on scene and has late details. police haven't released much information in relation to the shooting or their investigation.

police officer was shot in the leg, but there are muliple parts to this developing story. in the early morning hours on sunday, the sioux city police dept. was called to the 29- hundred block of park avenue. police were actively investigating multiple reports of robberies at the valley park apartment complex. "while officers conducted their investigation, isaiah mothershe shot and wounded a sioux city police officer," said lt. pat mccann, sioux city police department. "eyewitnesses tell us they heard three gun shots from inside apartment 13. that's when more officers went in to help," said michelle schoening, siouxlands news channel. mothershed also shot and wounded himself "isaish mothershed was subsequently arreted and is currently in custody," said lt. pat mccann, sioux city police. the department will continue to release further information as it becomes available. police tell me the 13 year- veteran officer was treated and released from the hospital regarding the suspect, isiah mothershed, you may have heard the name before. that's because this isn't his first run-in with the law. less than six months ago mothershed was arrested for kidnapping and assualting two people over a drug debt. mothershed was charged with two felony counts of kidnapping in the 1st degree and two felony counts of willful injury. he has yet to be arraigned. if you do have any information about these string of robberies you're asked to call contact crime stoppers. that number is 712-258-8477. in sioux city, michelle schoening ktiv news four. this is the third sioux city

in as many years years. back in april of 2013, officer kevin mccormick suffered a gun shot wound to the face. detective mccormick pulled over jamal dean for a seatbelt violation when he was shot. in october of 2014, officer jill ohm was responding to a possible suicidal subject. as she approached the apartment complex she was shot in the chin. both officers made a full recovery and remain on the police force. a westfield, iowa man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a young girl. 63-year-old dennis kroll entered the plea earlier this week.

u-s mainland. following ted cruz's win in the iowa caucus, northwest iowa congressman steve king shares his thoughts on cruz's chances in tuesday's new hampshire primary. the granite state has an open primary as opposed to iowa's caucus where you need to be registered as a democrat or republican. king, who has endorsed cruz for president, says the difference in new hampshire will be that the democrats are going to vote as democrats rather than picking up republican ballots.
