(sheila) high winds, and heavy snow, took a heavy toll on briar cliff university's charger dome during last week's blizzard. repairs continued today. (matt) ktiv's tommie clark was in south sioux city as the massive dome was blown back up.

"just about every outdoor sport at briar cliff university uses the charger dome at some point so having it repaired was a big deal for them." wasa had to investigate what exactly happened. "a massive snow slide that came down and hit the corner and the corner only has so much room to give so the fabric tore along the edge," said worldwide air structure assistance owner, bob jessome. it's been a weeks worth of work patching it up and thursday, it was time to re-inflate the dome. in the mean time, athletic teams have been traveling to different gyms for practice and... "softball had a tournament that was scheduled last weekend that

also be pursuing more hydro- electric energy. we ought to be making coal as clean as we possibly can, but there's nothing wrong with looking at nuclear power as well," said senator mike rounds, south dakota senator. in a statement, the white house press secretary saididquote "we disagree" " th the court's action. iowa ulities regulators met for the fourth day to try and make a decisioon the bakken oil pipeline. a texas company wants to bury 346 miles of crude oil pipe under iowa farmland. the iowa utilities board is also considering whether to give the company, dakota access, the authority to force landowners to sign easements using eminent domain. the three-mememr board is also deciding on a hazardous pipeline permit for the bakken pipeline. environmental and property rights groups oppose it. supporters say it's the safest way to transport oil, and it will create jobs. us more. steve? matt and sheila, a state lawmaker from the iowa lakes who introduced a bill thth would limit the distance boats could tie off from each other on lakes says the measure likely won't go anywhere at the statehouse. state representativ e john wills of spirit lake is a proponent and author of the bill that's sparked some controversy in the iowa great lakes... "all i really want is an avenue for boats to get down, emergency vehicles, to get down through that middle of the clump. if somebody were to have a heart attack in the middle of that, i really legitimately am in favor of safety out there." wills says due to the opposition he's been getting, he's requested the chair of the subcommittee in which the bill was introduced to not advance it. many have taken to social media to bash the proposed bill. wills says the dnr could now take up the matter through a rule making process. concerts out on the water. they also say enforcing the law would be very difficult if not impossible. state senators in south dakota are debating a bill that may change which bathroom and lockck rooms some rushmore state students use. the bill would require students to use lockers and restrooms that match the biological sex of the person at birth. the state house of representatives have already approved the plan. democrats in pierre call the bill "government overreach." proponents of the plan believe this measure would protect the privacy of south dakota students. "it seems like a pretty common sense idea and i'm quite convinced that the vast majority of people in nebraska support the bill," said south dakota representative, jim bolin. schools must provide "reasonable accommodatio ns" for transgender students under the bill, including a one-person bathroom among other accommodations. we want to know what you think about the transgender bathroom bill.

(sheila) wayne community schools is (matt) but, not first without some public feedback. ktiv's sam curtiss is live in wayne at the junior/senior high school. where a public meeting on that sam? i spoke with the mark lenihan, the superintenden t of wayne community schools earlier. he said tonight's meeting is to gauge the interest the community has. the school board is proposing building a new gym, performing arts center and a building for preschool and kindergarten students. everything right now is just in the concept phase. lenihan said the board will propose e nding come from an $18-million bond, specifically increasinproperty taxes.

(matt) new details on the man accused of shooting a sioux city police (sheila) today, ktiv's tiffany lane was in the courtroom as 18-year-old isaiah mothershed appeared before a judge. tiffany? matt and sheila, it was appearance before a judge today since being booked into the woodbury county jail yesterday.

the couch and shot officer ryan moritz in the leg. during the struggle, police said mothershed shot himself in his own thigh. su "18-yeararld isaiah mothershed was released from the hospital wednesday and booked into the woodbury county jail. he's been charged with two counts of attempted murder and five counts of first degree robbery." thursday, mothershed made his initial appearance in court at the woodbury county law enforcement center. while answering judge todd hensley's questions, mothershed can be seen keeping his head down the entire time. the two charges of attempted murder include the night mothershed shot moritz as well as an incident two days before. on february 5th, police say mothershed and three others used a crowbar to enter a residence at 4538 polk street in sioux city where he fired a shot at one of the homeowners as she chased after him. mothershed's preliminary hearing will be on february 19th.>> mothershed's bond has been set at 300-thousand dollars. police say mothershed did not live in the apartment where officer moritz was shot.

light snow has been working its way across siouxland today and will continue into the evening and early overnight hours before coming to an end. the heavier amounts are going to end up being in eastern siouxland with maybe an inch or two of total accumulation. the snow ends tonight and then we'll see clearing skies during the day on friday. after dropping below zero friday night, we'll see another cold day saturday with the possibility of light snow from later saturday into the first half of sunday which could again give us some light accumulations. warmer weather starts to move in on sunday as we could get into the low 30s. the warming continues next week as some 40s should be

police and paramedics were on the scene of an accident on west 8th street and omaha in sioux city. police responded to a call about an accident shortly after 5:30. police are investgating the incident. these photos were sent was near the accident. the federal reserve says farm income continued to decline in nebraska and states on the west coast. the value of non-irrigated farmland fell 4-percent.

after years of planning and construction, the lauch pad childeren's museum held it's grand opening today. hundreds of community member gathered to mmemorate the hard work for all who were involved. the celebration kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony. then parents and children were invited to take part in the fun. organizers say it was a great feeling to see this dream become a reality. "there's really no words to describe the emotions that i'm feeling. there's just so much all mixed in. the best part is to see how many people are benefiting from this," said debbie bernstein-lacroix, founding board member of launch pad. the museum is open monday through sunday and admission from ages one to sixty five is eight dollars. sixty five and over are six dollars, and under one year old is free. it was a morning of musical inspiration for 2,500 siouxland students. the sioux city symphony orchestra performed its annual

orpheum theatre. the theme this year..."the sioux city orchestra users' guide." students had the opportunity to sing along with the symphony to the "stars and stripes." the symphony orchestra participated in the league of american orchestra's "orchestras feed america." many of the students brough non-perishable food items to be donated to the food bank of siouxland. brad's here -- tough times for iowa state. the cyclones lost to un- ranked texas tech last night -- to fall closer to 5- hundred in the big 12. and, the explorers continue to re-sign their top players -- including the best pitcher in the american association.

iowa state is still ranked 14th in the country and are 17-7 overall -- but there's sense that something's not right. the cyclones lost at un- ranked texas tech last night to fall to 6-5 in the big 12. isu blew a nine-point lead in the second half. one of the bright spots was deonte burton. the marquette transfer was making his second start in place of suspended center jameel mckay. burton had a career-high 20 points, making 9 of 15 shots. texas tech sent the game to overtime and took the lead for good on this banked in 3-pointer. it was a bad ending to a long trip.
