the child may be with earnest howard, a 35 year old bald white man. they may be traveling in a brown kia rondo with nebraska license plate tef 590. if you have any information please call 911 or contact fairbury police department at 402-729-3355 immediately. a 17-year-old spirit lake teen is in custody after a pursuit that traveled through both emmet and kossuth counties wednesday afternoon. the driver had been reported by dickinson county to possibly be suicidal. an officer tried to stop the vehicle westbound on highway 9 near maple hill, that's when the vehicle sped up. as the pursuit continued, the emmet county sheriff's department deployed tire deflation devices and the suspect's front tires were flattened. the driver was taken into custody and is now charged with eluding a law enforcement vehicle and excessive speed. the driver was later transported to council bluffs for psychological evaluation and will go before a judge at a later date. a man accused of attempted

36-year-old jeremy werneburg was arrested in sac county, iowa on wednesday. he had been on the run since sunday night when authorities say he intentionally ran a man down with his car outside a bar in carnarvon. yesterday, he was transferred from webster county jail to sac county jail and appeared before a judge. werneberg was charged with attempted murder. werneburg does have other charges in webster county having to do with his arrest. his preliminary hearing is scheduled for the 26th. switching gears... president obama says he has plans to choose a replacement for supreme court justice antonin scalia, who passed away last weekend. however, some republicans say since president obama leaves office next year... the next president should pick the replacement. as a result... iowa senator chuck grassley will be a prominent figure in the debate because he is the chair of the senate judiciary committee... which is the first step in hearings for a supreme court nominee. dave price has more.

a wintry mix. once that low pressure clears the area, we will clear out and drop the temperatures off with most towns around that 40 degree mark through the end of the work week. we then finally drop off into the 30s by next saturday.

but a good time, for some, could be found inside sioux city's convention center this afternoon. the steins and vines beer & wine festival was held for another year. 40 breweries and 12 wineries with booths are listed on the events website. lots of local and regional breweries were on hand. it's a sampling event where people go booth to booth taste testing beers or wine. while it's fun for event goers, those on the other side of the booths are having just as much fun. "it's a lot of fun," said pat kealiher, a brewer with west o beer. "it's a great way to get out there, get your name out there and see what people have to say about your beer. there's nothign better than watching people enjoy something that you take a lot of pride in." the 5th annual stem fest was held today at dordt college. stem stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. more than 150 kids were able to experience hands-on activities in the stem field. from a virtual reality lab to coding computers. all with the hopes to spark an interest in the stem fields for

midland, just 5-and-16 in gpac play entering the day - but they hung tough - megan kucks with 3 of her 14 points. but morningside continues to push the pace - inside to jessica tietz - the n-a-i-a player of the week led all scorers with 24 points. then ackerman goes outside - for a three ball - morningside wins it 85-75, the mustangs will be the top seed in the gpac tournament. state championships were being handed out at the nebraska state wrestling championships . several siouxlanders still had a shot at a title, including three defending champions. class a, 152 pounds has a back-to-back champion - caleb licking of norfolk - the senior goes out with his second straight state championship. same weight in class d - randolph's drew loberg finishes the season with a 48-and-1 record and a state title - loberg wins 5-4 in the finals. class c, 220 - jason hahlbeck of o'neill wins via fall - he's a state champion. as is madion's aron reynaga at
