were important in making up their minds. on the democratic side--nearly 75 percent of voters telling pollsters -- they are worried about the economy. and nearly 90 percent saying the economy favored the wealthy. the speed limit on paved two-lane rural roadways in iowa stands at 55 miles per hour. but, that could soon be changing. iowa lawmakers recently advanced two plans that would raise the speed limit from 55 to 60, or to 65. but, with that increase comes concern. the iowa department of transportation is neutral on the issue, but they say there's risk involved. although the plans are on track to pass, there's still miles to go before the speeds would change. we asked you earlier what you thought about the potential speed increase. here are the results from our poll. 60% of you said the speed increase is necessary. 36% of you said it's dangerous. and 4% of you said you have no opinion. you can still cast your vote on ktiv dot com. today woodbury county approved an agreement providing law enforcement services to correctionville, iowa.

drew says he sees the agreement as a necessity for smaller towns in the county. he says having one or two cops for a small town is costly and drains their budgets. and, the agreement signed today will help correctionville with patroling and keeping people safe. "i think the visibility of having the sheriff's office there and the stability helps the communities. it's been well received by the communities. i think there's been some concern in the beginning, but they found that it just provides better protection," said woodbury county sheriff, dave drew. every community in the county has signed the agreement except for moville, which will be signing an agreement soon. woodbury county supervisors are also focusing on the future of their smaller, rural communities. the county rural economic development department proposed using local option sales tax dollars to do some long-term planning. the project would look at future land use, zoning ordinances, economic and community development. cities that already have plans

rural communities in the county that don't. "what i'm trying to do is help these communities do some long range planning and we need to really take a hard look at their community, their existing capacities and find out what do you want your community too look like in the next 20, 30 years," said woodbury county rural economic development director, david gleiser. next week, the supervisors board will look at a proposed budget for the project and begin making moves. the county also plans to apply for a usda rural development grant, which could offset the cost of the project. still to come.... we're bringing ypu highlights

the group support siouxland soldiers held a "valentines for veterans" event at the american red cross tonight. volunteers served a dinner of walking tacos and soup and also gave bags of groceries to the veterans. hand crafted valentine's day cards were also donated by area students. an official with support siouxland soldiers talked about the growth they have seen over the last several months. "about six months ago, we were averaging about 245 families here, of veterans, their wives, their kids. and last month, in december, we had 545 families join us, and tonight we're looking at another 545 to 600 veterans coming." said sam hacker, community relations director for support siouxland soldiers.

a freeway median is getting help from local residents. now she's got a new home. all season long, the nfl has given a special football to every living super bowl champion -- to give back to their high school. another special 'golden' football, commemorating super bowl 50 -- is back in siouxland. adam timmerman, a 1989 graduate of washington high school, in cherokee, made his presentation tonight. timmerman played in four super bowls for the packers and rams, winning two times as a starting guard after an all- american career at south dakota state. in all, he played 12 years in the nfl, also playing in two pro bowls. timmerman now lives back in his hometown, and was happy to give back to his alma mater. "i appreciate all the things and all the people that spent a lot of time and invested in me," said timmerman. "it's been
