system that might bring a light mix to the area wednesday night. things look dry after that with temperatures returning to the 50s and 60s this weekend. see graphics. wx timer @ :40 >> an ohio pastor was shot dead inside his church during a service sunday morning. william schooler had just walked back to the pulpit inside zion baptist church when the shooter got out of a pew and followed him. witnesses say they heard a couple of shots fired while the choir was singing, and became chaos when everyone took off more than 20 people were inside the church at the time. the shooter is believed to be schooler's brother, and dayton police are investigating a possible motive. hundreds of people gathered sunday to honor a northern virginia police officer shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute saturday night. people lit candles and held a moment of silence to remember officer ashley guindon

officer guindon was working her first field shift - after she was sworn in friday- when she was shot and killed. two other officers were injured. active sergeant ronald hamilton is accused of killing officer ashley guindon. three officers were critically wounded. hamilton is expected to appear in court today, charged with multiple counts of murder and malicious wounding. community leaders held a church service sunday for the victims in thursday's deadly shooting spree in kansas. civic and religious leaders along with members of the community gathered to light candles and pray. three people were killed and 14 others injured when cedric ford opened fire inside excel industries in hesston. city leaders say the city has adopted the slogan "hesston strong." family and friends remembered the life of a kalamazoo shooting spree victim yesterday. a memorial service was held sunday for 60-year- old mary joe nye in battle creek, michigan. nye was one of the six people killed last saturday after a man went on a deadly

rampage in kalamazoo. a retired teacher-- nye had taught at a school that served at-risk students. during her funeral sunday, former students shared memories of her commitment to teaching inside and outside the classroom. an american student detained in pyongyang since january was presented to media by north korean authorities today. north korean claimed the university of virginia undergraduate had been detained for -quote- "perpetrating a hostile act against north korea at the tacit connivance of the u-s government and under its manipulation". while addressing the media and members of pyongyang's diplomatic community, 21-year-old warmbier acknowledge d and apologized for the alleged crime, which involved the theft of a political slogan from a staff-only section of the hotel where he had been staying. authorities arrested a man they say got into a scuffle with a minnesota police officer. he then stole multiple vehicles from northwest iowa as he made his way to

george pell testified to an investigative commission in his native australia via video link from a rome hotel. in the front row of the conference room were two dozen australian abuse survivors who had traveled across the globe to be on hand for pell's testimony - a significant demonstration of accountability in the church's long-running abuse saga. on thursday, the diocese of sioux city annouced a detailed plan to consolidate, and close, dozens of its parishes in the summer of 20-17. the diocese remains hopeful it will be a smooth transition. they strive to provide priests to those parishes for as long as they can. yet church-goers across northwest iowa still may have to come to grips with the closure. ktiv's michelle schoening has more.

immediatly in july of 2017, but rather gradually. he said because it's a lively parish, he would like to supply a retired priest as long as possible. there was a lot of song and dance in sioux city this weekend. the 16th annual bishop heelan show choir classic attracted groups from across the midwest on saturday. this year's theme was "sail away." these young performers put in a lot of work to make it all come together on stage. dumped in a donation bin, it's a situation that could have killed her. (beth caffrey, the cat house on the kings) "the problem with that is that you actually have to be caught red handed, and a lot of times it's really hard to prosecute." but sally ann was saved. she was found by a salvation army worker who called a cathouse on the kings location at the petco on blackstone and ashlan. now she's getting plenty of t-l-c. (beth caffrey, the cat house on the kings) "tomorrow she is going to get spayed so that she can get everything done so that she be re-homed." sally ann's rescue is happening g the right time. animal rescues are over-run with unwanted kittens and pups at this time of year. could fininherself on defese - e rest of her emails are due to be released today. i'm tracie potts in washington, now back to you. >> orange city residents will head to the polls tomorrow to decide if their local fire department will be expanding. built in 1973, the current station houses the trucks and geaf, but they're running out of room. the orange city fire chief says the expansion is all about the safety of the firefighters. polls are open from 7 a-m to 8 p-m at the living waters church. some iowa lawmakers are trying to make gun suppressors legal. the house passed a bill in hopes of legalizing suppressors. they're also commonly know as silencers -- and help reduce the noise level. many who enjoy hunting or shooting as a sport...say some type of protection is definitely needed. "you need to protect yourself, protect your hearing, protect your eyes, everything." but opponents worry about gun violence. at the moment -- the bililis in the senate awaititg debate. if it becomes law, iowa would be the forty second state to

about two dozen people gathered saturday at a monthly town hall to speak with northwest iowa state representativ es about the current status of the legislature. topics included legalizing medicinal marijuana, the state budget, and the recent decision to privatize medicaid. but, that decision has some siouxlanders concerned. ktiv's michelle schoening explains

"the siding on the front of the building, the signs, the sheetrock and the demolation and the taping and the painting, these guys just worked here everyday as ng as they could to get the job done," ed olson, commander post 64. mayor bob scott is hoping young men and women currently serving in the military take advantage of the legion. "they've seen things unfortunetly too manantimes and it's hard sometimes to readjust and the only way they're going to readjust is by talking to people that have been in the same situation," said mayor bob scott.

it's not the end all be all. but, it's a good tool to have in our box so people don't get cancer," said dr. danielle hay, siouxland women's health care. 9:04 obgyn, dr. danielle hay agrees with the new recommendation for cervical s seening every three years. 1:11 "that's kind of a big deal. because up to that pointntomen would say "i ne to get my yearly pa." and, women should wait until the age of 21, even if they are sexually active. 2:21 young women their cervix change and they shed those atypical cells. and, we were finding we did a lot more unnecessary procedures in young women." there are some exceptions. women with a history of atypical cells, abnormal discharge or pain during intercourse, should still get a pap test each year. dr. hay also says the bottom line; follow your own medical providers advice. with more on that story and other business news, here's ktiv's kaitlyn kinney.... thanks guys. beginning tomorrow, subway will begin selling its new antibiotic- free, rotisserie- style chchken nationwide. it was back in october that subway announced it would begin to transition t/ serving only protein from animals that have never received antibiotics. on april first, chicken strips raised without antibiotics will be available nationwide. subway's goal is to move to antibiotic-free turkey within the next two or three years... and antibiotic-free beef and pork by 2025. disneyland in california and walt disney world in florida now come with dedend-based pricing. the resortwill charge three different pric -- depending on the time of year -- for a single day park ticket. the calendar will be divided into value, regular and peak periods. a value one-day pass at disneyland -- monday through thursday when most schools are in session -- will drop to 95- dollars.

stole a semi from a lawton, iowa farm and drove it all the way to kansas. the trouble started friday when 26-year-old ivie popplewell got into a scuffle with police in worthington, minnesota and fled. authoritieiesay he had stolen a a pizza ranch delivery van in sheldon, iowa earlier that morning. later, police say he took off in a semi he stole from casey willer's farm near lawton. authorities caught up with popplewell nearly 300 miles away in ottawa, k knsas. willer is still waiting get his truck back. iowa's move to privatize medicaid was one of the big topics of discussion at a town hall meeting of state lawmakers this weekend in sioux city. on april first, iowa will turn over management of the program to three private companies. 39 other states have done the same. some have voiced concern that we'll spend more and get fewer services. legislative democrats want to create an oversight committee to address concerns. an opp house was held this weekend at the new home of six legion post.
