bye! a sioux city man has been stabbed to death and his accused killer is in police custody. ktiv's tiffany lane is on the story in the 19-hundred block of st 1st street, wherere police say elias wanatee stabbed vernon mace early this morning. tiffany? al, police received a call just after two this morning saying that mace had been stabbed. i spoke with his daughter, verna hoffman, who calls the situation shocking. she says wanateeees her cousin's husband. hoffman said that the suspect was waiting for mace outside mace's home in the blue building behind me as mace was going home. that's when wanatee chased mace around this corner about a block down the 1900 block of west 1st

attempted murder is now in its third day. the sac county sheriff's office says 36-year jeremy werneburg intentionally struck kyle freese of glidden with his car outside a bar in carnarvon sunday night. freese was pinned against the outside wall of the bar. he's hospitalized in des moines where he'll undergo surgery on his leg. werneburg has ties to the ida grove, wall lake, carroll and humboldt areas. anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the sac county sheriff's office. a protest is going on this noon hour in denison, iowa, involving police and community members. at the center of the protest, lewd images allegedly y eated on a computer r by the police chief. ktiv's tommie clark is with live link 4 in denison with

well al, denison chief-of- police john emswiler is accused of making pictures that weren't meant for others to see, including some that t me may consider racist or pornographic. i spoke with the city attorney who was indirectly involved with the matter. he says the information was on the police chief's private computer and somehow it got to the shared drive. the city attorney says mayor daniel leinen investigated the allegations and determined that disciplinary action was appropriate. he then administered that discipline in accordance with city policy. but he's not saying exaclty what that punishment is. leinen told me he cannot comment on camera for legal liability reasons, but he says that he believes he "used correct protocol." he also says he "does not agree with what the chief of police did and he was reprimanded for his actions."

>> secretary of state john kerry says there is increasing evidence of militarization by china in the south china sea. it's reported today that china has put anti-aircraft missiles on it's disputed man-made island in the south china sea. those are international waters, but china has been increasingly trying to lay claim to the area. analysts call china's actions a "significant military escalation." kerry described it as a "serious concern." kerry did not confirm the reports, but said there would be more talks with china in coming days. the airliner that carried pope francis to mexico was hit by a laser light from the ground as it arrived on friday. ali-talia airlines says no one was hurt and the aircraft landed safely. the carrier said today that the crew notified the mexico city airport's control tower of the

officials around the world have been increasingly concerned about people training laser pointers on jetliners. in some cases, crewmembers have suffered permanent eye damage. apple says it's not just about a single terrorism case. the company is asking its stomers to understand why it's fighting an order fr a feral judge that it help the fbi hack into an i-phone that belonged to one of the san bernardino, california shooters. nbc's steve patterson has more.

u.s. stocks are higher in midday trading after some encouraging company earnings and a 6-percent jump in the price of crude oil, which is now above 30-dollars a barrel in new york. the director of iowa's economic development authority say the quality of jobs in the state is improving. debi durham says incomes are rising and jobs are being created in iowa. but, she says the economy is slowing.

the stage. there's a change of venue for awesome biker nights this year. it's moving down to the other end of htoric 4th street, outside the hard rock hotel & casino, " we want it to be maybe awesome-er biker nights, this year," said hard rock general manager, todd moyer. "battery park was built for entertainment in mind. it's a great state of the art facility. we can't wait to show it off to the thousands of people that are going to come from way long distance o check out these bands." the 17th annl awesome biker nights will be june 16th, 17th and 18th. minnesota vikings fans are eagerly awaiting the opening of the team's new stadium. it's s ill months away, but t w we're getting our first bibilook inside. lou raguse took the media tour.

officials say because of u.s. bank stadium's design -- u don't feel like you're in the nosebleed section. "we have suites that are closer to the action than anywhere in the nfl. we have seats that are closer to the action than any in the nfl." two huge scoreboards are in place at each end. dave mansell, mortenson project manager "it's 90 by 55 feet tall. andnd that one's 120 by 85 feet tall. on the west end." that only makes the big screen the 10th largest in the nfl - but they argue the placement makes the scoreboards superior to other stadiums. "because it's not center hung and you can see them from anywhere in the stadium." in the concourse -- some concession stands are finishsh -- wle others still need finishing touches. the luxurious club rooms look ready to go. lester bagley, vikings exec. vp, public affairs "this is the ideal club because it has the view of the river and riverfront. as well as the stadium and the action." lou raguse, reporting "and this is the view from the purple club. these luxury seats and club rooms were what was severely lacking at the metrodome and stand to make the
