on the republican side, donald trump and ted cruz are going at it with new polls showing trump likely to take most of the big super tuesday states on march 1st. nbc"s jennifer johnson has our story tonight from washington.

"you need to protect yourself, protect your hearing, protect your eyes, everything." but opponents worry about gun violence. at the moment -- the bill is in the senate awaiting debate. if it becomes law, iowa would be the forty second state to allow them in the country.

to the polls on march 1st to decide if their local fire department will be expanding. built in 1973, the current station houses the trucks and gear. the orange city fire chief says the expansion is all about the safety of the firefighters. voting polls will be open from 7 a-m to 8 p-m at the living waters church. on thursday, the diocese of sioux city annouced a detailed plan to consolidate, and close, dozens of its parishes in the summer of 20-17. the diocese remains hopeful it will be a smooth transition. as they strive to provide priests to those parishes for as long as they can. yet church-goers across northwest iowa still may have to come to grips with the closure. ktiv's michelle schoening has more. on a sunday in rural plymouth county, st. joseph-ellendale is anything but quiet. "i understand that may be the best plan for the diocese, but it is not the best plan for our church," said alise allan, parishioner. father david hemann is the priest at ellendale. and says, unlike many rural churches in northwest iowa, it is growing. "there's a hundred-plus people who come to mass. it's pretty lively. it's going very well right now, " said fr. david hemann. but the problem resides with a projection of not enough priests to cover all parishes. and while parishioners at ellendale understand it's only a draft plan, it doesn't sit well. a plea hearing is set for monday in the case of an akron, iowa, man charged with killing his mother. jonathan neunaber is charged with first-degree murder in the death of esther neunaber in july of 2014. the bodies of both esther and her husband donald were found in their farm home near akron. authorities say donald died of natural causes. jonathan neunaber has pleaded not guilty in the case. in january, he was found competent to stand trial. a few years ago, the u.s. preventative task force put out a new set of recommendations for cervical cancer screening. ktiv's sheila brummer shares insight from one local expert for all women in tonight's healthbeat 4.
