this is the third sioux city police officer shot in as many years. back in april of 2013, officer kevin mccormick suffered a gun shot wound to the face. detective mccormick pulled over jamal dean for a seatbelt violation when he was shot. in october of 2014, officer jill ohm was responding to a possible suicidal subject. as she approached the apartment complex she was shot in the chin. both officers made a full recovery and remain n the polole force. one person is dead and six others are hurt after an explosion at a plant in northwest georgia. police say the explosion happened early sunday morning at a feed mill on a chicken farm in rockmart - about 50 miles northwest of atlanta. they say 25-year-old justin deems died and six other people were taken to a local hospital... including one in critical condition. authorities say the

a boston marathon bombing survivor is taking on a new mission. she lost a leg in the bombing, and now she's ready to reclaim the finish line. todd kazakiewich has her story.

amputee adrianan haslet is running with a purpopo, despite the pain..adrianne haslet/marath on bombiig survvor) "it's a muscle memory in order to learn how use a blade, and i never want to give off the impression that you just put it on and go." adrianne has started training to run the marathon this year, and she took advantage of today's beautiful weather to get some miles in. (todd kazakiewich/re porting) "when adrianne runs the boston marathon this year, she will be the first of the boston marathon bombing survivor amputees to do so. she says her motivation is very simple: to run for those who can't." (adrianne haslet/marath on bombing survivor) "this is a way for me to give back, not only to physically run the marathon - to say a giant 'thank you' to everybody - but also to remember those who are sitting on the couch, who don't have legs because of insurance coverage, who are on the waiting list for limbs for life." adrianne's run will be more than just another inspiring act. she ill be runninig the marathon to raiaie money, and areness for limbs for life. an organization that provides proshetics for a lifetime to amputees who cannot afford them. (nat sound) adrianne is a professional dancer, and the lasttime we saw her at the finish line was when she returne to the scene of so much pain, to dance away the nightmare. the healing is an ongoing process, and running the 120th boston marathon will be yet another step ... a 26-point-two mile victory lap.

following the fatal crane collapse in new york city friday... mayor bill de blasio announced new policies going into effect today. one person was killed and three others injured in the collapse. an investigation is underway... and the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. but de blasio says the crew working on the toppled crane was doing what it was supposed to do. the new york city mayor announced new restrictions to increase crane safety... including a stricter wind policy. the penalty for engineers who fail to safeguard a crane site after a wind advisory will be increased from 48-hundred dollars to 10-thousand dollars. somali authorities released surveillance footage on sunday allegedly showing two men with a laptop that may have exploded on a jetliner in flight over africa last week. a suicide bomber is suspected to have set off the bomb inside the daallo airlines plane. a security camera at the airport in mogadishu, where the flight took off, showed two men, handing what looks like a laptop computer to the suspected suicide bomber

through the security checkpoint. the spokesman said at least one of the men delivering the laptop was an airport employee. a somali intelligence official said six people have been arrested in connection with the blast after examinations of the video. the pentagon says north korea has conducted a missile launch that critics say is meant to test banned technology for a missile that could strike the u-s mainland. but this latest test, officials say, posed no threat to the u-s or its allies. nbc's barry ahrendt reports.

the latest star wars movie has now grossed more than 900-million dollars in the united states. citing estimates from walt disney studios, u-s-a today reports "star wars: the force awakens" is the first movie to make that much money domestically -- doing so in just 50 days. last month, the film surpassed the previous record holder, "avatar," which grossed just over 760- million dollars. the studio expects the film to gross more than two-billion dollars worldwide. it would be only the third movie to do so. britain's duchess of cambridge appears in a new video advocating support for children to help them overcome mental health challenges. the video was released yesterday to mark the start of children's mental health week. the duchess, the former kate middleton, said

here's a quick look at our top news headlines from siouxland this monday morning. a sioux city police officer is recovering after being shot in the leg while investigating several reports of robberies early sunday morning. the officer, who's name has not been released, was treated and released from the hospital after the soting at valley park apartments in the 29- hundred block of park avenue. police say 18-year old isaiah mothershed shot the officer, then shot and wounded himself. he was arrested. more than three- hundred people came together to fight heart disease. the siouxland american heart and stroke association held its 21th annual heart ball in south sioux city on saturday. there was a dinner along with silent and live auctions. this year's fundraising goal was 65-thousand dollars. the theme was "breakfast at tiffany's." ktiv's sheila brummer helped emcee the event. there was a lot of pork in aurelia, iowa this weekend. a pork cookoff was one highlight of the annual cherokee county saturday.
